Chapter 8: Salam-Alaikum

Expecting pain, I was met with a small prick on my chest.

Well, now, isn't that nice.

The follower was absolutely gob smacked with what was happening.

Here, he expected the knife to penetrate through to my heart but was met with the exact opposite.

He quickly let go of the knife and just looked at me with wide eyes. Even the other followers surrounding me had the same surprise that was on his face.

After inspecting the little hole that was now present on my shirt, I looked up towards my assailants with a wide grin.

Now, I wasn't really trying my hardest to scare away these guys but, apparently my grin made these 4 guys that were supposed to kill me buckle and fall over in utter fear.

"Who-who are you!?" asked one of the followers, now on the floor crawling backwards.

"Who am I?" I tried to suppress my grin, but with how they looked at me with fear and awe, I couldn't help but keep it on.

"You don't need to know." I said and immediately used Flame Kata and ran up to the closest guy in front of me.

Faster than the eye can blink, I was up in front of one of the guys and picked him up by the scruff of his neck.

"Scram." I said quietly but loud enough for him to hear and tossed him over the side of the boat and into the water.

3 guys left

I used Flame Kata again and was in front of one of the followers that was about to run away.

Though, before he could even stand up to run, I was already in front of him.

I grabbed onto his face and held him up in the air.

I wanted to try a move that I saw in an anime once, so I tossed him up.

As he was coming down, I held my fist up and was preparing one of the moves of Adamantine Kata.

Since I really didn't want to kill any of these guys, despite them trying to kill me, I held back a lot of strength.

Right before the follower was about to land on to the deck of the ship, I gave him a solid to the chest with the back of him fist that quickly sent him flying over the edge of the ship.

IRONBREAKER

As I was about to turn around to the last 2 guys, I was met with them standing in a puddle of their own piss.

Am I seriously that scary? To the point that they would start pissing their pants?

With a sigh, I looked away from them but sternly told them both "Alright, chill. I won't touch you guys since you're covered in filth."

I looked over the edge of the boat and saw everyone trying to swim to shore.

I was about to do the same and was about to toss myself over the edge before I heard Hassan call out to me.

"Deimos! Deimos! What are we going to do!? What are we going to do!?" He quickly asked me.

Not really wanting to deal with Hassan, I grabbed his shoulders and told him, "Wait here! I'll go get help!"

Hassan nodded his head and said "Right!"

Telling him that, I just quickly vaulted over the railing and into the water below.

-WITH HASSAN-

Hassan, seeing Deimos hop over the edge, turned around and waited for something to happen.

It took a few seconds but, now realizing what just occurred, winced his face and started yelling at his own stupidity.

He quickly turned around and jumped over the railing into the water.

-BACK WITH DEIMOS-

I swam a good distance away from the boat and wanted to really just relax for a bit.

The water was oddly comforting and the temperature was surprisingly warm.

I calmly floated in the water just looking at the night sky above me.

Don't really get these moments where I can just admire the beauty of the world.

Other than myself, of course. I smiled to myself at that thought.

Just floating around made me think of some things. Things that you only think of at like 3 am or something.

"Eve, what happens after I finish off Imhotep. I know there are more movies of this series and there was a remake of it too. Am I supposed to help them out too?" I asked aloud since there really were only people screaming in the background quickly getting out of the water and onto the shore.

{Deimos, you have the choice of either continuing the series to completion, that also includes the remakes, but you also have the option of ignoring them as well.}

"Are there no repercussions of ignoring them?"

{There are none, but the choice of getting them as worlds to go to again are extremely low.}

"I see…" I pondered for a bit more.

"Hey Eve, one more question and please be completely honest with me on this one."

{Ask away Deimos, I'll try to answer as best as I can.}

"If I wanted to, and this is completely hypothetical…live my life completely in one of the movies, making my own choices and deviating from the plot? I want to know if that's at all possible."

{Hmmm, you are the first to ask that. To answer your question, I'm sorry but, I don't really know. I'll have to ask my creator if it's possible.}

"No it's alright, I just wanted to know if it was possible. You can answer me later when you get one." I waved it off.

"Thank you for asking your creator for me though. I appreciate it."

{You're very welcome, Deimos. Now please, join the group, it looks like they are in a state of shock right now.}

I looked over to one side of the river and saw only Rick, Evelyn and Jonathan just standing there.

On the other side, everyone that abandoned ship was there, including all the horses.

I, of course, swam towards the main cast and quickly went over to them.

I saw Rick arguing with a little fellow named Beni who was on the other side of the river with everyone else.

The Beni fellow screamed out "O'Connell! It looks to me like I've got all the horses!"

Rick walked over to the water's edge and yelled out in response, "Hey Beni! Looks to me like you're on the wrong side of the river!"

I chuckled lightly as I got out of the river and saw Beni scoff on the other side.

Beni realized that Rick was indeed right and was having a temper tantrum due to the mishap.

I tried to wring out all the water that was causing my clothes to be so heavy and only wrung out my shirt and pants.

Can't really do it to my underwear in public now, can I?

After we were all a little more stable, more so them than me, we quickly discussed what our next course of action should be.

Rick told us that there was a little market a little ways away from the river and that we should make it in a couple hours through walking.

There was a slight problem that the group was glooming over, the only supplies that we had on hand was the bag that Rick was carrying before he jumped over.

Me, having the necessary preparations, quickly went to one of the areas that had high reeds obscuring the view of a small trap door.

'Please be here, please be here, please be here' I crossed my fingers as I opened the trap door.

'YES!' I quickly pulled out 3 large duffle bags that had all the supplies that I had bought from the black market and had delivered.

