10 I WAS PREPARED FOR IT ANYWAY

~Inside the doctor's office~

"Mr. Smith, there is nothing to worry about, your wife is perfectly fine. She is just stressed out and needs rest." The doctor explained to Henry.

"But there is something I don't understand, why did she faint all of a sudden? it has never happened before." Henry asked, still affected by what happened earlier.

"Well, whatever happened before she fainted must have really hit her hard which made her emotionally stressed, thereby affecting her physically." The doctor explained further.

"You are right, Doctor. Anyway, thank you," Henry sighed shortly after speaking.

"Just make sure she does not undergo any kind of stress both emotionally and physically and I assure you this will never happen again." The doctor assured Henry.

"Sure, Doctor." Henry shook hands with the doctor and then he exited the office.

. . .

Henry came out of the doctor's office to find only Leo and Jason sited outside. He was expecting to see Olivia but he didn't and this made him wonder.

"Leo, where is Olivia?" He asked the driver as he walked towards them.

"She left for the restroom a while ago," Leo answered as he stood up immediately.

"How long ago has that been?" Henry asked again.

"About 10 minutes ago." Leo wasn't sure but he felt it was about 10 minutes ago she left.

"Go, tell her to come here. Evelyn is probably awake and I know she is waiting for us." Henry ordered, obviously still affected.

Leo was about to leave when suddenly, Henry stopped him.

"No, you go and get her." Henry said, referring to Jason.

"Sure." Jason said shortly then he left.

Jason was definitely not expecting Henry to ask him to get Olivia, especially after what just happened. He got to the restroom door, not sure what to do since he had never been put in a situation such as this before. He fell silent for a few seconds before deciding to knock.

*Knock* Knock*

Olivia wiped the tears off her face quickly, not wanting who ever was behind the door to see her like that. She was surprised to find Jason at the door, wearing the same look as always.

"How long were you planning to stay locked up in there?" Jason asked in a flat tone.

"As long as I could until you came knocking, what do you want?" Olivia answered, trying her best to act fine.

"Your father asked me to get you, he believes your mother is probably awake by now," Jason answered.

A bright smile formed on Olivia's pale face when she heard what Jason just said.

"Okay, let's go." She walked past Jason in a hurry, leaving for Evelyn's hospital room.

Jason walked behind her slowly, obviously not in a hurry to see Evelyn. Olivia paused in her steps as she suddenly remembers something important.

"Jason, I am really sorry for what happened today, I didn't expect my mom to behave that way towards you. She said a lot of mean things to you and I can't help but feel ashamed of myself because it is all my fault." Olivia felt so terrible for all the insults her mother rained upon Jason and the only thing she could do was apologize on her mom's behalf.

"I was prepared for it anyway, so don't worry about that." Jason said, walking away.

"Does this mean you are still going to stick to the plan?" She asked, hoping for a good answer.

"I am not sure of that." He answered, without looking back.

"Yeah, I understand." She said as she walked quietly beside him.

. . .

"Mom, please forgive me. I am sorry you had to go through this because of my stupid behavior." Olivia said to Evelyn, sitting on the other end of the bed.

"No, Olivia. I am sorry, I am sorry for not understanding you." Evelyn apologized sincerely.

"I have always wanted you to get married even when I knew you didn't want to, I introduced you to different suitors but you still refused and when you finally brought someone you desired, I rejected him without thinking twice." Evelyn continued, regretting her own actions.

Olivia stood up and went to give her mom a tight hug, she knew Evelyn was not at fault for acting like that. Any mother would probably act the same way if their daughter brings a total stranger to the family, claiming he is her boyfriend and to top it all up being married.

Evelyn hugged her back with the same energy and Henry could not help but join in. Evelyn pulled away from them slowly as she was about to say something.

"Olivia, tell Jason to come in. I want to speak with him." Evelyn said as she made herself comfortable on the bed.

"Evelyn, are you sure? The doctor clearly told me not to let you get stressed out." Henry said with obvious concern in his eyes.

"It's fine, I just want to have a small chat with him and also apologize for what I said to him," Evelyn explained.

"Sure, I will call him." Olivia went out of the room to deliver the message.

Unfortunately, Jason was no longer outside the room. Olivia used her eyes to search the whole place but he was nowhere to be found.

"Did he leave already?" She asked herself as she walked away from the door, moving through the hallway.

"He must have left, it's late anyway." She said, trying to find her way back to the room.

"And what makes you think I had left already?" Jason's voice echoed in her ears.

Jason was getting bored, just sitting and doing almost nothing. He decided to go and get coffee and maybe take a little walk around the hospital.

"Well, there are more than a thousand reasons for you not to be here. So, I'm not wrong for thinking that." Olivia answered.

"Why were you looking for me?" Jason asked then he took a sip of his black coffee.

"I'm not the one looking for you, my mom is. She said she wants to have a talk with you." Olivia explained.

"Have a talk?" Jason throws a questioning look at her.

"Yes, I know you probably don't what to but . . ." She couldn't finish her sentence because Jason interrupted her.

"But nothing, I don't have a problem talking with her. So, lead the way." Jason's comment surprised Olivia a little but she waved off the feeling and led the way to Evelyn's room.
