Chapter 12: Code Breaker (Edited)

Lydia lay unconscious and bleeding on the lacrosse pitch, her pale face a stark contrast against the green grass. Peter, his voice commanding, orders Stiles to join him.

"Just kill me, I can't take it anymore," Stiles pleads, refusing to leave Lydia's side. However, Peter holds him up firmly.

"Call your friend, tell Jackson where she is so he can come to get her," Peter instructs, and Stiles reluctantly gives in, contacting Jackson before leaving with Peter. Jackson arrives after they have departed and rushes to Lydia's side, bringing her back to the gym as he urgently calls for assistance.

Stiles and Peter are on the road, driving through the dark, winding forest roads, the only sound being the hum of the car's engine. Peter glances at Stiles and notices the tense set of his jaw and the furrowed brow that speaks of lingering worry.

"Don't feel bad. If she lives, she'll become a werewolf. She'll be incredibly powerful," Peter tells him, his voice low and steady.

"Yeah. And once a month she'll go out of her mind and try to tear me apart," Stiles says, his voice tinged with a mix of resignation and anxiety.

"Well, actually, considering she's a woman... twice a month," Peter says nonchalantly, a small smirk playing at the corner of his lips. Stiles gives him a disbelieving look, his eyebrows shooting up in incredulity, but Peter ignores it, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, the faint hint of a plan forming in his mind.

Back at the Argent house, Chris throws a vase at a wall in frustration as things were getting out of hand. First, he had to deal with the stress of finding the alpha, and then Derek Hale gets back to town. Then he starts looking for a second Beta that the alpha turned, which turned out to be Scott McCall, a high school student. His sister, Kate, comes to town and starts leaving Allison, Chris's daughter, clues about their family's secretive werewolf hunting legacy, which he was angry about, but not anymore since apparently, she knew all along. But the biggest shock was discovering that Allison was the mate of a very powerful Alpha, Astrid Mikealson, putting her in a dangerous and complicated position in the supernatural world.

"Feeling better?" Kate asks, trying to lighten the mood.

"Don't push me, Kate," Chris snaps at her.

"I thought it was a pretty healthy display of aggression, actually," Kate says nonchalantly, aware of the tension in the room.

"Kate, why are you back here? You've always hated this town," Chris questioned him with a furrowed brow. "I have a network of contacts much closer than you, but you were the first person I called."

"So now you don't want my help," Kate retorted.

"I'm not sure I know who you're helping."

"Oh, come on. I'm here to track down the alpha, you know, the one responsible for these random killings," she explained.

"Not random," Chris interjected.

"What do you mean?" Kate inquired.

"Tyler mentioned that Sheriff Stilinski can link every murder back to the Hale fire," Chris informed her, causing a moment of silence to fall between them.

"Well, then that's all the more reason for me to help. They've always pinned blame on us for that fire," she stated, her tone almost implying that she wasn't the one behind it. "It had to have been Derek or some other relative, but I'm certain they are targeting us as their final victims."

"I know, which is why you're taking Allison out of here tonight. You'll drive her to the house in Washington until this blows over," he instructed her. He knew Astrid would never let anything happen to Allison, but as a concerned father, he couldn't help but worry. He would never separate them since their souls were bound together.

"Are you kidding me? You're going to bench your star player in the last quarter?" she asks, making Chris very angry as he throws the pieces back to the ground, shattering them even more. The tension in the room was palpable as their disagreement escalated.

"Get your things. I want the two of you on the road within the hour," he tells her seriously before Kate walks to her room to pack up. Chris's voice was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.

After half an hour, Kate and Allison are in the car, ready to go. The atmosphere inside the car was heavy with unspoken words and unresolved issues.

"You know you can't do this without me. You're not going to find him on your own," Kate says, but Chris ignores her. His silence spoke volumes about his determination.

"Call me when you get there," Chris tells Allison, who nods. He was glad that she was cooperative. He thought she'd be resistant in leaving Astrid. It just showed she trusted him not to separate them, a trust he will not break. In reality, the only reason Allison was cooperative was she had a feeling Kate was not going to leave that easily.

"Is she right? Can you find the Alpha?" Victoria asked Chris when they drove away. The concern in her voice mirrored the uncertainty that hung in the air.

"No, but Scott and Astrid can. And I don't know where Astrid is, but I know how to find Scott," He says. Chris's confidence was unwavering, a testament to his determination to solve the looming crisis.

Kate carefully drove Allison to the hospital, her eyes fixed on the road as she spoke. "You go see your friend. I'll wait here in the car," she said with a reassuring smile. Allison felt a sense of unease as she stepped out of the car, realizing that Kate was trying to manipulate her into thinking that all werewolves behaved like the alpha did to Lydia. As Allison entered the hospital, her mind raced with conflicting thoughts. She couldn't shake the feeling that Kate was trying to control her perception of werewolves.

After checking up on Lydia's condition, Allison returned to the car. Kate turned to her with a knowing look and said, "Are you starting to understand? This is what they do, and they can't help it." Allison felt a mix of emotions - anger, disgust, and a growing sense of hate. She couldn't help but wonder how Kate became the person that she is today.

