First Day On The Job

I sat on the top of a tall building, my eyes fixated on the city below.

"New York on a Saturday," I muttered under my breath while observing the bustling metropolis below me, "It's busy as hell,"

Everyone was busy doing their own thing and I pulled up my hoodie, my eyes roaming around… just on the day I wanted to try being a hero, there wasn't any crime.

My Supersuit consisted of a bunch of my "good" clothes that I had found in the closet, it was technically black overalls, with of course a black hoodie and a face mask – it was either that or my school uniform…

"I haven't even thought of a name for myself," I said as I jumped off the building, falling down several floors of the massive building before gaining control and shooting through the air – a few people on the ground spared a glance at me but soon returned to what they were doing, witnessing a hero fly across the city… it was normal nowadays.

I kept flying through the city, observing the calm streets. The few hours I had spent practicing how to fly wasn't useless, I was perfectly able to navigate my way through the air with ease. My feet soon touched another building as another sigh escaped my lips.

No crime… on my fucking first day of the job!

I felt dejected and was about to fly home only for an explosion to go off in the distance, I looked over my shoulder and saw the flames from the explosion intensifying and ravaging the surrounding area.

I immediately jumped off the building and shot in the direction of the explosion, if I was fast enough, it would only take a few minutes to get there.

The street was riddled with wreckage, residential buildings located next to the bank going up in flames and civilians fleeing everywhere. Screams could be heard from each corner, some unfortunate souls had been caught up in the explosion – their bodies blackened by the flames.

The bank had been the one taking the most blows in this situation, it had been the center of the explosion and everyone in the bank had died. A Villain walked out of the massacre, his body adorned with gray thick armor that stood unaffected by the flames. At the back of his suit were several tentacles, It would only take a glance to see one of these tentacles holding several bags of money.

"A successful robbery," He muttered under his breath, like the heroes – Villains had to make a name for themselves as well, and he was one of the newer villains, "I should probably escape into the sewers before the Police or Heroes arrive,"

A brilliant golden bolt of lightning shot through the air, slamming into his gray suit and bouncing off the armor instantly. The villain turned his head to the right and observed the Hero that had attacked him.

Her blond hair flowed in the wind as the crackling of flames from the nearby buildings filled their ears.

"Throwbolt eh? Didn't expect to see you here," He said to the hero clad in a tight fitting golden suit with several insignias of lightning adorning it.

"I don't know who you are but don't think you'll be let off easily after what happened here," Throwbolt said, raising both of her arms up and zapping the Villain with several golden bolts of lightning.

The suit however was built to be extremely durable, repelling the blasts of lightning with relative ease causing the Hero to furrow her eyebrows.

'His armor is thick,' Throwbolt thought, 'But if I focus my bolts on a single spot, I should be able to burn through it,'

She wasn't given much time to follow through on her thoughts as the tentacles spun around the Villain's back, shooting toward her direction with impeccable efficiency. Throwbolt however wasn't one to be toyed with, lightning sparked around her feet as she leaped backward clearing a distance of several meters before blasting the tentacles with powerful bolts of lightning.

The bolts of lightning bounced off the armor that coated the Tentacles and they slammed into the hero, sending her flying. Her back collided with the wall of a burning building and her lips quivered, shockwaves of pain going through her body.

The Villain on the other hand started laughing.

"It's just the first day! And I already beat a popular Hero!" He cried out in pride, his tentacles moving in the air like they were dancing but his laughter was brought to a pause as a young man in black overalls floated over him, silently.

"And who might you be?" The Villain asked.

I didn't pay him much attention, my attention was on the damage that had been done – it didn't faze me though, this was New York city, one of the most dangerous places in America… A Burning bank? It's normal stuff.

A tentacle shot through the air, slamming into my chest only for a resounding thud to fill the air. The metallic tentacle contorted to an unnatural degree much to the Villain's surprise and I dusted the point of impact, a grin visible on my face.

"I find more and more about myself everyday," I muttered and shot in the direction of the Villain, several tentacles shot toward me – a failed attempt at harming me as they were all destroyed the moment they smashed into my body.

After closing the distance between us, I slammed my foot into the chest plate of his armor, concentrating all of my power into that attack. The thick gray chest plate shattered upon impact and the force carried the Villain through the air, his back slamming against a pillar of the Burning bank.

He lost consciousness immediately and some of the tentacles unwrapped revealing several bags of cash, there were so many of them that I could barely count… I advanced toward the Villain, picking up one of the tentacles and bending it around him with my Super strength but even Throwbolt, the hero at the side couldn't notice me kicking away two of these bags to a corner.

'Have to make some profit from this shit,' I thought while throwing the Villain aside – my first fight was surprisingly easy.
