A Long Eventful Night Part [4]

"Of course, I want it," Nyx said. "But the problem is how do I get it?"

Having faced Ikor before, Nyx knew how powerful he was, and there was still the mystery about his ability. The moment where he'd been left vulnerable because of a single word from Ikor was still fresh in Nyx's mind. He didn't want something like that to happen again.

After carefully considering all this, Nyx decided to postpone stealing the item from Ikor until he had something that could counter the latter's ability.

"Sooner or later, I know the system would reward me with something," Nyx thought as he turned around to give Momo his reply.

However, suddenly, the door of the hall flung open and a guard rushed in.

"The audacity of this guard!" The teachers were naturally annoyed at the guard who barged in unannounced because it was the moment for Ikor to accept his gift.

The vice principal spared the guard a cold stare.

"Explain yourself for this insolent behavior," she uttered.

"Vice principal, Someone has intruded the academy. A total of six students were found dead, including a member of the Brolly clan," the guard said in a heartbeat, knowing that delaying longer could cost his life.

"Huh?" A surprised gasp echoed through the hall when the teachers heard that students of their prestigious Academy were dead. Cold sweat trickled down their spines when they heard that someone from the Brolly clan also died.

The Brolly Clan was one of the ten powerful families that were beneath the five Great Clans who were in charge of making major decisions concerning Earth. Their influence even surpassed that of presidents because of the unique, powerful abilities they wielded. It was also rumored that the Great Clans possessed a private army filled with Tier 1 superhumans.

Below them, the prestigious clans, such as the Brolly Clan, played important roles in supporting the Great Clans' endeavors, whether through alliances, specialized skills, or contributing resources. The aim of this clan was to become an elite clan like the five great clans.

Even among this clan, the Brolly clan was ranked fifth, and they boasted over 10 Tier 1 existence, 90 Tier 2 existences and hundreds of Tier 3, 4, and 5. So one could only imagine what the clan would do if they discovered that one of their heirs had been killed.

If the academy failed to even come up with a good reason, there would be an all-out war between the Elite Heroes Academy and the Brolly Clan.

And this was something Vice Principal Camila wanted to avoid at all costs.

'How did they even infiltrate the academy?' Miss Camila thought with an annoyed expression. Most importantly, what would the Principal think of me when he returns? That I'm incapable?'

Despite not having the best childhood, Camila had always viewed herself as confident, independent, and capable. These qualities were one of the reasons she'd become the vice principal of the number 1 superhuman academy in the world.

Yet, faced with a potential war between her Academy and the Brolly clan, Camila was now questioning her competence and fearing the judgment of the absent Principal.

Ever since the principal left on a subjugation mission to the lost lands, Miss Camila had been made in charge of the academy.

But with this new dilemma, the vice principal had the nagging feeling that if she didn't do anything about it, there would be dire consequences for the academy and her own standing within it.

'I was doing just fine, and in a few more months, the principal could have returned. Why now of all times?' Camila White felt frustrated.

"Miss Vice Principal, if you don't mind, can I mobilize a task force and go after the intruder?" Momo suggested, snapping the vice principal from her thoughts.

"Yes, do just that, everyone disperse and find me those bastards!" Camila ordered as she pushed the box to Ikor. "Take this and come along; your ability would be needed."

Having said those words, the blue-haired lady disappeared from her spot, leaving Ikor alone in the middle of the hall, and the place she previously stood now frozen.

"Now this is your time; I have done my part in ruffling up the crowd," Momo said to Nyx.

"Have you forgotten about Ikor's ability?" Nyx replied. "With that ability, it's practically suicide going after him."

"Don't worry, that wouldn't be a problem," Momo spoke, causing Nyx to raise an eyebrow.

'How is that not a problem?' Nyx thought, a bit confused at what this mysterious man was talking about. Ikor's ability was unlike anything he'd seen before and was the right counter for almost, if not every one in the world, so how is that not a problem?

Nyx wanted to ask this question, but just then he saw Momo pulling out something from his pocket. Curious, the red-haired boy stared at the latter's hand and saw a little white box.

"This thing cost me a billion dollars," Momo said, putting the box in Nyx's palm as he looked at the expensive wristwatch in his hands. "In 13 hours' time, I'll be taking it back, so make sure not to lose them."

'1 billion dollars?' Nyx thought, a bit surprised that something so small could cost this much. But more importantly, how rich was this Momo guy? Even back in his day, a billion dollars was no small amount.

Although he was used to this amount and above because of his past in running a shadow government, it was still shocking that someone could casually gift a no-name kid something like this.

Before he could ask any questions relating to the box, Nyx discovered that Momo was long gone.

Left alone, the red-haired boy opened the box and saw a pair of black ear pods. Carefully bringing out the earpod from the box, Nyx found out that it was actually a super item.

'This explains the cost, I should just wear it, right?' He thought as he put on the ear pod, and when he did, all the noises in the hall were concealed, and the pod was emitting a faint blue light.

Now, Nyx was ready to steal the Super Item from Ikor.

Using a black scarf to cover the lower part of his face and adjusting the face cap to cover his eyes, the red-haired boy started to approach Ikor.