I quickly took them all towards the group and placed them in the center.

"Alright so, I know you guys are probably thinking, 'Oi, how did Deimos know that a couple bags would be here' and you guys have the right to be confused."

"But I bought a couple things in advance and did a LOT of research before joining you guys on the ferry. So take what you can carry from those two bags." I pointed to two bags that were pretty bulky.

"This one is mine though." I said as I opened the duffle bag that had the two tungsten made pistols and the tommy gun.

I heard Rick whistle to me and saw the two pistols that I was examining closely. I know that Rick of all people would be interested in the guns. Firstly because of their looks and secondly because Rick specializes in Colt M1911's. Though, right now he only has a pair of Chamelot 1873 Revolvers and the shotgun he managed to get in his bag.

I tossed him one of the guns and he quickly grabbed onto it.

Rick, not expecting the surprisingly heavy weight of the gun, almost dropped it.

"It's so heavy. You're gonna use these?" He said as he saw me put on a gun holster, similar to the one that he had.

"Yeah I am. It's not that heavy for me." I said as I signaled for him to toss me the gun so that I could secure it in my holster.

He tossed to which I caught perfectly.

I then inspected the tommy gun and carefully loaded it up with its 100 round drum.

Man was this thing a beauty.

Rick also seemed a little shocked at that. Considering it's the first time that he's seen it outside of the United States.

I then took out the 3 KG M21s and tossed one to Rick, one to Jonathan and one to Hassan.

I also gave them all a handgun each that I also bought.

Rick, being the gun guy of the group, asked me "Deimos, you brought even more firepower than me?"

"Yeah. Opportunity does not waste time with those that are unprepared." I said, remembering a quote I read before.

"No it does not…" Rick said as he too was going through the other two duffle bags that I dropped.

In those two were some essentials. Things like some rations, clothing for both men and women and some small camping tools as well.

Jonathan and Evelyn were also kind of shocked when I brought over the bags but chalked it up to the sort of person they made me out to be. I guess I was some sort of prepper in their eyes.

And Hassan was busy…well…doing Hassan things.

Evelyn was kind of nitpicky with the choice of clothing that was in the bags but hey, anything was better than the ruined nightgown she had on.

After we all got ready and such, we followed Rick through the desert.

-TIMESKIP 8 HOURS-

Good god.

Walking through the desert reminded me of the penalty world that I was in.

During our walk, I kind of had some sort of PTSD with how similar the surroundings looked to the penalty world.

Because of that, I had a knack for looking behind me and walking with caution before we made it to the market.

It did earn me some weird looks with everyone but I didn't let it get to me.

When we made it, everyone but me, quickly fell down onto the sandy ground massaging their legs.

"Jeez, Deimos. Are you not tired at all?" asked Jonathan as he saw me not really out of breath or tired.

"I could do that all day, don't you worry." I said with a smirk.

"Good looking, smart, and athletic as hell. Why didn't God bless me like he did you?" Jonathan whined on the floor.

"It's alright. Maybe pray more?" I chuckled at Jonathan's antics.

We rested up for a couple hours before we really started looking around for any form of transport.

I mean walking for me is no problem at all, but I can't really speak for them.

So because of that, we decided to get some camels since that was the only thing available.

Me, Rick and Jonathan were bartering with a man that owned a herd of camels while Hassan was being Hassan and Evelyn was being doted on by the women of the market.

I saw Hassan talking to a group of women to which they proceeded to start beating him after Hassan was being himself.

I laughed a bit and made my way over to him.

"Ahem. I'm sorry for this guy's behavior." I apologized on Hassan's behalf and bowed my head to show them that I really meant it.

They all saw my face when I told them and at the sight, all had a deep red blush.

They quickly told me that it wasn't really an issue before glaring at Hassan.

"Thank you for understanding, Salam-alaikum." I told them before I dragged Hassan away.

While I dragged away Hassan, I heard Jonathan loudly shouting at the camel owner "I only want 5! 5! I only want 5, not a whole bloody herd!"

He quickly turned to Rick who just looked bored.

"O'Connell! Ugh, can you believe the cheek!?" Jonathan said to Rick.

"Will you just pay the man!?" Rick said not having any of it.

Jonathan, not wanting to barter anymore since the owner wasn't really budging, took out his wallet and said "Oh, for heaven's sake! Can't believe the price of these fleabags."

He handed the owner a couple bills which seemed to make the owner a very happy man.

"Yes, happy? Very good." said Jonathan as he and Rick took the camels by the reins and walked over to me and Hasan.

"Probably could've gotten them for free. All we had to do was give him your sister." Rick said.

"Yes. Awfully tempting, wasn't it?" Jonathan replied.

I saw Rick freeze up right after Jonathan spoke to him though.

I followed his line of sight and saw him staring at Evelyn's new attire.

She wore a black Egyptian maxi dress that really set her apart from any women that I've seen ever.

Man, Rick is so lucky.

"What's up Rick, cat got your tongue?" I asked Rick as he got out of his daze.

"Oh me, uhh nothing." Rick said, trying to get rid of his intrusive thoughts.

"Oh come on, I know that she's leaving an impression on you. Bet you wish I let you kiss her, eh? I said nudging my elbow at him.

"You have no idea. Speaking of which, why'd you stop me?" asked Rick.

I shrugged and said "I don't know, I guess I was just brought up too well."

"Yeah, I guess." said Rick.

The real reason was just because I didn't want to cringe so hard, but that's something for me to know and for him to never know.

After we all restocked with our supplies, we set out in the direction of Hamunaptra.

Not wanting to delay anything, we had the camels pick up the pace a little bit so that we could get there before the American group.
