Two Weeks

2 weeks have passed since the assassins attempted to, well, assassinate people.

I've been mainly spending my time speaking to Momoze and Pitou, I can't really forget about her training so quickly.

Kurapika hasn't gotten back to me yet about accepting my explanation, but I can assume that he will be able to forgive me at some point. At least now he has some perspective from my side.

Well, I doubt he will ever be able to forget about my ties to his clan's murder. Well, I guess it's our clan's murder now.

Calling myself a member of the Kurta Clan isn't wrong after all. I am one, biologically at the very least.

I've already contacted Cheadle and told her about the prince's situation. She seemed to be aware of some things due to Kurapika being present, but she didn't know of the latest developments.

I informed her of Zhang Lei's actions and the danger he posed to this entire expedition and the rest of the Kakin Empire. She agreed to look for him before I even asked her to.

So I don't even know if that counts as using up a favour. But I guess that doesn't matter at this point.

She was happy to hear about me helping the Kakin Empire, I think she didn't quite like my outburst against the V5 representative that happened during that meeting though.

I think it has somewhat strained the relationship that they had with the association. But it seems she doesn't really hold it against me. I guess I wasn't the only one that found their terms to be 'unfair'.

Well, calling them unfair is a bit of an understatement. They were downright offensive.

I kinda understand why they decided to do that through a monitor, I would've killed someone that brought me a proposition like that if they were in front of me.

Still, Cheadle at least understood that the matter wasn't only my fault. Although I could've chosen more 'cordial' ways of refusing that proposal.

Currently, they haven't really found anything about Zhang Lei. But, from my understanding, one of the Zodiac members has the ability to communicate with birds.

So it's only a matter of time before she finds them. But it's at least confirmed that they aren't anywhere in the three cities that were built by the expedition.

Halkenburg has also been trying his best to manage the ship, I think he is actually the best fit to become a king out of all of his siblings.

Momoze also seems to think the same, but it won't be easy to sway everyone into believing so.

Now, a few problems that the Kakin empire is facing became apparent after a few talks with Halkenburg.

Having contrarians to a new law isn't something unexpected. Especially when the older law is more of an inherent tradition.

But when the tradition involves the royal family cannibalizing itself, a change is to be appreciated. Many regular citizens actually love this new law. As it gives some power to them.

Having the citizens have more strength has somewhat decentralized the power dynamic in the country. With the vast majority of nobles taking a negative standpoint towards the new law.

They formed what can essentially be called political parties to rally against the royal family.

They clearly didn't appreciate the sudden change in the inheritance law, they call it 'a gross disrespect to our ancestry'. But I find their way of clinging to flawed old traditions to be quite pathetic.

The parties that oppose the new inheritance law are quite looking for a way to undermine it. Apparently, they are trying to look for any illegitimate children that the old king might've had.

And, honestly, I highly doubt there are any. The old king(pig) didn't seem to have any qualms marrying anything that caught his fancy seeing as he's got over a dozen legitimate children.

So that's a waste of time on their part. The king wouldn't have had any qualms involving illegitimate children in the succession war.

Still, Halkenburg is the only person among the still living brothers that kept in touch with the kingdom's issues and affairs. He's been looking for ways to pacify these nobles, as to avoid an armed uprising.

Many loyalist soldiers would also be in favour of the old ways too since many of them were indoctrinated into believing that the succession war is a tradition and duty of the royal family.

Basically, the ending of the Succession War and the undoing of that law and tradition has inadvertently lead to a possible civil war or military coup to occur in the Kakin Empire.

The V5 are obviously not going to stay silent. They will 100% take advantage of the weakened Kakin Empire to avoid them ever joining the group and renaming it to the V6(again).

But, I don't really plan on getting further involved in the Kakin Empire's matters. I will only step in if I need to protect Momoze(like, from an assassin or something), but I won't act towards the whole war.

Well, I might not even need to protect Momoze myself, that Nen Beast has been doing a damn fine job of that.

The Nen users among the servants can all see it too. They did have questions about it at first. But Kurapika theorised that it was likely sent by me(and he was right).

It was fun hearing about their panic over an unknown Nen Beast suddenly protecting one of the princes.

They were obviously relieved to hear my confirmation about the Nen Beast being mine. Momoze was also quite flattered.

I have yet to introduce anyone to Pitou though. And I think that I maybe should because she needs to spend more time outside my void space to train.

I also want her to hunt down that Land Lizard the next time we go to this new continent. And to achieve that, I'll have to spar with her a bit.

She needs quite a bit of experience if she wants to learn how to fight properly. Well, I still have quite a bit of time on my hands.

I've also managed to look into that strange aura from the two assassins that I tossed into my Void Space.

I have yet to find much on it. But I did realize that it seems to react to and counter Nen. But the actual users of it are still capable of using Nen.

This aura also seems to grant them different abilities. I hadn't seen any of them used while in the fight, but one of these two seems to be able to swap the location of two things he's touched.

And the other can create a certain chemical reaction when touching any body of water, It seems he can boil and evaporate it almost instantly. (didn't work when I took him for a swim in the ocean)

I think that some of the assassins did use their abilities. I just perceived them as Hatsu at the time and ignored them.

This strange Aura is kinda hard to look into, but I think Zhang Lei himself might have some information to sate my curiosity.

So I'll look for him at some point. Or maybe the Zodiacs will deliver him to me. They can't really kill a prince after all.

Well, that's about all that has been happening in the last two weeks. Currently, I plan on taking Pitou out and training her a bit.

I'm sure she'll appreciate that after her loss to the Land Lizard.

I hope she is 'eager' this training will be quite a bit more different...
