Chapter 50: Just Friends

Leon had the curtains drawn and I couldn't see what was going on in the room. I had to let the bats climb to the top edge of the window to see if there was any chance I could hear anything coming from his apartment. The light through the curtain slit told me Leon was still awake even at this late hour. Was he thinking about me? Was he scared because of what had happened the other day?

My mind was in a tizzy. Yes, vampires, the Allied Holy Order, do exist. Such things really should stay in books or on television, but we were real. I came into my life and brought that world with me and… It almost killed him.
