"Ugh-Where am I?"
Wang Mingya blinked and found herself in an unfamiliar room.
Mingya looked around the room, taking in her new surroundings. The room was spacious, with high ceilings and large windows that let in a soft, filtered light. The walls were painted a pale pink color, and there were delicate floral patterns on the curtains and bedspread.
"Wow…"
The bed was a four-poster, with a canopy of sheer fabric draped over the top. Mingya could see that the bedding was made of soft, high-quality fabrics, and she couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. She had never slept on such a comfortable-looking bed before.
She got up from the bed and looked around to find anything that might indicate where she was.
Mingya's eyes fell upon a large mirror in the corner of the room. She slowly approached it and stared at her reflection, expecting to see her own face staring back at her.
But what she saw instead was the face of a young girl in her teens, with long brown hair and bright blue eyes - the girl whose body she now inhabited.
"GASP!-"
Mingya let out a gasp of shock, feeling a mixture of disbelief and wonder. She tentatively touched her face, running her fingers over her current body's smooth skin and delicate features.
"D-did I transmigrate?"
It was all so surreal, but the evidence was right in front of her. She noticed a bookshelf filled with various titles, including a thick history book with a familiar cover. She picked it up and began to flip through the pages, her eyes widening as she recognized the names of the cities and landmarks mentioned.
"This can't be a coincidence," she murmured to herself, finally realizing that she had indeed transmigrated into the world of the novel she had last read.
"I must be in the world of [Counterattack of the Villainess],"
A chill ran down her spine as she thought about the possibility of being trapped in a world that wasn't her own. She couldn't shake the feeling of being lost and alone.
"But if that's true," she continued, her voice trembling, "then why don't I remember anything about the body I'm currently in?"
As she continued to explore the room, her eyes fell upon a diary on the table. Mingya hesitated for a moment, feeling a twinge of guilt at the thought of invading this young girl's privacy. But then she remembered she was now in possession of her body.
"I-It's not wrong. A-after all, I am just reading my own diary. Hmmm, that's right!"
She convinced herself and picked up the diary, flipping through its pages. Through the words on the pages, she learned that the young girl's name was Charlotte Valois. She soon came across an entry that seemed to be about Charlotte's brother.
She was surprised to find out that Charlotte was William Valois's younger sister. William Valois was the infamous side male lead from the novel [Counterattack of the Villainess]. That's right - he was 'infamous'; he was the typical Yandere male lead who would do anything to obtain the female lead, Isadora.
Mingya delved into Charlotte's diary and discovered that the younger girl had once adored her older brother, writing,
[I used to think that my brother was the most perfect person in the world. He was handsome, strong, and so skilled in swordsmanship. I was always so proud of him.]
However, after her brother returned from the Order of Silver Knights, things began to change.
Charlotte wrote, [He barely pays any attention to me anymore. He doesn't respond to my calls or even look in my direction. It hurts me so much.]
It was not just her brother who ignored her, but their father as well.
Charlotte wrote, [Father never listens to what I have to say. He's always too busy with his work, and I feel like I'm invisible to him.]
Mingya could sense Charlotte's anger and frustration building up over the years.
Soon her behavior turned into snobbish and angry towards the staff as a manifestation of that, as Charlotte wrote in her diary, [I know I shouldn't be acting like this, but I can't help it. It's like I want to be noticed, to be seen by someone, anyone. So I lash out at the people around me.]
In the latest entry, she writes about pouring hot tea over a maid's dress. She expresses remorse, saying, [I feel so terrible for what I did to the maid. I didn't mean to hurt her, but my anger got the best of me. I wish I could take it all back.]
As she read Charlotte's diary, Mingya felt a sense of pity for the character and the difficult life she was forced to live in the shadow of her brother.
"What the hell is this? Why didn't the novel mention anything about Charlotte?!"
Wang Mingya muttered with frustration as she realized she had no idea how this character was involved in the plot of the novel.
Charlotte's diary entry was dated 676 AC (After Creation) in the month of Aurius, equivalent to January in Mingya's world.
With only three months left until the events of [Counterattack of the Villainess] began, Mingya felt a sense of urgency.
