Within the [Spirit Hand Talisman Method] jade slip, there was a section of the text that described the creation structure of talismans.
In principle, all variations within the Spirit Hand lineage were derivable from certain basic principles, but the principles were still too complex for Lem to remember, much less understand.
The important information came after the general explanation, when the text described the specific creation structure of many different types of talismans, including Flame Talismans, Piercing Talismans, and Fortification Talismans.
One talisman stood out to both Lem and his simulated self.
The Hidden Breath Talisman.
It specialized in hiding aura!
If a cultivator was using the talisman, almost every spiritual aspect within them would be hidden, including spiritual energy signatures and soul fluctuations. This meant that if Lem's simulated self could create a Hidden Breath Talisman, he could conceal the presence of evil on him!
Of course, it would not work on beings of every power level, but it would at least prevent those of the Spirit Refinement Realm and below from sensing him.
This was not the only unique characteristic of the Hidden Breath Talisman.
Most other talismans had a limited period for which they worked. The spiritual energy channeling through the talisman would slowly wear down the structure.
When the structure broke, the effect would disappear.
With the Hidden Breath Talisman, the channeling process was extremely mild and did not degrade the talisman structure. This meant that unlike other talismans, it could theoretically run forever.
However, in practice, this would not occur, as there were a number of conditions under which the Hidden Breath Talisman could still break. For instance, if a sufficiently powerful being tried to detect the user then the structure would collapse from the strain.
Lem did not know the upper level of strength for the most powerful cultivators in Lang Town, but his guess was that it was no higher than the Spirit Refinement Realm.
His intuition came from his awareness of the massive gap between realms.
If Master Brightflame was an elder of a martial school and only at the Second Stage, then it seemed unreasonable that there would be experts that were a realm higher than the Third Stage of Spirit Refinement, a level that was not even recorded in the [Mountain Sitting Technique].
Of course, he did not know this for sure, so even if he was successful in creating a Hidden Breath Talisman he would only go to the town as a last resort.
Still, Lem's knowledge of the Hidden Breath Talisman was extremely impactful, both for his current simulated self, and for his real body in the future.
If his simulated self could create a Hidden Breath Talisman, then he would have the option to go to Lang Town if he ran out of opportunities in the forest.
In such a situation, if he gained benefits from the town, then they would be passed down to the real body.
[After digesting the information inside of the jade slip, you grow excited. The Hidden Breath Talisman, one of the talismans described, happens to have the property of concealing auras, including that of evil.
You remember seeing some talisman papers in one of the pouches among the martial elder's possessions, and you vaguely recall the presence of a talisman brush on the ground near the harvest tree.
You consider returning to the pond to retrieve the brush and to look for talisman ink…]
After seeing what was on the simulation screen, Lem felt mixed emotions.
He had also realized from the [Spirit Hand Talisman Method] that the strange yellow papers he had found with the incomplete alchemy recipe were actually talisman papers, and felt excitement when he saw that all of the necessary materials were potentially available for his simulated self.
However, he felt slightly depressed when he saw that his simulated self was already considering a return to the pond.
There were still two more jade slips to look at!
