"Now when I say ready, you'll all place your hands above your brooms and shout Up! Expend a little bit of your spirituality and stand stiff."
Loki along with the other students nodded and waited for Madam Hooch's go-ahead.
"Ready!" Madam Hooch shouted causing all students to raise their hands above their brooms and shout, "UP!"
Loki's broom shot into his hand with force enough to hurt him, causing him to wonder if the broom was an excited little puppy making him worry if there was something wrong with it.
Loki noticed a few more people around the courtyard all mostly purebloods or halfbloods had the same thing happen to them.
But he kept his expression neutral to the pain he experienced.
'Why did it hurt me so much? And why are only all the purebloods and half-bloods the ones who succeeded in getting the broom on the first try?'
'Is there something of substance to their pureblood theory?'
'But I'm not a pureblood, maybe I'm a half-blood? But I never saw my father.'
'I doubt any Wizard would've been roaming the back streets of London and bed a woman who was a drug addict.'
'Then does it have something to do with Beyonders?'
'Are those kids Beyonders too?'
'Argh…I'm very uninformed of the matters regarding Beyonders in this world. Should I start the Tarot Club after all?'
'But I've got nothing of substance to offer about this world.'
'If I did start one I'll probably seem more like a mendicant than a god…'
'Maybe I'll send a letter to Kreacher to see if the black family has any books about it?'
'I doubt there are any though since Walburga said that no mysticism knowledge was ever written down in books because it was dangerous at the higher levels.'
'And from the books I remember reading they were all about the various noble families and their pathways, nothing I don't already know more about.'
'Maybe the Hogwarts Library has something about it?'
'I doubt it though…'
"Mount your brooms!" Madam Hooch's voice interrupted Loki's machinations as he pushed his leg over the broom and sat on it comfortably.
'Is there an invisible magical cushion on this thing? How is it so comfortable to sit on!?'
Still amazed by his cushion, Loki did not notice the commotion around him as Neville rose up involuntarily. And as he rose, Neville passed by Loki and out of fear, held onto Loki for his dear life.
"Wha- WHAT THE HECK!?" Loki tried to pry off Neville's hands but the boy's iron grip was a little too strong for Loki to do anything about.
Getting dragged into the air by Neville was not a sensation that Loki liked so he pulled out his wand and did the next best thing that came to his mind.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" Loki chanted aiming his wand at Neville's clothes with a flick and swish causing him to become light as a feather so that Loki could drag him back to the ground on his own broom after instinctively controlling it to descend to the floor.
As soon as Loki landed, he freed himself from Neville's clutches but it seemed like fear had not left Neville yet since as soon as he landed on the ground, he fainted and collapsed.
The students immediately crowded around Loki and Neville with Madam Hooch pushing herself through them and arriving in front of Loki.
"Five points to Slytherin for using your head. But Five points from Slytherin for not paying attention to the class and your surroundings." Madam Hooch complemented and then pulled out her own wand, causing Neville to levitate behind her as she addressed the class.
"I want all students to behave themselves and stay put and off of their brooms for the next few minutes before I come back from the hospital wing."
But seeing that the students were still holding onto their brooms she added, "If I find even a single one of you in the air while I am gone, I will make sure you don't get any flying privileges for the rest of the year!"
The students shuddered a little and quickly dropped their brooms as Madam Hooch nodded and went off with the unconscious floating Neville to the Hospital wing.
"Look what I got.", Malfoy said as soon as Madam Hooch left along with Neville. "It's that fools ball that he got from his deary~ grandma."
"Give it to me Malfoy." Harry Potter said standing up to Malfoy.
"And what are you going to do if I don't? Wiggle on your broom like Longbottom, Potter?" Malfoy teased flying up on his broom.
"You asked for this Malfoy." Harry said and got on to his own broom and before any of the students could say anything, Harry and Malfoy got into a chase with each other, Malfoy moving at high speeds through the courtyard while Harry closely followed him.
And when Malfoy saw that Harry was flying on his tail, he tossed the remembrall far away into the distance so that no one would ever find it again.
But Harry dove closer to his broom, eliminating some air resistance and making himself more streamlined as he pushed his broom to the fastest speed he could before catching the remembrall in a fanatic dive where he stopped right in front of a window.
Flying back to the centre of the courtyard where everyone was waiting, Harry revealed the remembrall much to the amusement of Loki and all the other students who were cheering for him as they all booed Malfoy causing the Slytherin in the courtyard to look at him with distaste.
But before anyone could celebrate anything Professor McGonagall stepped into the courtyard and walked towards the group of students with a red face full of what appeared to be anger.
"Never in all my time at Hogwarts-"
"Professor McGonagall it was-"
"Be quiet Mrs Patil!"
"But professor it was Malfoy-" Ron began but he was ruthlessly silenced by McGonagall's stare.
"Follow me Mr. Potter." McGonagall ordered much to Malfoy's amusement and walked away with Harry following in toe. "I will be informing Professor Snape about your stunt too Mr. Malfoy."
Once Madam Hooch returned and learned about what had happened during her time away, she was furious, "Twenty points from Slytherin! And Ten points from Gryffindor!"
Walking in the cool corridors of the castle, Loki moved to the library where he went straight to Madam Pince.
"Madam Pince, could you tell me where I can find books to learn the Purification charm?"
"What are you going to do with it?"
"Erm…learn it?"
"It won't be possible for a first-year to learn such a complicated charm." Madam Pince directly denied helping.
"Please Madam Pince, maybe I can try my best?"
Madam Pince gave Loki an exasperated look and then pointed at a book shelf a little away from her desk.
"Go there and you'll find the book on the fifth shelf from the bottom. Remember I'm only doing this because you're close to Dominic, so if you do anything to anger me, I will take away your library privileges."
"Yes mam!"
Loki walked around the library searching not only for the book on the purification spell but also for anything related to rituals or mysticism but he found none.
With the book on purification spell found, Loki marched to the shelf to pick it up, and once he did he sat down in a corner in the library and began to read it.
'Ah, now I see why it is considered a complicated charm. I should've known.'
The purification charm required one to manipulate the shape of their spirituality after it was expelled from the wand into a complex geometric figure and only then would the charm activate.
'Technically if I'm fast enough, I can draw the shape by swinging my wand around but I'll more likely than not make a mistake while drawing the invisible figure in air and also not be fast enough to do so before it dissipates.'
'Damn, Madam Pince was right, this charm is not for me.'
'But I can still start training myself to perform such charms right?'
Stuffing the book back into its place, Loki moved to Madam Pince to ask her another question.
"You're back boy?" Madam Pince asked with a victory smile.
"Yes, mam you were right, and I was wondering if you could tell me how I could learn to manipulate my spirituality outside my body."
"Go to the shelf where the books for the fourth year are kept, you can find books about that topic in the charms section."
"Thank you Mam!" Loki said with a polite nod and left.
'Advanced spell casting! Here I come!'
