Chapter 10: Ragnis the Alpha Wolf

Lily takes the lead by slicing at one the wolf's legs. The beast taunts her by howling as it loses a tiny sliver of HP.

Saiba does the same to a different leg and the wolf loses even less HP.

Ragnis lets out a loud bark to announce its incoming attack. It lifts one of its limbs and delivers a horizontal swipe, hitting both Saiba and Lily. They both suffer cuts as they get pushed back by the attack.

Lily retaliates by using Parallel Flash on two legs of Ragnis' legs, however, the attack dissipates before even touching Ragnis.

Lily retreats, taken aback at what happened. She regains focus and tries using Blinding Ray this time. The same thing happens, so Lily steps back and asks,

"What's happening to my attacks?"

Saiba suggests,

"Do monsters have magic types too? Maybe this guy is a Dark-type like me!"

Lily answers,

"Yeah they do, but Light and Dark are effective against each other so my attack should still do damage! Unless..."

She remembers a book she read about Skills as she quotes,

"If a creatures magic power greatly exceeds the power of its weakness, they gain the ability negate all attacks from that type."

Her eyes grow big with disbelief as she mumbles,

"There's no way he can be that much stronger than me... right...?"

Saiba tells Lily,

"If that's the case, you get back and just sit tight then! I'll take care of this guy!"

Lily shouts back,

"No! You'll get yourself killed if you do that!"

Saiba replies,

"Don't worry! I'm a Hero right?"

At the same time, Saiba rushes in and slashes at all four of the wolf's legs. All though it only deals a little damage, Ragnis shakes a little as it gets off-balance.

Ragnis does the same swipe from before, but this time, Saiba dodges by jumping off of his paw and onto the wolf's head. He takes sword plunges it into the body of the large monster. He runs down Ragnis' back, which makes a cut that runs all the way from the top of the wolf's head to its tail. Ragnis howls in pain while losing a good amount of blood and HP from Saiba's attack.

Saiba jumps off of Ragnis behind him and prepares to use Crimson Strike. He puts arms up in air and starts to gather Dark Magic in his blade. Ragnis tries to find Saiba by sniffing the air, searching for his scent. Meanwhile, Saiba is still charging up energy and Lily moves a bit closer to get a better view of battle.

As Ragnis finally stands face to face with Saiba again, Saiba brings his arms down. At the same time, Saiba's wound opens up and blood start leaking out which prevents him from finishing the attack.

Ragnis sees this as an opportunity to attack and pounces at Saiba moving his mouth towards him. Lily warns Saiba,

"Watch out!"

Saiba hears her, but is unable to dodge out of the way due to the pain from his injury. Ragnis opens his mouth and swallows Saiba whole while Lily shouts,

"No! I warned him this was gonna happen! That stupid Hero!"

She starts to tear up a little while watching to see what happens next.

Suddenly, black light starts leaking out of Ragnis' mouth and its looks like it's about to throw up. Ragnis quickly opens his mouth and spits out Saiba. Along with Saiba, a piece large beast's tongue also exits his mouth, quickly turning to dust. Saiba looks completely different from before. He has a dark aura thats enveloping his whole body similar to a coating.

Ragnis loses a good amount of HP before swiping at Saiba angrily. His claw merely bounces off of Saiba's body as the attack was rendered completely ineffective. Lily looks at Saiba, relieved and says,

"Thank god he's okay, but what's going on with him... He took no damage inside of the wolf or from that attack either..."

Her expression changes into a shocked one as she says to herself,

No way! Is he using that technique? There's no way he could be using it... He probably doesn't even know what it is..." Saiba walks menacingly towards Ragnis and the monster looks slightly intimidated.

He lifts his sword in the air with one hand, similar to when he uses Crimson Strike. Just as fast as he lifted his hand, he slices down and shouts,

"Starry Night: Crimson Strike!"

Out of his sword comes the same wave as a normal Crimson Strike, however, this one is wrapped in a black aura with little, white, flickering dots imitating stars.

It moves very fast and before Lily or Ragnis can react, the wave disappears. Ragnis bares his fangs little to taunt Saiba.

Suddenly the beast's eyes turn white and multiple, deep cuts appear all over Ragnis' body with blood dripping from each one. Ragnis drops to the ground, lifeless and turning to dust. Saiba and Lily both get a pop-up that says,

[Congratulations! Ragnis the Alpha Wolf was Defeated! Level +5. ATK. +5 DEF. +5 SPD +5. New Title Get: 'Lycan Warrior'. Item Get: Alpha Wolf Skin, Alpha Wolf Fang]

The dark aura around Saiba disappears as he falls unconscious and his wound opens up again, this time getting deeper and larger.

Lily quickly runs to help him as she picks him up on her back and starts to run straight to the town. They leave a trail of blood behind them as Saiba is on the verge of death. Lily is running as fast as she can, quickly slicing any wolves that get in her way as to not waste any time.

She can finally see light coming from the town as she speeds up slightly for the final stretch. She runs straight through the gates into the middle of the town and screams with tears in her eyes,

"Someone... Please save him!"
