Chapter 6: The Room

"I'll tell you my secret because you trusted me."

"Your secret? What does your secret have to do with having to translate that language?"

"Well, my body is not able to make any effort.

For as long as I can remember, I have not been able to run for a minute, after a few seconds an extreme pain grips my chest, I run out of air and finally I collapse."

"I guess that's why you hate people who can train?"

"Mostly yes, I am jealous of you.

You can go wherever you want without fear of collapsing and dying if you don't receive any help.

In my kingdom, only my parents, a doctor who takes care of me and a school teacher are aware of my health.

But my poor health also gave me an advantage."

"Advantage? What advantage can poor health give you?"

"Knowledge, in the 2 years I've been in school I've been excused from training classes so I've spent most of my time in the library.

The teacher who knows my problem helped me a lot, thanks to him I learned 3 languages, created war strategies that are taught in schools in my country and much more.

How do you think I can talk to you now?"

"Don't you speak the same language in your kingdom?"

When Affra hears this she starts laughing out loud.

"No, our language is completely different from yours."

"You're incredible!!! You managed to learn 3 languages by the age of 9 years old."

"Thanks."

"Do you think you can translate the book?"

"I don't think I can, I'm sure I'll succeed."

"Well then, I'll have to take you to that room, we need to make sure we're not seen."

"What does it matter if we are seen entering your room?"

"If Illiane sees us she'll just sit next to us and there's no way we can get into the room.

That's why we have to sneak around."

Affra nods affirmatively.

"I'll explain which way we go to get to my room without running into someone.

Near this area there is an exit that leads to the back of the castle, there is a narrow road that connects to the supply room, unfortunately the door is always closed so we will enter through the window.

After entering the room we were waiting for the moment to go out, the stairs leading to the first floor are near door.

I think the only time we have a chance of being seen by someone is when we go up the stairs.

After climbing the stairs we'll hurry to enter the 3rd room on the left side."

"What if we meet someone?"

"We'll tell him I show you the castle, after we get rid of him we'll walk a little more and come back to the garden to try again."

"Okay."

"Let's hope we don't come across anyone."

-20 minutes later-

"Quick Affra, enter the room."

I closed the door after Affra entered the room, luckily we managed to get into the room without being seen.

"We made it to the room on the first try."

"Luckily."

"So, where exactly is the entrance?"

I go to the left side of the bed to get the key that I hid under the mattress, after I got the key I put it in the lock that is under the candle holder and I start to pull it.

The worst thing about the door is the weight of it and the squeak it makes when I open it.

I'm surprised the hinges still support the weight of the door which is made mostly of bricks.

It took me 30 seconds to open the door, not to mention the creaking was so loud I thought my eardrums will exploding.

Affra had her hands over her ears the whole time, after I open the door i wave my hand to her to come beside me.

"You see it's a long way down so watch your step."

"Okay."

I take the candle out of the holder and start down the stairs.

"Is it safe to go down on such an old ladder?"

"Yes, I checked it when I discovered the door.

Even if you fall, I will catch you."

Affra gathers her courage and starts to go down, I need to be careful how she steps on the stairs.

One little mistake and we're done for.

"I've come to the end Affra."

"I thought it would never end."

"Come on, it wasn't that bad."

I sit down on the couch and put the candle on the small table I brought into the room, it seems like Affra is getting a little nervous because of the stones that will glow immediately.

"Affra come on the couch, you don't have to wait standing up."

Affra sits next to me and start to examines the whole room with her eyes.

"To be honest, I was skeptical at first about what you said, and now I look forward to discovering what's is writing in the books."

"Honestly, if I was in your place, I didn't believe anything I said."

"Lucky for you that I'm a little weirder."

"You're not weird! On the contrary, you're incredible.

I'm counting on you to translate the book for me.

You'll help me a lot if you succeed."

The stones start to emit light, Affra is shaking so I grab her hand, I think it calms her a bit.

She looks into my eyes with a smile on her face, you'd think I gave her a present at how happy she is.

"It really does happen, light appears out of nowhere. It's incredible!"

When I saw her smile my heart started beating faster and faster.

The stones are fully charged so I blow out the candle.

Affra goes straight to the shelf full of books and starts looking through them.

And I stay on the couch watching at Affra how she is trying to read the books.
