I'm just a good samaritan

The woman with gray hair then looked at what was in Locke's hand and asked him, "What are you gonna use that roll of tissue for?"

"It can't be... for 'that', right?" She added with the same monotonous yet serious expression.

'What are you even talking about...' Locke silently lampooned as he heard her make assumptions. He then held his hand up and interrupted her. "No... I needed something to patch up his wounds." He then pointed at Arlan.

"Huh? How are you gonna do that? Tissue paper isn't that sturdy you know?" This time, another person joined in. It was the girl with the light-pink hair.

"She's right," The woman with gray hair nodded as she also agreed with the other girl.

"I know," Locke slightly nodded his head with understanding. He then quickly rebutted, "I'll only use it to clean his wound."

"If I may join in..." Suddenly, another person joins their conversation. It was the person with dark hair and a collected aura around him.

"Perhaps this could be of help..." He approached them and lifted his hand to show some antiseptic sprays and a bottle of painkillers. "On our way here, we stopped by the medical cabin and our new friend here became curious and... 'borrowed' some medicine with her."

As he said this, he was looking at the gray-haired woman. However, the latter wasn't denying the accusation, rather, she looked proud of her actions. "I knew it would be useful, that's why I took it."

'A hoarder behavior...' Locke understood what he meant and silently judged the gray-haired woman. He then looked at the medicine that was in the man's hand and extended his hand. "Thank you, this would be quite helpful."

The man nodded as he gave the medicine to Locke. The latter felt like he was a genuinely good person. 'He seems like a cool guy...'

After receiving the medicine, he went to Arlan and started wiping his blood away before spraying the antiseptic spray on his wounds to prevent an infection.

"By the way..." While Locke was in the middle of spraying the antiseptic, he became curious and asked something. "I believe we haven't properly introduced ourselves yet. Although this is a bad time, let me go first. I'm Locke."

During the time Locke had spent in his previous world, Serpulo, he had learned many things. One of them was capturing an opportunity at a given chance, no matter what.

In that world, where a slight mistake of fuel overdose could lead to the destruction of the entire sector's power, he had developed a sense of knowing the perfect opportunities in any situation.

'This opportunity's quite hard to come by," He thought sincerely. 'Making new companions is a must...'

Hearing Locke's proposition, the four looked at each other for a moment before slightly nodding.

"Well, I guess I'm first!" The first that introduced themselves was the girl with light-pink hair. "I'm March 7th of the Astral Express! Nice to meet you!"

"I'm second," The man with dark hair said next. "I am Dan Heng. Like March, I too am from the Astral Express."

"Guess it's my turn," The gray-haired woman said next with her usual monotone voice. However, this time, she had a small smile on her face. "I'm Stelle and I... I don't know who I am."

"...?" Locke didn't understand what the girl named Stelle meant, however, he didn't probe into it much further. 'Must be some kind of philosophical thing...'

"Ah, I haven't told you my name yet," Arlan said while the antiseptic was being applied to him. "I'm Arlan, I am the current head of the security department here at the Herta Space Station."

"Nice to meet all of you," He had made four new companions. To him, this was a greater achievement than capturing a sector full of minerals and resources. 'Finally...'

After a while, he finished applying the antiseptic to Arlan. "There, all good."

"Thank you..." Arlan said weakly as he felt stung by the various antiseptic spray that was given to him.

"Hey, so how are we gonna seal those wounds? It won't be long before they start bleeding again," March voiced her concern.

"That won't be a problem," Locke adjusted his silver-rimmed glasses upwards with his two fingers. He then looked at them, "Do any of you have any spare cloth?"

"Hm? Are you gonna patch his wounds up with one cloth? Gotta say I don't think that would work well..." March said as she guessed what Locke was thinking.

"I agree," Stelle slightly nodded as she also got interested in what Locke was thinking.

"Just trust me..." Locke said with absolute confidence. This was because he has something in mind.

"Umm..." Arlan hummed and tugged Locke's clothes. He then gave something to him. "You can use this... it's not that helpful to me right now anyway..."

'A good-quality Fabric... Perfect... Locke looked and saw that it was the overshirt Arlan had. Seeing its size, Locke slightly nodded. "Alright, this would do."

He took the overshirt and placed it in his hand. And soon, everyone in the control room saw something fascinating.

The overshirt suddenly disappeared into small yellow fragments within seconds in his hand! However, before they could react, Locke's other hand glowed blue before producing an item.

"There, now we have a bandage roll," Locke said with a smile as he held the small bandage roll in his hand.

He made it quite easily. He just needed to dissect the shirt, extract the materials, form a blueprint for a bandage roll, and make one.

"Whoa! How did you do that?" March was amazed and took the bandage roll from Locke's hand with interest.

"Did you form a new item from pre-existing one...? Interesting..." Dang Heng guessed as he kept his aura of collectiveness.

"Did you just eat that thing and spit it out new?" Stella said with a deadpan expression. She was quite serious.

