Bang, bang, bang!
In the 12th train car, Li Feng and Rong Guo firmly held the glass door leading to the next car, ignoring the cries and pleas from inside.
In order to prevent the virus from spreading, Li Feng didn't mind being seen as ruthless. Besides, he had warned them earlier, but these people had completely disregarded his advice. Some of them had even mocked him. So now, it was their problem.
After a moment, the cries from behind the car door gradually faded, replaced by terrifying beast-like growls.
One by one, hideous zombies with fierce expressions began to violently pound on the glass door, glaring at everyone inside.
"Quick, use newspapers to cover the door!" Li Feng shouted, realizing that these zombies had become aggressive after spotting them.
"Okay," the somewhat stunned Yu Dulin quickly grabbed newspapers from a rack and, trembling, wet them with mineral water before pasting them over the door.
As expected, as soon as the newspapers completely covered the door, the zombies outside calmed down, unable to see those inside.
"Phew!" This discovery relieved many of the students in the car, who had never witnessed such a horrifying scene. If Li Feng hadn't reminded them, they might have stood there like fools.
"Are you scared?" Li Feng asked as he looked at the beautiful flight attendant who had previously been comforting everyone.
She was no longer the poised and graceful woman from before, with her scarf disheveled, face pale, as if she hadn't yet fully processed the events.
"No..." she responded, her voice sounding hoarse, as if she hadn't had water for a long time.
"Feel free to cry if you need to," Li Feng reassured her. In this apocalyptic situation, even a strong and composed person would be struggling, not to mention someone like her.
To his surprise, Yu Dulin, who had earlier been panicking, regained her composure after just a short moment and asked Li Feng, "What do you have inside that bag?"
"Don't ask, it's something to save our lives!" Li Feng replied vaguely. He didn't want to reveal that he had a knife in the bag; explaining that later would be problematic.
Yu Dulin seemed to have had trouble believing her own words. She turned her attention to the contents of the bag that Li Feng had been holding.
Just then, a loudspeaker inside the train car suddenly came to life, with the voice of the train conductor heard clearly.
"Attention, passengers. Due to an emergency situation, this train will not make a stop at Tian'an Yashan Station."
"For safety reasons, please remain in your seats."
The announcement left the passengers in the car puzzled. They began to ask questions like, "What's happening? Why aren't we stopping?" and "What exactly are those creatures?"
Fear, confusion, and disbelief spread among the passengers as they tried to make sense of the situation.
As a flight attendant, Yu Dulin stood up instinctively and clenched her fists to comfort everyone, saying, "Please stay calm and remain in your seats."
"We will arrive safely; trust the conductor."
But the words she spoke didn't seem to convince her as her own voice sounded unsteady and uncertain.
"Trust me; everything will be fine," Li Feng said, patting her hand. At this point, Yu Dulin had obviously lost her confidence in the words she had spoken earlier.
The passengers in the train car relaxed, reassured by her words, or maybe they were just too exhausted and frightened to resist any form of hope.
However, right when they were calming down, the train suddenly shook violently and slowed down, as if it had collided with something.
"Ahh!"
"What the heck?"
Due to the sudden jolt, many passengers inside the car began to curse, clutching the nearby seats to prevent themselves from falling.
Yu Dulin also fell into Li Feng's arms due to the intense shaking, her face turning slightly red.
After the train steadied itself, she managed to free herself from Li Feng's embrace and offered a somewhat apologetic smile.
"Are you okay?"
Li Feng asked, feeling concerned about her trembling hands.
He comforted her in a low voice, "Don't worry; I'll protect you."
She relaxed her clenched fists and took a deep breath, thanking him for his words.
At this moment, the voice of the conductor came over the train's intercom again.
"Passengers, please be advised that due to the emergency situation, this train will not be stopping at Tian'an Yashan Station. For safety reasons, please remain in your seats."
Li Feng, Yu Dulin, and the other passengers in the car listened closely, and it seemed like they were about to get some answers.
Just then, a disheveled and panicked man in gray clothes appeared at the window, desperately banging on the glass and shouting, "Help, help!"
As he shouted, more passengers appeared behind him, running towards the front of the train. They didn't dare to look back and seemed to be fleeing from something terrifying.
The screams from inside the car filled the air as they saw the window-side passenger get bitten, and some of the passengers began to panic.
In a flash, a man dressed in rags, with gray eyes and a body covered in gruesome blisters, appeared outside the window. He lunged and sank his bloodied, sinister teeth into the gray-clothed man's neck, knocking him to the ground.
"Ahh!"
"Ah, ahhh!"
This terrifying scene triggered another round of panic and screams inside the car.
Fear swept over everyone, making the passengers feel an icy chill.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you," Li Feng said to the scared flight attendant beside him, trying to reassure her.
"System, can I bring her back to the real world?" Li Feng couldn't help but ask in his mind. He couldn't bear to see her go through this horrifying experience, and he imagined her being in the safety of his home, sharing warm moments and responsibilities.
However, his wish was quickly rejected by the system, crushing his hopes.