Stiles and Peter arrive in a dimly lit parking lot, the only sound the distant hum of traffic. Peter pops the trunk of a sleek black car, revealing a nondescript bag and the lifeless body of his former nurse. With practiced ease, he retrieves the bag, seemingly unfazed by the gruesome cargo.

"Good luck getting a signal down here," Stiles remarks dryly as he watches Peter. His eyes narrow as Peter produces a sleek, portable WiFi device from the bag. "Oh, WiFi, and you're a Mac guy. Does that go for all werewolves or just a personal preference?"

"Turn it on and get connected," Peter instructs, disregarding Stiles' attempt at banter. Stiles hesitates, feigning ignorance of Scott's username and password, but Peter is not one to be fooled. In one swift motion, he forcefully slams Stiles's head against the car, the metallic thud echoing in the silence.

"I can be very persuasive, Stiles. Don't make me persuade you," Peter says.

Jackson enters the hospital, his hands trembling as he searches for Lydia. His neck wounds throb with pain, a constant reminder of the terrifying events of the night. Finally, he spots her, lying in a hospital bed. She looks less bloody now, draped in a hospital gown and with an oxygen mask covering her face.

As he approaches, Sheriff Stilinski intercepts him, his eyes filled with concern and suspicion. "Hey, what happened to that girl?" he asks, his voice gruff with authority.

"I - I don't know. I went out looking for..." Jackson begins to explain, but the sheriff cuts him off.

"She just happened to wander into that field and you found her like that. Don't lie to me, son," the sheriff insists, his tone demanding the truth.

"I..." Jackson tries to speak, but the sheriff's grip on his collar tightens, the frustration evident in his eyes.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO HER?" Sheriff Stilinski demands, his voice rising with urgency.

"This isn't my fault," Jackson manages to say, his voice wavering with a mix of fear and defiance.

"She's your girlfriend, that's your responsibility," Stilinski tells him angrily, his words heavy with accusation.

"No, she's not. Okay, she didn't go to the formal with me," Jackson explains, trying to defend himself.

"Then who did she go with?" Stilinski asks, his tone softening slightly as he seeks answers.

"Do you really want to know? She went with Stiles," Jackson reveals, the words bitter on his tongue.

"What?" Stilinski's surprise is palpable, his brows furrowing in confusion.

"Stiles took her," Jackson repeats, his voice tinged with bitterness and resentment.

"Someone better find my son," Stilinski says after letting go of Jackson, his concern for his own child overshadowing the current predicament. his tone softening slightly as he seeks answers. ___________________________________________________

Scott, feeling crushed and hopeless after Maya turned down his plea for another chance, sought refuge in the tranquil surroundings of the animal clinic. As he sat there, the clamor of the dogs in the clinic gave rise to an unexpected idea. Changing into more comfortable clothes, he made his way to a vantage point reminiscent of Pride Rock. With a deep breath, he unleashed a powerful howl that reverberated into the night, hoping to capture Derek's attention.

On the other side, Derek, newly freed after overpowering a hunter, was on high alert after Astrid informed him that Kate was heading to the Hale house with Allison. The sound of Scott's howl reached his ears, prompting him to respond.

Astrid, perched high in a tree, observed the exchange of howls with a sly smile, already plotting to create an eerie atmosphere for the impending confrontation. With a subtle gesture, she conjured a creeping fog that began to engulf the surroundings, casting a foreboding aura over the Hale house.

Shortly after, Derek's echoing howl cut through the woods, seizing Scott's attention just as he was about to depart. Without a moment's hesitation, Scott raced through the dense foliage.

Stiles couldn't believe what he had just found. "Wait, they're keeping him there? In his own house?" Stiles asked incredulously, his eyes wide with surprise.

Peter looked at the location, and realization dawned on him. "Not in it. Under it. I know exactly where that is," he said with a sense of urgency.

As a wolf's howl echoed in the background, Peter swiftly stowed everything back into the car's trunk, his senses on high alert. He then heard Derek responding to Scott's howl. With a decisive move, Peter crushed the keys to Stiles's Jeep, ensuring that no escape was possible.

"So, you're not going to kill me?" Stiles asked, a mixture of fear and confusion in his voice as he turned to Peter. "Oh, god."

"Don't you understand yet? I'm not the antagonist here," Peter said, trying to make Stiles see his perspective.

"You turn into a monstrous creature with red eyes and fangs, and you're not the antagonist here?" Stiles questioned, still trying to process everything.

"I like you, Stiles. Since you've assisted me, I'm willing to offer you something in return. Would you like the bite?" Peter asked, his tone serious.

"What?" Stiles was taken aback by the unexpected offer.

"The bite. Would you like it?" Peter repeated. "If it doesn't end your life—and there's a chance it might—you'll become one of us."

"Like you?" Stiles asked, his surprise evident in his voice.

"Yes, a werewolf. Need me to draw you a picture?" Peter said sarcastically, attempting to appeal to Stiles's loyalty and make a persuasive argument.

