Focuses

(Klaus POV)

I telekineticly slow molecules around me creating ice needles, and launch them at Lily who shields herself with wall of fire. As steam rises from our attacks clashing she sends stone spears at me. I block them with telekinetic shield, and yell "Let's take a break for a while love!".

"OK! I am going to check on my potions." is her answer.

It has been around ten years since my fight with Apocalypse. Now that I look back at it, I went into that fight without any thought. Only thing I used was easiest telekinetic attacks.

Well it can be explained that I actually never was in a real fight before that. I didn't have much time to think and any previous time I fought my illusions and telepathy were enough.

I was lucky that Apocalypse wasn't used to his powers, and only thing he did was actually change sand into metal and strengthen it with mana. I think he did most of it by instinct alone, if he actually knew how to use power he got form the ritual and energy lay line was giving him I wouldn't stand a chance with amount of experience I had in fighting at that point.

That is why Lily and I started training for real. This was a kick we needed to understand that we aren't most powerful thing in this universe, and if we don't take it seriously we would be in trouble. It was hard at the beginning actually trying to hurt each other, but we regenerate.

I have been working on focuses for a while. Year after we fought Apocalypse I managed to create wands for both Lily and me.

We found out that while wands are excellent for delicate work like enchanting and warding they aren't that good for magics outside of arithmetic spells.

After a while I decided that I will try to make a different focuses that should help Lily with elemental magic and me with illusions, while still being able to do charms and transfiguration like Wands can.

I was successful, while this focuses can't do arithmetic spells they still can do charms and transfiguration. It is done similarly to how we do it with out a focuse, only we imagine the spell in our minds and create it in the focuse that is capable of shooting it.

Of course arithmetic spells are much faster, but if we practice a spell enough it becomes second nature to create it. Similarly to wordless and point casting with a wand.

Creation of the focuses was an interesting process. First we used divination to find out what kind of focuse would be best for either of us.

Divination is an interesting subject, while in Lillys time it is turned into a joke in reality it is one of the most useful branches of magic.

Let get something out of the way seeing future is a small and almost useless part of divination. Only useful part of trying to see future is that you can use divination to predict how for exemple dice is going to fall.

As for prophecies they are more of a natural phenomenon than a magical art.

Now actually useful part of divination are ways to find location of a person if you just have something belonging to them. It can also be used to spy on people. Their is this spell Lily created recently that allows you to see through a wall, also there is a spell that is used in fanfictio a lot: point-me.

Lily and I learned about uses of divination in our travels through Africa, magic users that we have seen in tribes use it to find water, good food, even good locations to set up villages.

We used divination ritual that showed us what kind of focuse would fit us best. For me it seams to be a sword cane, and for Lily funnily enough it was an axe.

After finding out what we need I started working on them. Process was similar to what I did for Diana's lasso, I even had two small pieces of uru to add into the mixture.

Both focuses have enchantment that tie them to us. We can channel through the focuse even if we don't hold it directly as long as it is close enough to us. Both of them have similar function like Thor's hammer, it will return to its wilder and no one but its owner can use it.

Lily's axe is made out of yew with a nundu whiskar as the core. All thought the wood there are veins of vibranium mixed with uru, and the blade of the axe is made of same material. Axe is in viking style and has a chain attached at the bottom, it can be used as a bracelet when shrunken.

As for my cane it is made in similar way as Lily's axe, only instead of yew I used black thorn, core is same as Lily's. Wood of the cane has veins of the metal flowing through it, and top of it is shaped as a lions head. A blade can be pulled out of the cane, and it can hold a spell and directly discharge it in a target it stabbed.

Now that I am done with creation of our focuses and Lily is done with the ward stone we will be using for the project safe house we will be moving away form Egypt. There isn't anything for us to do here anymore, magical research is dwindling as Egypt is been plunged into another war.

AN: I hope you like what I am doing with divination. In most of fanfics I read divination is ether completely dismissed or it is all about prophecies. I got this idea form vampire diaries where they used some spell and map to find Elena when she gets kidnapped.
