The Last Straw

When Nathan made it up to see Matthew, his bandages were off but the burns were still fairly visible. The first thing the man said to him was, "I heard you got caught in a fire but didn't realize the extent of your injuries. Was that the deciding factor?"

Blunt as ever. He never liked that this guy didn't know how to hold back for politeness' sake. Unfortunately, he was the only person that could help him.

Knowing that any and all lies would be caught, he told the truth. "People I love were worried about me and I guess it finally stuck. I did nearly die so I couldn't exactly talk my way out of it like usual."

"Good for you. While it is a shame the world's first superhero is going into retirement, you deserve some peace," Matthew said as he hooked him up to the EEG.

Nathan was more than slightly surprised that he actually showed some sympathy for once. "…has your sister been talking to you about me or something? That doesn't sound like you."
