= Sarah POV =
After breakfast, Chris changed into jeans and a white t-shirt and drove me down to the café. She parked her car across the road at a public parking lot and walked me to the café. On the way over she explained that she was considering putting in more hours at the café since she had the time now to do it.
"Are you planning on working with Heather or with Jun more?" I asked as I held the door open for Chris.
"Well, seeing how much you like the morning breakfasts, I would like to learn from the best, so yeah, probably in Jun's department at first, before switching over later on" Chris explained as she entered the café.
"Look who decided to show up. Chris, did you finally quit your position at the hotel and dedicate your life to our humble abode?" Heather said as she strode over to give Chris a half-shoulder hug in greeting.
"Haha you wish, I'm still very much employed, though I need a word with Jun, is she in already?" Chris asked cheerfully.
"Yeah she's in the kitchen slave driving the newbies as usual" Heather replied sombrely.
"Nice, let me go stir shit up" Chris grinned then turned to me "I'll pick you up at four," Chris said before disappearing into the kitchens.
"You two came together today?" Heather asked as we both made our way to the back staircase to get to the admin offices.
"Yeah, she is technically 'Working From Home' so she offered to drop me off at work. She had mentioned wanting to put in more hours here as she feels she has been neglecting you guys" I explained sheepishly, not quite sure if I should be vocalizing Chris' personal opinions.
"Awe, she still cares after all these years! Ok well if she does sign on, we will have to push back the company retreat so that she has time to complete her onboard training to join in the festivities" Heather said, taking out her phone and updating her schedule.
"Company retreat?" I inquired as we stepped into the lift.
"Yeah, every year we take a week off and go into the mountains, the whole company of us, with family. There is a lovely hot spring that is huge enough to accommodate large groups, and we often book out the entire inn for that week to accommodate everyone and their families. It's currently booked for two weeks however if we are welcoming new staff, Jun will need at least two weeks to train them, so I'm going to push the retreat back to next month" Heather explained " Oh and that means I'll need you to look into call them up and settle the cancellation fees" Heather said and I got a notification from my phone saying that I had been added to the "Café Retreat Planning Committee" A bunch of information was shared there and as I scrolled through, I could easily see the document I would need to refer to.
"Sure, I'll get right on it" I smiled brightly.
We exited the lift and went our respective ways, Heather had a meeting and I headed to my desk to set today's tasks as well as the booking cancellation fees and request.
