The place was flooded with light for several seconds with the silhouette of a large dragon still in the air after Goku's attack.

And when everything returned to normal, the silhouette of the opponents was palpable. Cell had his abdomen pierced due to the dragon's fist.

"D-damn Goku, how did you do that technique?" Cell asked trying to stop the injury. That powerful attack was not in his database.

Goku was panting heavily, his energy reserves almost completely depleted after that dragon attack.

"We have to finish it off now Kakarot!" Vegeta exclaimed, flying to a stop at Goku's height, and Raditz followed him without wasting any more time.

"Saturday..." Raditz started preparing his attack, "Wh-what do you expect? He's going to regenerate!"

Vegeta charged up a Garlick Ho while Goku used what little of his energy was left. Humans also came to help.

Tien carrying a Neo Tri Beam and Yamcha with a Kamehameha, just like Goku. Everyone knew that this would be his last chance to win.

"HAAAH!" they all shouted launching their attacks towards Cell, who was surprised in the process of recovering when he received those attacks.

Then, there was a powerful explosion accompanied by a great vestísca. A smoke screen and a play of lights filled the site.

Goku slumped to the ground breathing heavily and Raditz sighed turning to face him. "I didn't expect that attack, not bad huh!"

"Right? It came to me thanks to Gohan" Goku commented with a weak smile that left everyone in the room intrigued.

"And so?" asked the older brother.

"Absorb all the energy of the Spirit Bomb, and gather it in my fist. Gohan had a technique like that" Goku said remembering the talk with the little boy.

"Hmpf, that brat is the protagonist even when he's not here" Vegeta grumbled and everyone gave a slight smile seeing him annoyed.

"We should go gathering the dragon balls, right? We must resurrect Piccolo and Krillin as well" Tien intervened immediately.

"Besides Nappa, and everyone that Cell absorbed" Goku added smiling, because the monster ended the lives of many human beings.

"Don't you think it's a little early for that?" a voice came from behind the smokescreen and suddenly every one of them was on guard.

It was Cell, who was protected with the classic energy barrier of Android 17. In addition, he was already healed from the wound from Goku's fist.

"Wh-what the hell is going on with this monster?" Raditz was terrified, never in his life had he met someone so powerful and resistant.

Cell smiled and undid that Ki barrier and stepped forward while the others backed away not knowing what else to do against Cell.

They had tried everything: Vegeta with his new power, the explosion of 16, the dragon fist, etc. And yet, none of it had worked!

"H-he's too powerful! N-none of us are up to it" Goku smiled despite the critical situation trying to stand up.

'Damn, where the hell is Gohan?' Raditz asked with resignation helping his brother to support himself, "Damn insect"

"It has been an admirable battle, at times I thought they would beat me but none of them had the level to do it" Cell crossed his arms happily.

He enjoyed every battle, no matter how dangerous and adverse it was for him, but almost no one ever came close to defeating him.

"Now what are you planning, you vermin?!" Vegeta demanded clenching his fists angrily at him.

"I could destroy this planet but it wouldn't be any fun, how about I give you one last chance?" Cell snapped cheekily.

"Last chance?" Goku felt curious about those words and the others were the same.

"That's right, I was surprised that you increased their powers so quickly. If I give you a leeway, maybe you would make the battle more fun."

"I have Saiyan blood, so I would like to fight against you at your highest level. And therefore I will organize a tournament" the beast commented.

"T-tournament?" Yamcha was puzzled.

"The one who defeats me will save the Earth, easy" Cell held up his finger, "It will be in the style of the old martial arts tournaments. Well, do you accept the challenge?"

They were all processing it. Because Cell was literally giving them the chance to beat him in a tournament and save the planet.

"What are you up to lizard?!" Vegeta yelled angrily. He felt that this proposal hurt his pride. Cell was underestimating them!

"Okay, we accept your challenge Cell" Goku intervened with a big smile, surprising everyone, "And when would that supposed tournament be?"

"Worthy of you Son Goku, soon they will have news about my tournament" Cell smiled and suddenly took off, "I hope to see Gohan present"

"Do not doubt that he will be!" Goku smiled back and Cell nodded, before walking off. Not even a minute passed when Vegeta approached.

"Why did you agree?! Didn't you see that he is hanging out with us?" Vegeta scolded him and Goku dropped back to the ground.

"None of us could win, this buys us more time until Gohan returns" Goku replied with a smirk, "Whew, that was a great battle"

Vegeta gritted his teeth in annoyance and grumbled in resignation. Even with his pride he knew that this had been the best possible decision for all of them.

"Damn" Yamcha sat on a rock sighing, "I don't know when the tournament will be, but we should keep training to win"

"You're not going to fight, this time I'll take care of Cell" Vegeta pointed his thumb at himself, and igniting his aura he left.

"Tsk, poor fool" Raditz scoffed and lowered his head looking at his brother, "What do you say?"

"I haven't reached my limit yet but I don't want to push my body so much" Goku slowly got up from the ground, "Ugh, let's go see Dende"

Goku stood up with the help of his friends and older brother. He placed two fingers on his forehead concentrating on feeling Kami-sama's Ki.

"Perfect" Goku disappeared with the others and barely in the blink of an eye they appeared at Kami's lookout with Dende and Mr Popo there waiting.

"Finally you are back friends!" Dende ran full of joy, "What an anguish we suffered, I will help you to replenish your energy, make yourself comfortable"

"Raditz!" Launch, with her blue hair, ran towards the warrior, who allowed himself to be embraced by his lover. He wasn't going to deny it, he missed her.

Chi-Chi hugged Goku, who sat on the ground and closed his eyes with a smile. Dende came over to replace the Saiyan and restore him.

"Goku, will you guys train in the time room again?" Mr Popo approached to ask, but the Saiyan denied smiling.

"For my part, I won't come back, maybe Vegeta and Raditz will" Goku replied and at the moment Dende finished healing him, "Thank you very much"

"Tsk, we'll have to do something to beat that monster" Raditz growled and it was his turn to be healed by Dende, "I'll train again"

"Perfect, it only remains..." Goku was going to say but suddenly he felt an energy that made him and the others turn around, quite intrigued.

A boy in a white cloak and a dark blue suit was standing at the edge of the watchtower, looking down. And he suddenly turned around.

He was the hero of this story. Gohan.
