"Perhaps," Seraphina said, though her heart wasn't in it. "But even if we win, what then? My father as king... I'm not sure that's what's best for Eldoria."

Halward's gaze softened slightly, though his tone remained measured. "We fight for our lord, for our family's honor. That has always been our way. But if you have doubts, Seraphina, you should speak to your father. You're one of the few he truly listens to."

She nodded, though deep down, she knew it was futile. Raelis was too far gone, too consumed by his ambition. Nothing she said would change his mind. Still, she would go, if only to try one last time.

"Thank you, Halward," she said quietly, her resolve strengthening. "I'll see you in the courtyard."