"I don't want to be like you," Stiles said, retreating his hand and shaking his head.

"You know what? I just sensed your heartbeat quicken slightly at the words 'I don't want,'" Peter remarked before departing.

As Scott arrived at Derek's house, he noticed Derek standing in front of the entrance to the underground basement. Scott's confusion was evident as he questioned Derek, "I thought you were being held hostage?"

"I was, but I freed myself," Derek said with a determined look on his face as he walked towards the old Hale house. Scott followed closely, his expression a mix of concern and curiosity.

"Wait, Derek, I have to tell you something about Peter," Scott said, trying to catch up to Derek's brisk pace, but Derek continued ahead, his steps purposeful and unwavering.

"That he and his nurse lured my sister here so he could become the alpha. I know, and trust me, he's gonna get what's coming to him," Derek said, his voice tinged with anger and resolve as his eyes glowed an intense shade of blue, reflecting his inner turmoil and determination.

"Then why did you wait until now?" Scott asked, his voice filled with a mix of confusion and frustration, struggling to understand Derek's delayed actions against Peter.

Derek glanced at his friend, a serious expression on his face. "I'm just waiting for one last name to be crossed off the list," he tells Scott, leaving him confused. They both stopped when they reached the open area in front of the house. The sound of a twig snapping made them turn around, only to see Allison and Kate standing a few feet away from them, with Allison pointing an arrow at them.

"Shoot him in the shoulder," Kate says to Allison, but nothing happens. She turns around and sees Allison pointing the bow and arrow at her. "Allison, you're pointing in the wrong direction."

"No, I'm aiming in the right direction," Allison says as she moves away from Kate and next to Derek and Scott. "I won't let you hurt my friends."

"Friends, Allison, wake up. Are you forgetting what they did to Lydia," Kate tells her.

"The alpha did that to her, and he'll get what's coming to him," Allison says with a severe voice, "none of this would have happened if you stuck to the code. All of this is your fault, and yes, I've been up to date on the supernatural since the first day of school."

"I just did what I was told to," Kate says

"No one asked you to murder innocent people. There were children in that house, ones who were human," Chris says as he walks up to them alongside a massive wolf with red eyes that shifted into Astrid.

"you," Kate said surprised.

"Me," Astrid said before smiling as Allison kissed her, "You did great keeping an eye on her"

"You're the alpha" kate asks.

"Oh, I'm not the one you should be worried about Kate he is," Astrid said as the door of the hale house opened and Peter ran out of it moving faster than their eyes can follow but to astrid, he was moving in slow-mo. He started tripping people beginning with Scott then Derek and finally Chris.

He grabbed kate's right hand that held a gun and twisted until it broke before throwing her in the house. Allison and Astrid followed calmly to find Peter seizing kate's throat with his clawed right hand.

"She is beautiful Kate " talking about Allison, "She looks just like you probably not as damaged so I'm gonna give you a chance to apologise, say that you're sorry for decimating my family, for leaving burned and broken for 6 years, say it," Peter tells her

"I'm sorry," Kate said but her heartbeat rose meaning that she was lying.

"Wow, I got to say I'm impressed Kate because even in the claws of death literally, you chose to lie," Astrid said before Peter slashed her throat and let her fall to the ground. After that Derek entered followed Scott but Astrid grabbed Scott's shoulder and dragged him out. "This is a fight between family members so don't interfere"

Astris and Allison checked on Chris who was unconscious. A few minutes growls and roars later the alpha was thrown out of the window covered in deep claw marks all over his body he could barely stand up. Just then Stiles and Jackson rolled up in the Porsche, they get out and threw a self-igniting Molotov cocktail hitting him and setting him on fire.

Derek got out of the house and walked to the downed Peter before he slashed his throat taking back what was stolen from his sister.

"I'm the Alpha now," he says with a deep voice.

"Yeah, but don't let it get to your head Alpha or not you're still in my pack brother" Astrid say getting a smile from Derek.

"Same to you sister" Derek replies before Astrid, Allison, Chris, Scott, Stiles and Jackson left.

Later on in the Hale house, the Sheriff finds Kate's body. She's wearing the pendant he's been looking for.

Scott and Stiles sneak into Lydia's hospital room. The sneaking seems pointless since there's still a window to the hallway that they haven't done anything about to check Lydia's wound that hasn't healed.

STILES: I don't get it. The doctors said she'd be completely fine.

SCOTT: But it's not healing like it did with me, which means she's not a werewolf.

STILES: Then what the hell is she.

There's a headline in the papers about Kate possibly being the murderer since she's already tied to the Hale fire.

"We shouldn't have done it. That stupid necklace." Chris says

"The police would have put it together eventually. Don't think for one second she's taking the fall for something she didn't do." Victoria tells him

"We're going to be pariahs in this town," Chris said

"We can handle it."

"And Allison?" Chris asks

"She'll learn. What about Astrid?" Victoria asks

"I'm not the only one she has to worry about now but she can take care of herself," Chris says

Allison and Astrid sit on the roof together, cuddling as they look at the nearly-full moon.
