Family issues

Dad lost his job a year ago ever since then he's been drinking a lot and mom's been really depressed.I want to make her feel better but it would just make her angrier, so I try to stay out of the way.

right now mom's downstairs making dinner

which is weird because she usually just orders out.

right on cue she yells upstairs "CORI come downstairs NOW!"

"Yes mom, coming" what did I do now,

When I get down stairs she stairs at me, "yes mom" I said

she say "Follow me little girl" I follow her towards the bathroom, when we get inside the bathroom she stops and turns around and says "does anything look wrong to you"

I started to get flustered "i- uh, um"

"i-uhh yes or no" she says

"um....no" I say

"no? there is a spot on the sink, isn't this bathroom supposed to be spotless"

"ye-" before I could finish my answer she smacks me hard across the face and on to the floor probably leaving a bruise

"finish the bathroom and don't come out untill it's done!"

she leaves me on the floor and walks out the bathroom.

Tears start to well up, but I push them back down and start cleaning up

When I was done and came out of the bathroom dad walked in the door

"uhch what.... is that smell" he says

"i-um was making dinner for you" mom says

He looked mad "why...just why would you cook, you can't cook you always order out if you wanted a home cooked meal you should have asked Cori to do it"

Mom looks at me with pure rage shes about to say something when dad says

"it better be good because I do not have the money for you to be wasting food"

My mother turns to me and says aggressively "get the plates" I turn to get the plates I set them on the table

She prepares the food

he took a bite and we stared at him, he got up from the table and at first I thought he was going to the sink, he stoped in front of mom and smashed the plate in her face "don't ever serve that disgusting trash to me again" he said leaving out the house slamming the door.
