Never to late.

(The coffee table at the middle of the full furnished apartments was full of whisky bottles and strands of cola, a packet of buzz sticks was on the purple disorganised rack and the air was filled with drag and sativa.)

Cassie unlocked her apartment, threw her bagpack to the floor and bounced on the medium quality innerspring mattress. She took off her brown soaked sole shoe and threw it behind the door, untied her blonde dyed hair and placed her head on a fishy tear-soaked soft ragged pillow. Cassie later peered on the hamper she should have taken to the laundry two weeks ago. She smirked to the parcel sent by her mother three days ago, "It must be the fancy authentic outfits mother sends every three months, I might as well donate the rugs and keep that five dollar."

She woke up near midnight, tied her hair, made some white coffee, black coffee made her get random headrush. She was still under recovery pills which always made her euphoric. Later on Twisted Metal was on the screen and Atomic habits was on the study table, Cassie was bright, she had a middle class degree in sales and finance, had attained a diploma in fine technology where she met her late girlfriend, Mellissa. They had spent the last three years designing and developing websites, promoting brands including Martelli and BelAir. Cassie got a flashback of the fatal day her lover left this world.

They were from Limuru, almost three hundred kilometers from Nairutia, their journey was accompanied with joy, riches and laughter from the sales they had made after promoting Hudas cosmetics. They passed through every liquor store taking all kinds of drinks, they had satchets of coke, the infotainment system was now at maximum volume and both their eyes were dilated. On the way from Limuru to Nairutia was a weigh station and drivers had to slow down.

With the high intoxication and low concentration, Cassie barely saw the weighing sign, "why are all these drivers slowing down?" She accelerated now raging at full speed swerving past every vehicle. Upon reaching the weighing point it was too late for any breaks that the Lexus car bought by Melissa's uncle for her twenty third birthday, five months ago went crushing below one of those huge trucks, Cassie escaped since she hadn't tied her seatbelt which enabled her to jump out of the flash speeding car but Melissa's side was not so pleasing, her seatbelt fastened and she went along with the vehicle, the only remains was her ring and her gold bracelet everything else was beyond recognition.

The coffee table at the middle of the table had already spilled without her recognition but she had saved some of her drafts in her email so she had a close back up. She then took the daily newspaper from her backpack and was astonished when she saw her childhood friend Marcus who was now being accused of serial killing, assault and harassment.

She remembered how they everyday played 'catch the criminal' where Marcus best character was that of a cop. Marcus hated cops from the age of eleven after one police guard pinned down his best friend Daggy when the latter was found amongst one of the most wanted gangs in the streets of Darkura, Daggy was taking food to his brother, Sam who worked as a mechanic in a nearby garage around Darkura when he decided to pass through a snipper route, his big brother always warned him of the route but being the notorious boy he always was, he decided to lay a deaf ear.

Daggy confidently passed some smoking gangs until he was called out and decided to make the run, he was near getting away from them when he got hit by a stone on his forehead which made him fall head first, all the food was now scattered all over the ground, he was lifted and dragged to a corner, he could hardly get sight of any person from the dizziness and smoke blown to his nostrils. All he recalls is the boys scavenging for the remains then later threw his mother's pot to the garbage hole.

He partially regained conscious when he heard gunshots and all the boys captivating him all flew to different corners, he tried to pick himself but was so beaten and intoxicated to even move a finger.

Minutes later he opened his eyes to a browbeat. "Young boy, point out where your colleagues are?" Daggys pants were wet from fear and confusion. Villagers had started surrounding the scene while some were shouting over that the boy was innocent and just the gangs victim but the police had already drew his gun, Daggy lay mercilessly, crying and shaking. The police ignored all the crowds cries and pulled the trigger between his skull.

Sam he just finished washing his clients car and was getting worried on why Daggy hadn't brought his food yet, he hasn't knew his cunning brother was probably playing with his friend Marcus but was perplexed when the latter came to the garage looking for Daggy. Sam's eyes widened and shoulders hunched. He stood and stormed out from his office, "Marcus, where was the last point you were with Daglas?" Marcus flinched and stammered , "Heeeee, t__o__ld me he waaaas briiinngggii__ your luuu--nnch," . Sam hurriedly removed his apron and stormed out of the reception.

Akoko, Beths daughter came shouting and crying to the garage, " Uuuuu,,, Daggy is dead, ". Sam almost slapped the little pretty girl.

Akoko rushed out of the garage when they all made it to follow her, Marcus jolted past the crowd which was now surrounded by police and medics, Daggys body still lay there lifeless, Marcus released a loud lament before falling to the ground. The victims brother could not believe his eyes and went ahead to pummel one of the cops standing adjacent to the crowd of mourning friends and neighbors. After the forensics were done with the crime scene investigation, the ambulance took the now late Daggy and headed off for the mortuary. Sam had to be put in cuff and stabilized for after the burial he became a complete different being, the latter would sleep in pubs, divorced his wife, denied acknowledgement of his three year old daughter and had to be put in a vocational facility to help him improve his abilities to resume his daily basic life.

Marcus parents noticed his relentless behavior to become dormant and unsociable, that's when they decided to take him to a prep school in Limuru far from his norms.

Cassie put her pen down and decided to go through the recent murders of youth girls being slaughtered in the called Airbnbs. "I have come across this girl in his Facebook page before as a tagged friend, could he be...?" Cassie took her phone and logged into Marcus butlers page. "All the pictures have been pulled down." She stood and quickly stormed heading for the coffee shop, she was already thirty minutes late.
