That came out a lot shakier than Sierra intended it to. But she was sick of worrying about him, dang it! Nathan was going to worry her until he stopped with this superhero nonsense if he ever did.
He let out a single bitter laugh. "I haven't told anyone. Why would I tell you?"
She recoiled slightly as if she had been slapped by his words. He hadn't told anyone? Not even Amber? His sister was the only other person who knew about his power so if he hadn't even told her…how serious was it?
"It isn't good to keep things locked inside, Nathan," Sierra said gently. "Getting it off your chest might help you. And if I know what's been bothering you all this time, I might be able to do something about it."
Nathan looked down at her with genuine anguish in his eyes. What on earth had happened to him? It had to be something unspeakably terrible for him to look like that.
