Conversation II

After a while, Arthur finished thinking and raised his head to look at Zen.

"Oh right, what's your question again?"

"Oh yeah, I remember now. The Skill Acquisition Chance is it?"

"Yup, what exactly does it do?"

Zen asked curiously.

"Well hmmm…"

Arthur thought carefully and sorted out his words in order for Zen to easily understand.

"Then first, let me ask you this; how did the very first natives of this world gain their skills?"

Zen lowered his head with his right hand on his chin as the question that Arthur asked made him think.

After a while, he raised his head and said with an unsure expression on his face.

"Through the system…??"

Arthur smiled in a mysterious manner as he replied.

"Correct, but how?"

Lowering his head again, Zen thought and thought over again before saying,

"Then through training…???"

"Correct! More specifically, through repeated actions."

Arthur was satisfied at Zen's intelligence and continued.

"As the first natives of our world still don't know anything about the system at all, they only learned of it when the first skill came to the light of the world."

"The first few generations of natives needed to repeat a certain action many times, some taking tens or even hundreds of thousands repetitions in order to turn it into a skill."

"Of course, there are also variables in learning skills such as your environment, whether you are learning from scratch or have an instructor, and even your comprehension and potential are included in the said variables."

"The effect of your Skill Acquisition Chance is the fact that you will be able to have a higher chance in acquiring a skill quicker even without the use of a skill book."

Hearing this, Zen was overjoyed.

He also confirmed two things in Arthur's explanation.

The first one was the fact that the system was in this world since its beginning; or since the beginning of humans.

The second one was that his beloved overpowered title is really overpowered.

However, there was still something he wanted to ask.

"Then teacher, about the monster that attacked me…"

Arthur was a bit startled. Clearly, he had already forgotten about that matter.

"Oh right, I forgot that happened."

"..."

Zen was speechless by Arthur's carefree attitude.

'I almost died because of that creature! Why are you so unbothered by it!? Aren't I your precious apprentice!?'

Zen vented his anger in his heart.

After sorting out his words for a while, Arthur who was not aware of his thoughts said, "I mentioned earlier that there are myriads of races here in our world, right?"

Remembering that he indeed mentioned something about it earlier, Zen nodded in response.

Seeing this, Arthur continued.

"One of those races is called the Vampire race. I don't know if this race is familiar to you and your world but they are a powerful race."

"Although they look sickly pale, don't let their appearance deceive you into thinking that they're weak as it can be the cause of your downfall."

"They have a few racial talents such as super strength and blood magic. They can also use a mysterious power called blood magic."

"Although blood magic is powerful and versatile, they need blood in order to use it."

"They are also a race hated by many because of their desire and need to suck the blood of other creatures to live and to obtain power."

"Fortunately, as a part of nature, they also have their own weaknesses. A few of their weaknesses is that they are weak against light magic and silver weapons. However, the most fatal to them is the sun. Any vampire of low level would instantly turn into dust when touched by sunlight, though they also gain resistance against it as they level up and grow stronger."

Zen, who was listening carefully, posed a question at this time.

"Then, is the monster who attacked me a vampire?"

Arthur let out a soft chuckle and replied, "No, compared to vampires, the creature that attacked you is many times inferior."

Zen was disheartened when he heard this.

Seeing Zen's disheartened expression, Arthur chuckled even more.

"Haha! That's right, but don't be too disheartened over it. As I've said before, they have the ability to use blood magic right?"

Zen who was still cursing Arthur in his heart for being a sadist, nodded in response.

"Their mysterious blood magic has a lot of uses, they can be used directly as offensive means but one of the things that makes them special is the fact that the vampires can perform a blood ceremony with it."

"The vampire performing the ceremony can choose any creature of any race in order to turn them into their servant."

"The creature would receive power and the bloodline of a vampire, turning them into a branch of the vampire race."

"There are many types of vampire servants. Most of the time, the names of their race would have the word "vampiric" before it such as vampiric elves, vampiric dwarves and others."

"However, that was only the case when the creature who turned into a vampire servant through the blood ritual retained their intelligence."

"The one that attacked you is called Ghouls. They are mindless creatures, a slave to their desires and impulse. Unlike Vampires, ghouls prefer the flesh of the creature instead of their blood."

"And although they are inherently stronger than vampires in terms of strength stat, they have many disadvantages such as their inability to use magic because of their brainlessness. As such, even if a vampire and ghoul were to fight, it would be hard to decide who the winner will be."

All the fogs of confusion that shrouded Zen's mind were gone at this moment as he listened to Arthur.
