"Don't worry about it, Jel, we can take care of ourselves quite well," Jorod said proudly, almost looking happy that Jel is showing some kind of concern but Osbert knows, more than anyone else, that, just because Jel seems to show concern, does not mean he is really concerned.
It took me a while to register the difference between the genuine concern that Jel shows towards others and the fake concern. Unless, you observe him carefully, you will not be able to tell the difference because the intonation of his voice is pretty much the same in both situations.
When he shows that he is concerned about someone or the other, he will look them right in the eyes and talk to them as though they are the only person in the entire world.
