Chapter - 1: I Start as Quincy

-------

Kurosaki Ichigo POV

I open my eyes slowly, the sound of the alarm pulling me from sleep. The ceiling above me is familiar, yet strangely different. I stare into the void, the memories of this new life slowly resurfacing in my mind.

"Yeah... it's all real..." I murmur to myself, as if needing to confirm that the reality I'm living in isn't just a dream. And yet, it feels almost surreal.

I'm not who I used to be anymore.

Now, I am Ichigo Kurosaki.

I need to adapt—to the mind, the body, and the circumstances surrounding me. A new country, a new world, a new life that I chose for myself and must now face head-on to move forward.

Everything has changed. And danger? It's always lurking just around the corner, especially in a world like this. Not only is it full of people with absurd powers, hax abilities that defy logic, but there are also still unknown secrets I absolutely need to uncover.

I'm in his body, his life, his world. But me? I'm not like him. I'm not the kind of guy who dives headfirst into trouble to save others without a second thought. Don't get me wrong, I'm no coward.

But I'm not an endlessly selfless hero like Ichigo. He lives to protect those around him, ready to sacrifice everything—even his life—just to fulfill that desire.

And yet, I wonder: if you save everyone around you, who will look after you? Who will save you, especially when you don't have enough power to do it yourself?

"Sorry, Ichigo," I think, guilt tugging at me. "I'm not sure I can live up to who you are."

Even so, something about this new life feels like it might suit me. I have powers I never imagined having, and though they still feel foreign, there's a part of me eager to put them to the test.

It's funny how life changes, isn't it? Because even though I now possess these absurd abilities—abilities that seem almost too normal for this world—I was just an ordinary guy in my previous life. A normie.

I get up slowly, taking in the room around me.

Ichigo's room—or rather, my room from now on—was the classic haven of a nerd. Simple, with no unnecessary frills, but just one look was enough to glean his interests. A bookshelf occupied almost an entire wall, packed with manga. Titles like Dragon BallOne Piece, and Naruto stood out—pillars of shonen culture.

But he wasn't limited to the usual teenage interests. Apparently, he'd grown up with good books, movies, and music. Not everyone at 13 appreciates Shakespeare or watches films like Scarface and Heat starring Al Pacino.

A small collection of games caught my eye nearby: StreetFighter and Tekken prominently displayed—a clear sign of his love for fighting games. Not surprising, considering the kind of person he was.

A standout kid, a bit of a delinquent but brimming with talent, hardworking, and respected by his classmates. The kind of person whose magnetic personality naturally drew others to him without even trying.

I get dressed quickly, not paying much attention to the mess I'm leaving behind. A T-shirt ends up on the bed, jeans on the chair, but then I stop in front of the mirror.

Orange hair, a toned physique, a serious and determined expression... Everything about this body screams strength.

"Not bad at all," I say with a touch of irony, admiring the results that are largely thanks to the [Athletic advantage] With a body like this, dealing with low-level Hollows shouldn't be much of an issue.

As I open the door and head towards the kitchen, a familiar aroma envelops me. The scent of freshly prepared food immediately grounds me, dissolving my wandering thoughts.

Entering the room, I find Karin and Yuzu already at work. Yuzu, as always, is immersed in her cooking, her energy contagious. Karin, on the other hand, assists with a bored expression, the kind you'd expect from someone wishing they were anywhere else.

"Good morning, Ichigo!" Yuzu greets with her usual enthusiasm as soon as she sees me step in.

"Finally awake," Karin adds, throwing a glance my way. "I thought I'd have to drag you out of bed."

I pause for a moment, taking in the scene, trying to adjust to this life. It's not easy, but I know I must embrace it. This is the world I've chosen for myself, and part of me can't help but feel a spark of excitement.

"Calm down, I'm here, aren't I?" I reply with a half-smile, stepping closer to the table and watching Yuzu continue her cooking with infectious energy.

Still, I have to admit that having two cute sisters is a bit strange. Not that I had weird ideas or anything... at least, not for now.

As Yuzu sets the breakfast table, I hear familiar footsteps approaching—my father's. And I already know what to expect. Isshin Kurosaki, my father, never misses the chance to overdo his welcome.

"ICHIGOOO!" he yells, launching himself at me in a wrestling move that would probably break the spine of any normal person.

With instinctive reflexes, I block his attack and counter with a kick to the stomach, sending him crashing into the wall with surprising ease. "What the hell, old man?!" I snap, more out of habit than actual anger.

"Well done, my son!" Isshin exclaims, bouncing back up with an exaggerated grin. "Your reflexes have improved—you're ready to face any enemy!"

"You're an idiot," I mutter, rubbing my temples as Karin sighs and Yuzu laughs, observing our chaotic family dynamic. Despite the confusion, there's a certain familiarity in all this. It's strange to think this is my family now, but there's an undeniable warmth I can't ignore.

Part of me feels at home, even though I know the real work begins once I step outside. From now on, I'll likely attract Hollows much more easily.

After breakfast, I waved goodbye to my sisters with a smile. Before heading to school, I wanted to test out this new body of mine. "See you later, Yuzu, Karin!" I called out, leaving the house.

