The professor walked in carrying a black briefcase. With a thud it dropped beside his desk making all the present students flinch. Then in a very proficient manner, the professor took out a red marker from the desk. Facing the whiteboard, the professor began to write in large fonts.

Whilst the professor wrote, some students had an odd fixation on the professor's briefcase that sat harmlessly.

They only had one thought.

T-that sounded really heavy… It's not full of assignments for us is it?!

An echo of gulping could be heard.

Hidden from the students, the professor's lips curled upward.

Finishing what he was writing, the professor made an exaggerated horizontal swipe.

Turning towards the students, "Some of you may have heard of me, my name is Ke Yunlan. You may address me as Professor Ke."

His eyes swept the classroom. "I am going to be honest with you all. This class is not going to be easy. It's going to be difficult, you will need to put a lot of effort in this class. So I will ask you to put away your phones, your electronics, and all other distractions. Most of all, I ask you to be present in this class, otherwise you will not understand the materials. If you cannot fulfil these, then it is in your best interest to drop this class."

Making sure that all eyes were on him, he continued, "You are all adults and I am not your parent, nor will I be like your highschool teacher. I will not hover over you and correct all your wrongs. You can do what you want in this class as long as you do not interrupt my lecture. You can choose to listen and do the class work or fool around and fail this course. And I will watch you fail in this class because you have chosen to do so by your own actions. Of course, if you do need help, you are welcome to ask questions or come to office hours. Does everyone understand?"

There were mixed feelings among the students. Apprehensive, unsure, calmness, indifference. But none dared to speak and instead nodded their heads.

"Good then I'll start with explaining today's lesson plan. Introductions can wait until after I lock the door."

As Professor Ke began to talk, his domineering no-nonsense aura he had at the beginning faded. As a result, it was only now that the students had the chance to finally see this infamous "Professor Ke".

Hair styled in an undercut, it perfectly brought out his sharp facial features. Dark almond eyes, almost piercing— ah, no, they're perfectly normal eyes, this is just the biased outlook of terrified students. Thin lips that seem to almost curl mockingly, overall Professor Ke Yunlan is a handsome man.

He was young too, just in his mid-thirties.

Some of the students sighed dreamily. Why couldn't their dad look handsome like this as well ah?

None of them harbored any thoughts of teacher-student romance.

After all, there is a reason why Professor Ke Yunlan is so infamous, especially among the more wealthy students.

This is Professor Ke Yunlan's fourth year working at Huilan University. In his first year, he had nearly started a bloodbath, literally, while a metaphorical one had already been started.

Everything began when Professor Ke Yunlan was approached by one of his students. With a smug look, they tossed out a blank check onto his desk and told him to write how much he thought an A cost. Thinking it was a joke, naive young Ke Yunlan refused.

It was this refusal that ignited the whole series of events.

First the mother of the student pleaded with him to give her child an A. Then when he refused, she sneered and tossed out the famous villain lines of "you'll regret this!"

Many other professors tried to persuade Professor Ke Yunlan to just concede after all nothing good comes from offending those people from prominent families. However, Professor Ke Yunlan was too stubborn.

Soon after, the forums were flooded with pictures of him in ambiguous poses with younger female students.

Cries of outrage rang out and soon he was isolated by his coworkers, and had multiple reports filed to the Education Bureau. Parents came in and out of the university daily.

But Professor Ke Yunlan remained indifferent to all of this, until two weeks later when he got jumped and beaten up. Luckily a good hearted passerby saw this and called the police before it got too serious.

It was then when Professor Ke Yunlan filed a lawsuit against a whole bunch of people.

Evidence was slammed around, smacking a lot of peoples' faces.

There was solid evidence of professors taking bribes and giving out A's. Some bribes being very inappropriate.

The whole matter of him and the female students were cleared up as well with personal testimonies from said students.They were told to just make contact with Professor Ke Yunlan or create some way to get his attention. Some were threatened, others paid with money, and some were just pure accident.

A voice recording was leaked online. It created a huge wave as it directly revealed who was behind Professor Ke Yunlan getting beaten. The assailants had stupidly confessed while assaulting him and even revealed that this wasn't the first time they did this as well.

As a bonus, a video was also posted alongside the recording. It was taken from the newly installed camera that was near the incident.

Digging deeper, it turned out that multiple professors that had been fired in the previous years had also been a victim of such things. Most had retired with a ruined reputation and serious injuries while some, some had chosen to end it all.

When everything came out public, multiple companies with the people involved had their stocks dropped. Some companies even went bankrupt and were soon swallowed up by others.

Watching all of this play out in his mind, Gu Musheng smiled.

Ke Yunlan wasn't so simple.

In fact this whole backstory wasn't so simple.

How did Ke Yunlan not get fired when multiple reports were filed against him?

Why did those female students confess?

Where did the evidence of professors taking bribes come from?

With these, a tragic logical backstory could probably be conjured up with some revenge plot right?

Well that's exactly why it ended up like so.

Oh and those bankrupt companies ended up being bought by a certain company called "Xiang Ni".

Which was owned by the lover of Ke Yunlan's brother.

This event had thoroughly etched itself into those prominent families who had children entering Huilan.

Hence why Professor Ke Yunlan is so infamous.

And it was this exact infamous man that the male lead was locked in a battle right now.
