Deceptive Comrades

The next day, it was just like any other day. Everyone was chatting, eating, reading, making bets, flirting, and practicing shooting inside the giant robot, just like any ordinary day.

But for Ming Fa and Christine, who knew there was a mole among them, things were different. The smiles on people passing by seemed fake. It felt like everyone was acting, playing the role of harmonious comrades, like world-famous Oscar-winning actors.

The only people they could trust were each other, unless one of them suddenly turned into a Skrull, catching the other off guard.

Bang!

A gunshot echoed as a bullet pierced the forehead of a human-shaped target, knocking it to the ground.

Christine was the one who fired the shot. Ming Fa gave her a score of 9 for her shooting posture, speed, and accuracy.

"Why only 9?" Christine placed the gun back on the table, feeling dissatisfied with Ming Fa's rating.

"Just because it was you who pulled the trigger, that's why the score wasn't perfect," Ming Fa offered what sounded like a reasonable explanation.

"Damn you! You shoot then, and I'll deduct points from you instead!" Christine seemed genuinely angry, but her angry expression was somewhat amusing. Ming Fa had to stifle his laughter; otherwise, Christine would have been even angrier.

"Alright, Gwenpool." Ming Fa picked up the gun and without hesitation, fired a shot, not even needing to aim, yet managed to knock down a human-shaped target. He glanced at Christine, who looked stunned, and smirked mockingly, "Seems like you can't deduct points from me now."

"Wow, wow, wow, is our 'Sharpshooter' showing off his skills again?" a grating voice came from the doorway, causing Ming Fa to furrow his brow.

Peter leaned against the door frame, his face showing contempt for the man in front of him, but unconsciously casting a gentle glance at Christine. He left the door frame, walking towards Ming Fa, and a hint of madness seemed to flicker in the darkness around him, making him appear like a bloodthirsty monster.

"Give me the gun, I want to show off my shooting skills too." Peter leaned in close to Ming Fa, letting him hear his breath and feel his presence.

Ming Fa stepped back, handing the gun to Peter. As soon as Peter took it, he fired a shot, and Ming Fa instinctively turned his head to see another human-shaped target on the ground, with a hole in its chest.

"Twenty points," Peter awarded himself, satisfied with his own rating. He then grabbed Ming Fa's hand and placed the gun back in it. "A man's weapon for protecting a woman is his own life. And for you to protect your own life, there's nothing else but the gun, right?"

"What are you even doing here?" Ming Fa didn't want to entertain his seemingly nonsensical words.

"Sigh, you're completely ignoring my advice, aren't you?" Peter seemed like he wanted to laugh, but he restrained himself. "I'm waiting for Emperor Kai. I want to see his shooting skills. Has he been here?"

"No," Christine replied before Ming Fa could.

"Oh, what a shame," Peter said before bursting into laughter. Then, his face suddenly turned serious as he grabbed Christine's hand and pulled her to his side. Ming Fa was about to say something, but Peter's stern expression made him stay silent.

"I just went to check on the General, and he seemed to be troubled," Peter's words made Ming Fa realize that the General had begun investigating who the mole was. But Peter's next sentence raised his alertness.

"I was thinking, could it be one of us," Peter paused for a moment, a slight smirk playing on his lips, his eyes becoming sharper, "sent here as a spy by the robots?" He emphasized the word "spy" with a heavy tone.

Ming Fa and Christine frowned, wanting to step back to create some distance from the man in front of them, but Peter's grip was strong, leaving them no chance to move.

"What do you think?" Peter's eyes gleamed with anticipation, as if he wanted them to agree with him. But the look, coupled with his sneaky grin, was hardly complimentary.

"Maybe you're just overthinking it," Ming Fa straightforwardly denied. He didn't want to admit that he had also noticed the mole. It wouldn't matter much to say it, but it felt risky to agree with him without confirming the other person's safety. "But I think you can ask the General; I'm curious too."

"Me too," Christine could only echo Ming Fa. She wasn't good at complex thinking and couldn't execute such brain-teasing actions.

"Sigh, I wish you guys knew," Peter let go of their hands, putting his hands on his waist. The expectation in his eyes seemed to fall into an abyss, turning into mockery in an instant. "I know where you went last night."

Ming Fa and Christine froze on the spot upon hearing this. The man in front of them suddenly became terrifying, his smile akin to that of a grim reaper ready to kill them at any moment.

Even after Peter left, they remained motionless, not daring to move.

How did this man know so much? Did he really know about the m