I couldn't deny it—having sisters was a pleasant novelty. In my previous life, I was an only child, and this family dynamic was a fresh experience that I didn't mind.

Stepping into the crisp morning air, I stretched my muscles. My body responded with an incredible fluidity, as if it had been sculpted for combat, for speed, for movement.

"Alright," I murmured to myself, a grin forming on my face. "Let's put it to the test."

With a decisive leap, I began sprinting towards the nearby park. The wind whipped against my face as I picked up speed, my steps so light and powerful it almost felt like I was flying. "Oh. This is speed!" I exclaimed to myself, exhilarated.

And to think, I wasn't even using spiritual energy to boost my body. It was like living in an anime—or rather, being an anime character. I immediately thought of the absurdities of One Piece characters, with their physics-defying abilities.

Now, here, I felt like my body was no less extraordinary.

I crossed streets effortlessly, my movements fluid and precise. I vaulted over a fence, landing on the jogging path bordering the Karakura Community Park. A few passersby shot me surprised looks, but I ignored them, focusing on my goal—the forest just beyond the park.

The forest was the perfect place to test the limits of this body. Away from prying eyes, I could push myself to the max, try out my techniques, and maybe experiment with my Templates.

Reaching the edge of the woods, I paused to catch my breath—not because I was tired, but to savor the power coursing through my veins.

"This is just the beginning," I thought, clenching my fists as the grin on my face widened. A world full of possibilities lay ahead, and I wouldn't leave anything to chance.

After running and leaping agilely through the forest, utilizing every ounce of my natural physique and agility, I arrived at a small clearing by a stream. Sunlight filtered through the trees, and the sound of running water was calming—perfect for a brief respite.

"This spot will do," I muttered, sitting by the edge of a small pond. The still water reflected my image, distorted only by gentle ripples. I found myself staring at my reflection. "Time to sort through my memories and thoughts…"

My life so far has been, more or less, what I expected. I have a family, but the relationships are... complicated. With my sisters, Karin and Yuzu, things are definitely good. There's genuine affection between us—perhaps even something more.

I can't ignore the fact that both seem to have a rather evident fondness for me. I knew well enough that they were, at heart, a bit of brocons—not that I particularly minded.

Then there's my father, Isshin... well, our relationship is, let's say, dynamic. And while we constantly bicker, I know he cares about me. As for the secrets he's keeping, I'll deal with them once I've gained my Soul Reaper/Hollow powers.

Ichigo/I, for now, don't have many friends. And that's fine by me. I have some meaningful acquaintances, like Tatsuki. I've yet to meet Chad, but unlike canon, I'm not someone who easily forms bonds. On the other hand, I don't mind—fewer people to care about means fewer people to protect.

As I sift through my memories, aided by the meta-knowledge I possess, I notice some interesting details. My personality seems slightly different from that of canonical Ichigo.

There was one very important thing I couldn't ignore: I had unlocked my Quincy side, most likely thanks to the [Soul Talent] I had chosen. It was now evident that Ichigo's body was benefiting from the advantages I had carefully selected for myself.

It was a true boost to my soul, allowing one of my bloodlines to manifest much earlier than expected. Not that I had any reason to complain—in fact, this ability would prove incredibly useful in the near future.

"Interesting," I reflected, watching the water flow before me. "If that's the case, then I have even greater potential to tap into. This body can go much further than I initially imagined."

I get up, stretching my arms as I observe my body in its entirety. "Alright, it's time to put all this to the test. If I want to be ready for what's coming, I need to start working seriously."

I raise my hand, focusing on it. I concentrate, letting my spiritual energy flow freely. A series of blue lines begin to glow on my skin, starting from my arm and slithering toward my face, like roots of light intertwining and pulsing.

I can feel every fragment of energy flowing, alive and vibrant, responding perfectly to my will. "Ichigo could never have done something like this so easily, even by the end of the series," I think, letting the energy slowly dissipate.

"So, the Talents fully awakened today, along with me." It makes sense. Before now, Ichigo had never used any of the power from the Template. He hadn't mastered any aspect of his Quincy abilities yet.

Yet, now I feel like I'm already ahead of where the Canon Ichigo was at that starting point. A thirteen-year-old with the Talents I brought with me is definitely stronger than Ichigo was at the start of the original story.

"It's a good cover," I murmur to myself, gazing at the peaceful landscape of the clearing. "And I believe the Talents were already present, even if suppressed, long before today."

The fluidity with which I can use this energy, the strength of my body, everything seems to indicate that I'm already at a higher level than that insecure boy who was just stepping into this world.

I smile, clenching my fist. "Not bad. If it's like this, then I have a huge advantage." I rise from the rock, letting the spiritual energy dissipate as my thoughts fall into place.

The sound of the river continues flowing in the background, a steady and reassuring rhythm that helps me focus. "Alright," I say to myself. "If I'm already this far ahead, it's time to see how far I can push myself."

The idea of testing the limits of these new abilities excites me. It's not just about strength or power; it's about preparing for everything that's to come. Ichigo might have been hesitant at the start, but I am not.