"... It's best to not think about it too much for now..." Locke evaded their questions and ignored them for the time being as he applied the bandage roll to Arlan.

"Aww... no fun..." March wanted to know more, however, there was not that much she can do. Locke was keeping his mouth shut.

"In any case..." Suddenly, Stelle spoke as she looked out the glass window of the storage control zone. "We should find a way to make the elevator work again..."

"Do you know anything about it, Arlan?" Dan Heng looked at him since he was a person working at the station.

"The elevator was shut down to keep the Antimatter Legion from reaching the Master Control Zone," Arlan said while Locke patched his shoulder with the bandage roll. He then looked at the three of them. "I'm sure you have met Lady Asta? If so, she must have given you the encryption key for accessing the elevator system."

"Oh right... she did give me some sort of card..." March said with a bit of uncertainty in her voice. "...wait... where was it again...?"

"...March..." Dan Heng became worried as he spoke with a hoarse voice.

"Uh... where did I put it..." March also became worried and searched for her person for the card.

Looking at her search, Locke couldn't help but contemplate with a blank expression. '...she's a bit clueless too sometimes...'

Being observant and quick to judge someone or something. Yes, this was Locke's way. After all, if he can't be a keen observer in his previous world, then a wave invasion might happen.

"Ah, found it!" A few moments later, March finally found the card and presented it to them.

"...That was a close call..." Locke said under his breath while patching up Arlan.

"Ha... tell me about it..." Dan Heng heard Locke and replied to him with a tired voice as he looked at Locke.

The latter subconsciously raised an eyebrow as he adjusted his silver-rimmed glasses. 'He and I are on the same wavelength.'

After searching Arlan up a bit more, he was finally finished. He stood up and walked near one of the computers and sat down on a chair in front of it. "There, all good now."

"Thank you..." Arlan sighed in relief as he was saved. He then looked at Locke and the others. "If it weren't for you all, my injury might have gotten worse."

"It's fine!" March said as she soon her head. "Anyways, since you're done now, let's go to the Master Control Zone now! You should come with us."

"Should I? I would just slow you down..." Arlan said. He was not in a good condition, that he knew. That's why he mustn't bother them too much.

"Don't worry too much about it! We'll keep you safe!" March insisted. She then looked at Dan Heng and Stelle. "Right guys?"

The latter two nodded at her words, reassuring Arlan. The latter, hearing them, couldn't help but give a sincere reply. "Thank you..."

Meanwhile, while the they were busy talking, Locke was observing them and couldn't help but smile. 'Is this... companionship?'

While Locke was looking, he also managed to get a glimpse of another person looking at him that snapped him out of his thought— it was Stelle. And she was looking at him with a curious gaze.

'?' Locke didn't know what she want and he merely nodded. 'Stelle... I can't seem to see through her. She always seems like a blank slate...'

'It's odd...' He thought as he rested his hand on the table. However, his finger managed to slightly touch a keyboard.

Suddenly, his hand glowed blue, and his eyes widened as he felt his [Construct] ability activating by itself. 'What the...' He then quickly turned his head behind him to look at a screen monitor.

"Hey Locke, are you not coming with us?" March called out for Locke as she and the others were preparing to return to the Master Control Zone of the Station with Arlan.

"Uhh... yeah, sure! I just need to check something out here really quick!" He said as he waved at them. "I'll catch up to you! It'll be quick, I promise."

"Be careful while trailing us," Arlan reminded Locke. He was his savior and he was indebted to him, as such, he doesn't want anything to happen to the latter.

Locke nodded with a reassuring faint smile, "Sure."

Soon, all of them nodded and all left the storage control zone, leaving Locke all by himself in it.

Seeing them leave, he turned around and looked at the computer screen where the keyboard he touched was connected to. "What the hell happened? Why did [Construct] activate?"

His ability activating by itself wasn't a rare occurrence. It happened on multiple occasions. Normally, it only happens if an already existing blueprint gets delayed and only appears much later.

However, very rarely, it happens when a saved blueprint gets in contact with its needed materials, and it will form on its own.

As such, it surprised him greatly when it activated by itself. 'Which blueprint is it...?'

Suddenly, right after he thought of this, a smartwatch left by someone in a hurry on the table suddenly vibrated with a sound and turned on.

Locke looked at it and saw that it was emitting a hologram with a screen that showed two words.

[Wear me]

'What the...?' Locke didn't know what was going on. The entire situation right now was very suspicious and he even got skeptical at what the watch might do.

However, a second matter, another message appeared on the hologram.

[It's me, master.]

Seeing the message, a sudden thought flashed through Locke's mind. 'No... it can't be...'

With skepticism, he slowly lifted the smartwatch and placed it on his left wrist. Fastening it, he faced the smartwatch and decided to speak with a low voice. "...Aiden?"

[Yes, master?] A new holographic message appeared and answered him in less than a second.

'It really was!' Locke couldn't believe it. The Artificial Intelligence that served as his personal assistant and the second-in-command of the Legion in his previous world, Aiden, was actually with him!
