'Final Revenge' (3)

But even after that, Matthew thought that it still wasn't enough.

He decided to invest his entire savings into hiring a private investigator to delve deeper into the group of criminals responsible for Vivian's death.

He wanted to know everything about that same group of robbers that killed Vivian, and sure enough, after a few months, the information had been gathered.

In the meantime, Matthew spent those months training his body, martial arts, and even marksmanship.

He wanted to prepare himself to be ready, just in case there was anything more related to it.

And surprisingly, there was.

Vivian had been hiding her true identity from Matthew. She was actually the president's daughter.

Matthew also remembered that there were many cameras in the amusement park they visited, which was unexpected.

Now everything started to make sense to Matthew.

Killing the president's daughter on live TV was clearly a message to the president himself.

As for the group that killed Vivian, they were known as the "Red Knight Mercenaries," a mercenary group from overseas seeking to establish a foothold in the city.

The moment he knew about that same group, Matthew started taking revenge. Firstly, he infiltrated himself into the mercenary group.

He disguised himself very well, making a lot of fake ID's to prove his 'innocence' and successfully entering it.

Then, as he climbed through the ranks of the group, he started making an underground company, and slowly but surely...

He was going to take down the mercenary group, which happened not to long after.

Carefully, he killed everyone in their own 'base' alone, using a mere handgun with a silencer.

Because he had gathered too much trust from the group, nobody would expect to be stabbed in the back by him.

And even if Matthew died, he had already commanded his company to bomb the entire place.

Then, he simply left their 'base' where, just a few minutes later, a bunch of planes appeared in the sky, dropping bombs...

Matthew stood quietly at a large distance from the 'base' looking at it being completely destroyed.

"I... did it."

"...I avenged Vivian..." He lay down on the ground, looking at the clear sky that had been dirtied by the pollution caused by the bombs.

His eyes looked particularly empty, but as if he felt two hands caressing his cheek, the same vibrant tone from before reappeared.

"Now, I guess I'll be spending the rest of my life on luxuries." He smiled faintly.

He didn't expect that just by getting revenge, he would actually get such high authority.

So, he started to enjoy his life again, but this time he decided to drive to his mother's house and spend the rest of his life there.

After all, they were his only family members left, and now Matthew had experienced losing someone, so he didn't want to lose another person dear to him.

While he seemed just like a normal person under his family's eyes, he was the devil behind them.

He stood there, protecting them and having fun, until he finally died.

As for how he died?

Not even Matthew knows the cause.

"Ah...!"

Matthew woke up suddenly, his heart racing as he gasped for breath and felt his chest pounding.

Thump! Thump!

"Huff... Did I have that nightmare once again?" He wiped the sweat from his forehead, looking around the unfamiliar room.

As his heartbeat started slowing down, he took a deep breath, before exhaling deeply.

"Let's get out of here." He spoke to himself, sitting up from the bed and opening the door of the room.

Sniff...!

Upon opening the door, a sweet aroma reached his nostrils, which made him swallow hard.

In the room, Lilian stood cooking, wearing an apron and humming a little sound that made his ears chirp uncontrollably.

"Oh my~, are you awake already?" Hearing the door open, she turned her head and gave Matthew a small, endearing smile.

"How was your sleep?"

Though a little stunned, Matthew just shook his head and answered.

"Terrible."

"Mhm, I guess you indeed had a nightmare. Is it perhaps related to some trauma?" She asked leisurely.

"..." Matthew chose not to respond to her words; in any case, Lilian would know that it was related to some kind of trauma.

"Take a seat; I have prepared food for the two of us."

With a wave of her hand, a strange force lifted Matthew off the ground and led him to sit on the chair, where an abundance of dishes materialized before his eyes.

Then, Lilian removed the apron and sat down in front of Matthew. She began placing food on his plate before Matthew could respond or do anything.

Matthew's eyes narrowed slightly, but with a sigh, he cut down a bit of the steak on his plate and then ate it.

"!!!" His eyes widened upon tasting.

It was utterly delicious!

He could confidently say that it was the best steak he had already eaten in his entire life.

"Did you like it~?" Lilian's eyes turned into a crescent moon as she held her chin with her hand, smiling charmingly at Matthew.

With that small move, all of her facial details were fully displayed, giving Matthew an extraordinary sight.

"Um. It tastes incredible." He replied bluntly.

Hearing his words, Lilian's smile twitched a bit; he complemented and offended her at the same moment.

He told her her food tasted good, but he said it in such a blunt manner that it irritated her.

"Sigh... You should be more honest. How are you going to get a girlfriend this way?" Lilian uttered lazily.

"Mhm?"

Suddenly, Lilian blushed as she caught Matthew's gaze, illuminated by the sunlight streaming through the window.

His light blue eyes with the black-spade symbol gleamed as his hair swayed gracefully in the breeze.

'Forget it...!' Lilian thought to herself, feeling flustered.

"By the way, what happened? Did I pass out?" Matthew asked after wiping his mouth with a napkin.

"Oh! Yes, you passed out in the hallway, so I brought you here," Lilian explained, taking a bite of her food.

"Ah, I see. Was anyone else with me?" Matthew narrowed his eyes slightly, considering the possibility that Stella might have been there.

"No, I didn't see anyone else," Lilian replied casually.

Matthew paused, wondering if Stella had left when she saw Lilian approaching, or if something else had happened.

"Oops, you've got a bit of food on your face," Lilian observed, standing up and moving closer to Matthew.

She delicately wiped away the stray food from the corner of his lips, her face inches away from his.

As she leaned in, their eyes met, and Lilian's breath hitched.

"Ah..."

Gulp...!

Her lips parted slightly as she swallowed hard, seeing Matthew so close to her.

Her gaze lingered on Matthew's lips, her own trembling slightly as she fought the urge to lean in closer.

"H-hey... what are y—!"
