Lunch went by as a slow affair for Lex because he had to wait, once again, to be picked up like some child, which he was in the eyes of the older years, and go to their next class which was History of Magic with the Puffs.
He sighed once again as he didn't enjoy having a minder watching his every move, he wanted to be free and tour the castle.
'At least it's just for the first week…' he thought and waited for the prefect to come.
Twenty minutes before class was about to begin, they gathered up once again and were led by the older years to History of Magic. The prefect advised them that, for this class, self study was the best way to go through because Binns, due to his nature as a ghost, wasn't exactly the most reliable or stable sort. And, by god, his advice would prove true once class started.
Anyway, they went into class as a group and Alexander, being the last in line once again, was left with a front seat as his only option on the Slytherin side. He took it, sat down and opened his HoM book.
Soon enough, the Puffs trickled in one by one and he could see Susan sitting with Hannah, they were in the middle rows. They didn't glance his way even once, at least he didn't see them do so.
Letting out a sigh, he decided that what's done is done and just waited for the professor who, unlike Snape who used the teachers door, simply appeared through a wall and went to his desk and started the roll call.
'Fucking hell, who thought that History of freaking magic could be so boring' was all Lex could think not even 20 minutes into the lesson.
'I was a History buff in my last life but even my passion can barely keep my eyes from giving the peace sign and going to buy milk and cigarettes' he ranted on and on in his mind only to be stopped three minutes later when he felt something hitting his back.
He put his hand backwards and took out a piece of paper.
'Fucking spit balls? First this boring ass lecture and now this shit!? I've just about had it' Lex's patience was growing very thin with these juveniles. He turned around to look at the stooges only to be met with another ball, this time hitting his shirt straight on. He looked back up and saw Draco, Crabbe, Goyle, Zabini that George fucker and a couple of girls snickering and barely holding in a laugh.
He quickly turned around in order to hide his eyes which were beginning to glow brighter and brighter due to his annoyance. His action was misinterpreted by the Slytherins as him showing fear and finally being brought down a peg because they laughed once again, only this time Draco failed to hide his.
"What's with this ruckus?" Professor Binns, one who would either ignore or simply not see anything out of the ordinary chose precisely that time to be attentive and turned around to the source of the sound.
"It was Morgan, Professor!" said Zabini "He thought that the lecture was boring and that history is nothing more than a joke!"
"Is that so?" asked the ghost getting almost all Slytherins to nod their head bar some. The Puffs stayed quiet and didn't say anything, not one of them.
'So much for the house of loyalty' thought Lex as he faced his professor.
"Then I guess Mr. Morgan would need a reminder of history. Detention with me all Saturday morning" said Binns.
This caused Lex's anger to show up on surface as he snapped the quill he was holding in half. Head down with dark locks covering his glowing eyes.
The students laughed once again but he paid them no mind, he was THIS close to just using his telekinesis and severing some nerves.
'Just some not all, they could still live without the ability to hear from one of their ears, or not moving some fingers, or losing a toe or an eye. No, calm down, Lex, calm down, there's a time and place for everything' he grimly thought, calming down and raising his head before nodding to Binns.
During this whole commotion he missed entirely the sight of a redhead looking at him with deep concern and worry before determination steeled itself in her eyes. The redhead knew what she had to do.
Class finished with nothing else of note happening, the first year Slytherins having had enough fun with the mudblood, for now. Lex was gathering up his things and was about to head out the class when he bumped into someone. He didn't see who because he was still stuck in his own head, thinking of ways to punish some idiots. He dropped his book then went to pick it up only to find his hands bumping into another's. She was just some rando Puff whose name he didn't know.
He uttered his sorries and his thanks and went straight to the group of Slytherin and followed them, and the prefect minder, back to the common room as classes were over for today. Once there, he went straight to his room while hearing some snickering behind him as Draco went and told everything that happened during History class.
Once in front of his door, he cast more observation spells and, seeing that everything is clean, went inside where he repeated the process.
'Not that these idiots could bypass the wards, but you never know' he thought as he deposited his school books on the desk.
'I have all the rest of the day free, I could catch up on some reading before dealing with the little princelings' so he did. He read for the next couple of hours and, when he finally thought of taking a break from his self study of magic outside of Hogwarts, picked the History of Magic book on a whim.
'Let's hope that the book is interesting or I don't know what I'll do. Probably chuck it into the atmosphere…' he mused as he absentmindedly flipped the pages.
"Oh, what's this, I wonder?" he said out loud as he noticed that a letter had fallen out from between the pages of the book.
"Hmm, now when did this get here? Ah, it must've been the Puff girl. Now, let's check it" he first inspected the letter with his magic, looking for anything untoward and finding none, opened it and read through.
'Meet me in the third classroom on the right of the Great Hall at 7pm, tonight' the letter said.
"Fuck it, I might as well check this shit out, It's about 5 now so I got about two hours to kill before then"
The two hours passed quite quickly while he read through the History of Magic textbook, it turned out that HoM WAS interesting when it wasn't taught by a centuries old ghost with a medieval teaching's license, there was so much more, so many ideas interspaced between the lines that it gave him many sparks of inspiration.
After his pleasant reading, after all he couldn't just train for all the free time that he has, that would lead to burnout. Anyway, after all that, he found himself face to face with the door mentioned in the mysterious letter, arriving exactly five minutes late.
'Can't have them expecting everything now, can I?' he mused to himself as he did his observation spells which had by now become ritual. 'Single witch or wizard inside, no other traps or otherwise hidden spells, not any that I could find out anyway' there was always the possibility that he overlooked something or that he did not yet have the proper ways of dealing with situations.
