36 Chapter 36: Goodbye Earth!

As soon as everyone realized that Goku seemed to be talking to himself, they went over to see what he was doing. They got a big surprise.

"That's fantastic King Kai!" Goku exclaimed excitedly, "I'm really surprised that they got to your planet even faster than me!"

'Oh, they came half a month earlier than the original series' Gohan thought with a smile, that was pretty good really. A nice change.

"They are stronger than you when you arrived" King Kai said smiling, "They are very eager to start the training!"

"Yes! I want to become as strong as Goku" Yamcha exclaimed with a smile, but Piccolo who was next to him showed little interest.

"Hey Kai, I want to talk to Goku" Piccolo said approaching the deity, who was surprised since until now he had not uttered a word.

"It's King Kai! Be more respectful to me!" he corrected him with an angry streak in his head, "Put your hand on my shoulder and talk to him"

"Hpmf" Piccolo didn't care and did as King Kai said, "Can you hear me Goku? It's me Piccolo, you're still training, right?"

"Of course Piccolo! I have to become more powerful to go to Namek" Goku answered excitedly, "I hope you train too!"

"You're not the only one who will become strong... that goes for you too dwarf! I know you'll be going to Namek very soon" Piccolo said smiling.

Gohan was moved when he heard Piccolo's voice, it was a lot that he had lived with the Namekian during the last year and a half...

"Indeed Piccolo, I hope you make the most of your time there because I will become stronger than you can imagine!" uttered little Son.

"Always bragging kid, we'll settle accounts when I come back" Piccolo said crossing his arms, "Get the dragon balls"

"I already know that, you don't have to tell me, I'll resurrect you so you can have your revenge" declared the boy with a smile on his face.

"Tsk, I'll wait in this little place, be careful" Piccolo withdrew after saying those words and King Kai looked at him angrily.

"C-calm down King Kai, he's like that" Yamcha noticed and tried to mediate, "Guys, train as hard as you can, I'll do the same here!"

"Consider it done Yamcha!" Krillin jumped happily "We are learning a technique with which our powers will increase a lot"

While these two continued talking, Gohan took the opportunity to get away from them a bit. But then Goku stopped him from walking away.

"That thing you did before was very similar to a Spirit Bomb" Goku spoke curiously, "How is it possible that you can do it without learning it?"

Gohan gulped at hearing this, he had forgotten how smart his father was when it came to anything related to fighting, he was a genius!

"You told us the basics and I learned more about Ki from Kami-sama... so I tried to do it" Gohan replied scratching the back of his neck.

"I see, but you should gather the energy in your hand to focus it better" Goku advised him with his hand under his chin, and the young boy nodded.

'I know dad, but that's not my goal' Gohan thought with a drop of sweat on his head, "Okay, let's continue training the Kaio-ken"

"Yes, even if you can use the base form, you still have to strengthen your body so that you can resist the other increases of the Kaio-ken" Goku explained.

Father and son returned with the others. They had very little time before the adventure on planet Namek began and they had to take advantage of it.

"Here you go, this first prototype contains twenty beans," Bulma said handing him a bag, "It was hard to recreate them, take good care of them!"

Four days had passed since then, and the training continued without any relevant developments in the arduous learning of the Kaio-ken.

Gohan was already able to gather the Genki of plants and animals but since he was not injured the effects couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

Now the time had come to leave for Namek. Right now they were gathered at Capsule Corporation to say goodbye to him...

"Yes, I'll try to use them wisely" Gohan said smiling and put the bag away. He had cut his hair and was wearing his father's blue-orange gi.

"This is the dragon radar, I already taught you how to read the coordinates" Bulma held the object out to the little boy, "Yeah… I guess that would be all"

Throughout these three weeks Bulma had taught him the basics so that he wouldn't have any problems on Namek with the ship and such.

"Thank you Bulma, I'm really grateful to you" Gohan spoke making a small bow and turned to the others, "Okay, I have to go!"

"Take care son, when you come back I'll cook you anything you want!" Chi-Chi exclaimed with tears welling up in his eye sockets and Gohan felt bad.

It had been almost a year since she'd seen him, his only son, and now he was leaving again, to top it off to another planet. Chi-Chi was a very, very strong woman.

Therefore, he ran to wrap his arms around her and merge into an embrace with her. Chi-Chi closed her eyes and returned the gesture with all her love.

"Come back soon Gohan, I'll miss you" commented the woman separating from him, "Your father will be gone in a week, so be careful"

"I'll be fine mom" Gohan spoke smiling, "Dad, Uncle Raditz, train to your limits, and I hope you two get along better"

"Leave it to me child! You worry about increasing your strength" Raditz said with his arms crossed, "Don't forget to practice the Ozaru form"

"Ugh, it would be a bit dangerous to transform into the ship, but I'll keep training" Gohan replied thinking of several alternatives, 'Maybe Ikari mode?'

"Remember to train at a gravity that your body can withstand" Goku added raising a finger and Gohan nodded seriously at that.

"We trust you Gohan, gather the dragon balls for us" Krillin said with a smile and Tenshinhan nodded supporting such words.

"I won't disappoint you friends" said the boy walking towards the ship, and started to climb the stairs, "See you soon! Take good care of yourselves!"

Gohan shared one last look with his father, no words were said. There was no need, the two understood each other perfectly...

Once inside, Gohan walked over to the control panel and pressed the button to start the countdown before ship takeoff.

With a few seconds left he sat down and buckled himself up. He crossed the fingers of his hands as he thought about various things.

'Namek... Vegeta, the Ginyu forces, and of course, Frieza are waiting for me' the boy thought, 'I only have five days, I'll have to train like never before'

"Initiating takeoff" a robotic voice echoed in the ship and at the moment it rose to the thermosphere at a shocking speed.

Having dropped out of Earth's orbit, Gohan got up from his seat and did some stretches before taking a couple of steps.

And he stopped in front of the gravity panel that occupied the center of the ship. Now, it marked a gravity of one, which was Earth's.

"There's no time to waste, I'll raise the gravity to fifteen" Gohan said fearlessly and pressed the button to increase the gravity inside the ship.

Not even half a second passed when his body felt the consequences, but it wasn't enough to knock him down. Despite this, it was not easy.

"Well! I'll start doing exercises to adapt my body" Gohan said starting to do squats, "One...two...three...four"
