Wands

(Lily POV)

Right now I am in my full lioness form moving through the black forest. I have been coming here now and then collecting some of the magical ingredients.

This forest is one of the more interesting ones, in the future non-mages can only see a third of it, rest is hidden under wards of the magical world.

There are many magical creatures and plants around here, and a lot of magical plants have a specific requirement to grow, so they can't be cultivated on Avalon.

As I was using my sense of smell to find a mushroom I needed, I smelled blood in the air as well as what I know is a wolf.

Turning around I see three wolves all double the size of a normal wolf. Those are werewolves and I don't think they are friendly.

(Third POV)

Three werewolves growled at the lioness that was standing in front of them.

Staredown lasted for few seconds, until one of the wolves reacted, jumping at the lioness with a growl.

Lioness reacted instantaneously, she jumped underneath the wolf and used her body to throw him on the side. Before the wolf could recover she jumped on him and used her fangs to rip its neck open.

Seeing their packmate being killed other two wolves started running towards the lioness. From somewhere a axe fly and decapitated one of the wolves, while other one crashed with the lioness and they started clawing each other.

After a while of fighting the lioness managed to kill the wolf by ripping its neck open. After killing it she started moving towards the one with the axe impeded in the trunk next to it.

While moving she started transforming, after getting to the axe hybrid lioness picked it up with a smile on her face.

(Lily POV)

Well that was fun, although I will have to do a purification ritual to get rid of this scars. Cursed creatures like this werewolves or even curse spells hold negative emotions, this makes it harder to heal those scares left by them become of the uncontrollable nature of those emotions.

Only way to get rid of them is either to first purify them using a purification ritual, or to have a mage with light element affinity heal it.

Light element affinity is an opposite of dark element affinity that I have, while dark element makes spells and elements it mixed with more destructive, light one makes healing stronger and is more about creation and defense.

Anyway after collecting the mushroom I needed I point my axe towards the wolf bodies, a black sphere starts showing up in front of the tip of the axe, and after I make a cutting motion it splits in three balls that hit wolves one each.

After being hit their bodies start to burn in black flames, and in few seconds all three bodies are gone.

Being done with that I activate my portkey back to Avalon.

After being done with the ritual and letting my skin heal it self, I think back on the bite that the wolf gave me.

It is an interesting thing, while bite of the werewolves spreads the curse, well on the night of full moon, it doesn't work on hybrids, shapeshifters, or mages that have an animagus form.

This is because this group of people have their animal self, or spiritual animal, or whatever you want to call it already chosen, and werewolf curse works by making werewolf peoples spiritual animal instead whatever else it would be, it is similar for hybrids to, so nether can become animagie.

When I found out that James and his friends become animagi I did some resource in it. It is an interesting discipline, it takes a lot of work to accomplish, but most of the work is getting the spiritual animal.

Mage has to find an animal he is most similar in personality with and then he has to basically act as that animal until hi is in sink with it enough to lock it as his spiritual animal.

Of course there are some limitations, for example animagi can't become any magical creatures, mostly because that would require them to change the nature of their magic and that would kill them.

As I was thinking about this Klaus came running towards me. " Lily, it finally happened. They did it."

"Slow down love. What happened?"

"Romans created wands, I just got a message that they are trening their soldiers in using them. Well they created only two spells for now but it is starting. They are searching for those able to use magic by having people test wands. It seams they are creating an army of mages." he says.

"Witch means they will start their conquest soon." I add to that.

"Yes, but it is also progress, until now there wasn't that many who were able to learn magic, but with the creation of then wand magic is going so spread much more."

"Yes, but is it really a good thing? We know that there will be a lot of wars, conquest and destruction. There will be a lot more work for us." I say.

"Whatever I was getting bored anyway, so this is a breath of fresh air. Let's go check those wands out." he says happily.

Well he is right at that, we really were starting to get bored with the lack of progress. We were even thinking we might have to push things a little bit. So this is a good thing, magical knowledge will start to spread and grow.

As it turns out wands created are just ok. Klaus says that they have some issues with energy control, apparently quite a bit of mana gets wasted because of flawed design.

But we were right, soon Romans started their conquests. With wand and spells created with them, their mages were much more effective then mages of other countries that mostly used rituals and made potions.
