Arm Wrestling

A few minutes later, Rina noticed that Zen was ready to answer.

"Ummm… Mom, I don't really know what to do as of now. I guess I'll see when I have experience. For now though, I'll just get stronger as fast as I can."

Rina lightly smacked herself on the forehead. She had been carried away. 'My beloved son had just recovered from his illness… I shouldn't make things hard for him.'

"You're right. Just remember that whatever you decide to do, me, your dad and your sister will support you with all we have." After a short pause, Rina continued, "Oh well, let's stop talking about it. It's not my forte, it's better to have your father with us when talking about complicated things."

Rina started patting the ground as she talked and laid down on her stomach.

"For now… let me see how strong you are." She asked with a smile.

Zen was a little shocked at his mother's words. "Mom, I…"

"Don't worry about me. I'm quite strong too, you know? Of course, take it easy on your mom, I'm just curious about the gap between our strengths, so how about a little game of arm wrestling~?"

Seeing how eager his mother was, Zen acquiesced. He also laid down on his stomach in front of Rina and readied his arms and held Rina's hand.

"Okay, on the count of three. Mom, use all your strength. 1, 2, 3!" Zen reminded his mother before counting.

Rina let out a soft breath as she used all the strength in her hand and tried to push Zen's arm down.

However, although it was expected, she was still surprised by the fact that she couldn't even move her son's arms.

'Damn, this is the first time I lost in arm wrestling… I'm getting excited to enter the game now…' Rina thought in surprise.

On the other hand, Zen was also shocked.

'Mom's strength is between 3 or 4 Strength Stats when converted to stats. It also seems like she's using a technique in releasing strength. This…' The reason for his shock was his mom's terrifying strength.

Yes, he did say earlier that 5 was the utmost limit an average human on Earth could reach. However, he expected someone who was near or had reached that kind of strength to look like a mountain of muscle.

However, looking at his mother's lithe figure, Zen became shocked. Coupled with the fact that she seemed to be experienced in techniques that maximized her strength output, he thought of a question.

"Mom, can I ask something?" Zen said as he sat up.

Rina also sat up and replied, "What is it?"

"I remember you telling us about the matters regarding the meeting and the fact that you killed the president…"

Rina seemed to have an inkling of what her son was about to ask but she still waited patiently.

"So mom, I didn't ask at that time since I knew that it wasn't the right time, but it was clear that you and dad weren't as simple as you make yourselves seem to us. Although you were careful in telling us about killing the president, I noticed that it was only because you were worried about us and not because you felt guilty."

"I was also intrigued by your strength and techniques earlier. So, I want to ask who you and father really were. What did you do before I was born? Why did matters regarding killing not incite the smallest reaction from you?" Zen said while looking at his mother.

Rina fell silent for a while before saying, "It's not that I don't want to answer your question. I just don't know where to start. Your father and I will tell you everything once we get to our destination. As for now, I can only tell you that your father and I were very involved in World War III."

'World War III!?' Zen's heart shook. It was the first time he heard about this. Even when he spent most of his time on the internet for the past 10 years, not once did he come across information about World War III.

"Son? Hon?"

Before Zen could think any further, he heard his father's voice calling for him.

"Hon!" Rina, on the other hand, ran up straight at Ren before pouncing on him.

Ren happily hugged his wife as he looked towards Zen, "Son, what happened? Where are we?"

Rina giggled and answered her husband's questions one by one.

Looking at how flirty and clingy his parents were, Zen smiled. They were still his parents, no matter what they've gone through in the past, they were still the overprotective, caring, and loving parents that he loved so much.

Not long after, Sera also woke up. She looked around in alert and hurried towards her brother and parents when she saw them.

Noticing that only Sophie was asleep, Zen checked and saw that she was still sleeping. He informed Ren, Rina and Sera about what happened after they lost consciousness earlier while waiting for Sophie to wake up.

As Zen narrated what happened earlier, his family had all sorts of reactions which made him amused.

Especially in the part where he told them how he jumped a few miles in the air to reach the island from the aircraft, Sera pestered him to show how high he can jump.

He felt helpless but jumping forcefully would cause too much of a commotion.

He looked at his parents for help, only to see that they were also eager to see just how strong he became.

"Sir Ren? Ms. Rina?"

Fortunately, a voice was heard and interrupted their "bonding" time, saving Zen from his family who looked like children who were seeing magic tricks for the first time.

I apologize if the pace of the story seemed slow. I admit that this is due to my inexperience in writing. I do promise that it will get better though.

I hope that you had a pleasant reading experience~
