Hunting Hellraisers

I'm Samuel and I'm a hunter. I don't hunt animals, I hunt demons. I've always hunted demons. It's kinda a family tradition. I do it to protect and serve. And for the money of course. I need it to support my four siblings and mother after my father's death.

Chapter 6

Samuel's Pov:

I wake up to a hand pushing my shoulder back and forth. "Sam, we should return home soon. Wake up." I sit up, "Yeah. Yeah, I hear you." I stand up and stretch. "I don't think I can walk." I laugh at Noah. "No shit. Your leg got snapped in half."

"I gotta clean up the goblins and get paid. We can leave after that." I walk out Sandra's back door and head into the garden. I look around at the mess that remains after the previous night. I drag the bodies and put them in a pile. I grab a lighter from my pocket and light them up. The smell is sickening. But I can't walk away till it is only ash and bones. I sit next to the fire. I'm glad goblins burn quickly. It only took 10 minutes till the goblins were no longer.

I walk back into the house and find Sandra giving my brother some bread. "We will be leaving soon." She looks at me and nods her head. "I will go get your payment." She stands and walks away. "How am I supposed to travel in this condition?" Noah asks looking up at me in sorrow. "I'll buy a sled with the money."

Sandra walks back into the room and hands me $80. "Thank you for helping me." She says as I carry my brother out of the home. I set my brother on the ground in front of the convince store. "I'll be back in a few," I say to him. "Ok."

I walk up to the young lady at the counter. "Good morning. Do you have a sled for sale by any chance?" She thinks for a minute then leans on the counter getting close to my face to the point where I can feel her warm breath. "We might have one in the back. But it'll cost you." She gives me a wink. I know exactly what she wants. I sigh and lock lips with this random girl. Our lips move in sync for a few seconds. I pull back and smile at her, "Was that good enough for you to go get me that sled?"

Her face is incredibly red. She shakes her head yes and steps into the back of the store. She comes back out with a sled just large enough to take my brother home. "It'll be $60, but you can get a discount at the cost of another kiss." She smiles at me. "Sounds like a deal to me." I return the smile she's shooting at me. She walks around the counter, wraps her arms around my neck, and presses her lips into mine. I put my hands on her waist. Our lips move together once more.

I walk out of the convince store with the sled I bought for $30. I don't like kissing girls. I've kissed a lot of them for stuff, but nothing felt like love. They usually want me for my looks. So I guess we both use each other in some way. Something has got to be wrong with me.

"Ok, let's go home," I say while smiling at Noah. I put him on the sled and begin to trudge through the snow back to our home.

The trip takes longer than usual. The sun is beginning to fall as we reach our home. I open the door and announce our return, "We're back!" Mother comes to greet us. "Oh! Noah! What happened dear?" She asks distressed as I carry him into the house. Alexis sees me carrying him and preps a spot for him to sit on a bed. "Some goblins ganged up on me and broke my leg," Noah says to mother. I set him on the spot Alexis prepared for him.

"Mother you should take a look at his leg. I did my best to wrap it but I believe you could do better." She gently touches his leg. "Alexis, where are the littles?" I didn't even notice they weren't around. "They are running errands for mother. They should be back in a few." "Alright. Could you help me with an injury?" She shakes her head disapprovingly but still smiles as she says, "You always end up hurt, don't you big brother?" I laugh at her.

She looks at my stitching job as I sit at the kitchen table. "You did a good job, but did you thoroughly clean it?" She asks looking up at me. "Hehe, I don't think I did." She shakes her head and goes to grab a bottle of alcohol and a towel. She pours some alcohol onto the towel and presses it to my cut. It stings, but not bad. I'm used to the sting of alcohol on my skin.

"I'm going to leave again tomorrow." I hear a gasp from Alexis. "You're going to go already? But Noah is hurt and you just got back. Are you planning to go alone?" I sigh, "I know it's risky but we need money. I have a big job that'll bring in good money. I had to spend a good chunk of money on that sled to bring Noah home. So I must go." She stands and puts the towel in a basket. "If that's what you want to do I'll support you." She looks back at me and smiles warmly.
