Trapped-N

Just by looking around one could realize that this was a really bad situation. The cries of those things were already bad enough but now they're even screaming in anger, hearing this for hours is nothing but torture.

After some time i even thought of jumping off the roof to distract them while Touji escaped, but he immediately discarded that idea. I guess that's really crazy but i'll still consider it if things get dangerous.

While trapped in this place i had nothing to do. Normally i would rummage through my bag just for the fun of it or collect anything that seemed pretty or useful, sadly i had left my bag at the house and the only thing i had was Haruto's bat. So i did the only thing i could, pamper Touji.

He acted like he didn't like it but i know that there is no boy who didn't enjoy a lap pillow and some head scratching, though i guess the zombies cries made it somewhat weird. I personally enjoyed it a lot, after all i like to pamper and cuddle my friends.

Touji is particularly reluctant but Haruto and Sophia don't resist at all, they enjoy it. If i had to put it in another words, Haruto and Sophia are like dogs while Touji is like a cat.

"You really have nerves of steel don't you?"

His question came out of nowhere, it threw me off for a moment.

"What do you mean?"

"Isn't it obvious? Not only did you killed those zombies effortlessly, now you don't even show fear in this situation"

Hmm? Well i guess that for most people that would be terrifying, as for me...well is not like I'm used to it, i have never killed someone but i wouldn't mind doing it for a good reason. I'm pretty sure is some kind of undiagnosed sociopathy.

"You already know I'm pretty much detached from most things...well maybe that's not the best way to word it since I'm a bit of a kleptomaniac"

"Yeah i know what you mean"

Is not exactly kleptomania but it is pretty similar. I tend to take anything that i deem useful or pretty, if i can i will buy it but if not i will just steal it. Of course i have never stolen anything from a friend, that's just wrong.

I'm detached from moral restrictions or ethics, i don't care about money or my own health. The only things i hold dear are my friends and the things i take, nothing else. Most people say that I'm a menace to society...well is not like they're wrong, i have done a good amount of questionable things.

"Just stop thinking about that and enjoy my lap pillow you rascal"

I pinched his nose with a little grin. Seriously, I'm giving such a nice pillow and such a nice view and he just start talking about my weird tendencies, the audacity of this kid!

Well I'm a kid too, I'm just joking around.

We stayed like that for a while, i tried to sing a lullaby to cover the sounds of the zombies but it went the opposite way so i just gave up. I still had some candy in my pocket so we ate that while waiting for those things to get tired and go away but they never did even after three hours had passed.

Touji proposed throwing something far away to see if they would get attracted to the sound like they did the first time but they didn't even looked the other way. We tried with bricks and glass shards but nothing worked, of course then we started throwing those things at them but there were too many and we didn't have that many bricks, so again we just gave up.

I was about to start trying to sing again but i catch a glimpse of what looked like a flock of birds at distance, the problem was that i could distinguish the color red. It was obvious that the "flock of birds" weren't birds at all, but those weird eye monsters, and there were a lot.

"Maybe they somehow know we killed one of their own"

"That's improbable, assuming those monster are the common animals of this place then this might be their hunting grounds, or maybe they have nests close by"

The idea that those things could be considered animals didn't stick well with me, no matter how you look at them they aren't natural. However it is a valid possibility, we don't know anything of this place after all.

"Either way, i don't think is a good idea to wait for them to get close, we really should make a run for it"

"You're forgetting about the moving corpses down there"

Tch, he's right, even if we try to run away from those flying monsters we will just jump straight to those zombies mouth, but if we don't do anything well probably be killed by the eyes. Fighting isn't an option either, there are just too many of them.

Self sacrifice is always an option but...

"Don't even think about it!"

Touji won't let me. I need to think of another solution, throwing things to distract those monster is useless but maybe it would be possible to make them fight with those fliers.

While i was thinking about any possible solution i felt a wet feeling in my hand. I had unconsciously put my hand inside my pocket and when i took it i noticed that i was holding that weird red gem, from it's crack a red liquid, probably blood oozed slowly along a gas of similar color. Since when was it like this?

"That thing looks dangerous"

Touji said so the moment he saw the gem, and honestly he was probably right. Even though i liked it and wanted to keep it, it really look like a dangerous thing that you wouldn't want to get in contact with.

"I'll throw it away"

I walked closer to the cornise and threw it far away, it made an arch in the air before falling to the ground and breaking loudly, releasing copious amounts of that red gas.

When the gas came in contact with the zombies they stopped completely for a second, their cries and screams, even their breathing stopped before they all turned around in unison and leaped in the direction of the broken gem, crashing head first against the ground, some of them even breaking their skulls from the impact.

"Come on let's go!"

Touji immediately took my hand and started running, jumping of the roof and onto the street without looking back. We could hear a sound akin to that of a hammer beating meat as we ran along with the sound of flapping wings.

We ran for a long time, taking sudden turns into alleyways trying to lost those monsters. After a while we stopped hearing them but we could still see them in the distance.

Tired, we both made our way to the house, falling to the ground the moment we stepped in.

I could hear Sophia worried voice in the background, but as i quickly lost consciousness i stopped hearing her.
