Day 2

Sarah woke up in the morning only to find Andrea having not returned. Sarah was thinking of excuses to cover for Andrea but neither Susan nor Jasmine asked about her absence. Sarah was relieved for a while.

"Hey Sarah, slept well?"

"Yeah , quite".

The girls chatted for quite a while. Sarah was still waiting for Andrea but she didn't return. Sarah was getting in increasingly worried. Finally, after an hour of breakfast when nobody noticed the absence of Andrea not even the Dean who took the attendance, Sarah enquired about her.

"Hey Suzy, where is Andrea?"

"Who is Andrea?", Suzan looked confused .

"Our other roommate", Sarah impatiently explained.

"Me , Suzy and you are the only roommates", Jasmine chipped in.

"What do you mean ?", Sarah was too confused. "We have another roommate Andrea , she is city girl like me. She and I were speaking a lot before going to bed".

"No ... you didn't speak much to us , yesterday saying, you were tired and immediately went to bed after supper ", Susan replied looking worried at Andrea.

"Yes you're tired , you must have dreamed her up", Jasmine smiled kindly at Sarah.

"No ... I am talking about Andrea . She went to the forest in the middle of the night claiming she heard music from there and I stayed in the campus grounds waiting for her. But she never returned. Yes she also send me a message. See...", Sarah fished out her phone from her pockets , determined to show Susan and Jasmine she wasn't lying but...

''Huh! The message is gone ...", Sarah even checked her recycle bin but no such message existed.

Even Andrea's phone number wasn't in her log book. Sarah mobile was finger lock so no one could be pranking her either.

Sarah was really scared now. Susan and Jasmine's concerned gazes didn't help either.

Sarah ran out of the dormitory and texted in thier group Jim.

Sarah : Hey Jim , my roomate named Andrea has gone missing in our campus and the others are not even acknowledging her existence.

Jim: Calm down! say what happened?

Sarah called Jim and shakily explained how Andrea snuck out and she refused to go and how her messages from Andrea weren't even in her phone.

"ok , ok calm down and you might even be tired . Listen you did hallucinate quite a bit at home so your parents send you to this camp to relax you mind. Chill out , you are overthinking."

"But ... but I , I didn't not this much--"

" Listen Sarah, calm down and think , if Andrea really was missing then someone would have noticed till now. And this is a very safe camp. If you still feel something is wrong talk to the Dean , she is very helpful . Your parents have already spoken to her about your condition."

"You don't believe me ", Sarah hung up. Sarah felt disheartened but she still didn't believe she dreamed about Andrea or their going out in the middle of the night. But she didn't try to convince Jim about it either.

Nobody asked about Andrea the entire day. Sarah even asked the Dean but the Dean only looked at Sarah with a concerned look so Sarah stopped talking about it.

That day passes without any further incidents. But come night Sarah could hear a strange melody, it was faint at first so Sarah could ignore it but it gradually grew louder and louder.

By the time Sarah could no longer bear it , she sat up only to find her Suzy and Jasmine were still sleeping, as if only Sarah could hear the song .

Just like only Andrea could , the previous night, Sarah realises with a shiver. Sarah burrowed herself in the bed and pressed the pillow against her ears but the song could still reach her ears.

Sarah could hear her heart beating faster and faster, to the point where she almost couldn't breathe , when suddenly the music stopped. The silence almost felt deafening. After a while her phone beeped and she saw she has gotten a text, a text from Andrea...

"sarah come on, the party is fabulous", the text read. "Join us, we are waiting for you".

Thrump! the phone fell from hands with a loud crash.

"What's wrong? ", Suzy and Jasmine were both awoken by the sound. "Sarah , you okay?"

Sarah couldn't reply and her face was ashen. Jasmine was worried enough to call the Dean.

Sarah couldn't say a word to the Dean or anyone else. She was just frantically searching her phone for the text from Andrea but ... there was no text.

"I want to go home , please call my parents", after an hour this was the only thing she could get out.

Th Dean immediately called her parents, regardless of it being the middle of the night.

"Your parents would pick you up the following, day ", the Dean informed Sarah.