Steeling himself and gripping his wand under his cloak he opened the door wide and fast. He cast a quick glance into the room before he…

Before he was tackle hugged by a red haired missile.
"Lex, are you okay? Oh, did those bastards do anything to you? Please tell me that you're okay! Don't worry, I'll deal with them soon enough but please stay safe!"
To say that Lex was bewildered would be a proper statement, he took a second to get himself together, though silently cursing himself in his mind for not expecting something like a direct attack, and looked down at the 'perpetrator'.
He found a determined yet teary eyed Susan Bones looking up at him.
"Wha…huh?" was all Lex could say before Susan put her hands on his cheeks and stared into his eyes.
"Did they do something to you? Are they threatening you? I knew it! That dickless bastard Malfoy would surely do something. Damn it! I planned to do something about it later but who would have thought that…" Susan began muttering plans to take Malfoy down. Some of them even sent a shiver through Lex's spine.
"Slow down, Suze, what's going on? I honestly thought for a second that you didn't want to associate with me. And plans? What plans?" he said as he gently took Susan's hands of his cheeks.
"What's going on? What's going on?! It's that YOU got put into Slytherin and would have to suffer while being there. That's what's wrong!" she said quickly before taking a deep breath "And ignoring you? How could I do that? I was planning on distancing myself for a bit, until this weekend, so that the purebloods would not target you by your acquaintance with me. Some of their families are filled with 'former' Death Eaters and they hate my aunt. They can't really do anything to me due to my status but you…*sigh* you don't have that protection" she said her piece leaving Lex honestly impressed with the thought that she put into it. He honestly believed her.
"Thank you Suze and I apologize" he began but was interrupted "You don't need to apologize, if anything, it should be m-" she began but Lex put a finger on her lips, shutting her off and leaving her with a bit of red dusting on her cheeks.
"Shh, Suze, let me finish. As I was saying, I apologize for assuming the worst and I am very glad to have someone like you. I was sad that I almost lost the first friend that I made in the wizarding world" he said with a smile while Susan happily nodded. 'Dippet doesn't count as a friend though, he's more of a very trusted aide-de-camp' he added in his mind.
"Now that we have sorted that business out, let's sit, we have a couple of hours to kill before lights out" Lex said and they moved to sit side by side on a bench.
"Don't think that I missed out the part about you plans. What were you thinking about, Suze?"
"Ah, that, threats, strong arming, some blackmail and there are a couple more" she began listing her plans as if she was remembering a grocery list.
Lex chuckled "My, oh my, who would have thought that Susan Bones, the niece of the Head of the DMLE would resort to blackmail and other illegal stuff?" he said in a teasing tone.
Susan simply puffed out her chest "My aunt taught me the law, she also taught me which laws I can bend or break" she said proudly.
"Damn, I'm impressed, I simply must meet her someday" Lex said and gave her a shining smile.
"You will, this Christmas, you're invited to spend it with us" she said absentmindedly.
"Already meeting the aunt, aren't we moving a bit too fast?" he ended with a chuckle.
"Ah! Well, I mean, if you want, I don't want to be a bother, you can always refuse.." she muttered and Lex was reminded of a certain green haired hero from another world.
"I'd be delighted to come, Suze" he said and was soon met with another hug.
"YAY, um, I mean, of course" she yelled but then caught herself. "Aaaanyway, don't think I'm letting this go, how do you want to deal with Slytherin? I can, no, I WILL help!"
"Thanks for the concern but it's not needed"
"But…"
"Let me finish" he said and he untangled from her hug, yeah, that didn't stop since it began. 'I will trust her with this much at least' he thought to himself as he got off the bench and went to the middle of the classroom.
"Watch"
And watch she did. Susan saw as his already brilliant and gorgeous green eyes lit up with power, it was so strong that it was almost palpable and her breath got caught up in her chest. She saw as Lex lifted both of his arms up in the air and all the furniture in the room, sans the bench she was on, floated in the air.
"Wow!" she let out.
"You've seen nothing yet"
She then saw him clench his fist and the random wooden furniture reassembled itself, it was as if the wood was melting and forming into a varied assortment of weapons: spears, swords, axes, chains. She observed that they weren't just wood, they shone with a black luster that definitely did not come from trees.
"Observe"
He flicked one arm and some of the weapons formed a big wall on the opposite side of the room. Lex flicked his other arm and the wooden spears launched at the wooden wall faster than her eyes could see.
There was no explosion, hell, there was barely any sound, Susan turned around and noticed that the wooden wall was now littered with holes.
"Merlin's balls!" she shouted.
Lex chuckled and snapped his fingers leading to the whole array of weaponry being returned to their previous state as simple furniture.
"I guess you can deal with them…" Susan muttered disappointedly. Don't get her wrong, she wasn't disappointed that he could deal with the Slytherins, she was in fact ecstatic for that. She was simply disappointed that she couldn't be of more help to him.
She was broken off from her thoughts as she was engulfed in a hug. All disappointment vanished and only a feeling of contentment remained.
"That's not the main point though, that's just for showing off" said Lex which led her mind to wander on other possibilities "Let me give you a hint Suze, if I can skilfully move and reshape big targets…" he began then trailed off and looked at her with a smile. She liked that smile a lot.
"Damn…" was all that she could say.
"'Indeed" he grinned maliciously but then stopped and looked at her seriously.
"Susan, I have to ask though, why go through all this for a person that you've just met the day before?"
She sighed. How could she say out loud that she was afraid of losing someone else, afraid of losing another after her parents? Her aunt taught her that once she found someone she began to care for she should protect them with all that she had. Of course she could say that, she found that with Hannah and she would protect that precious shy girl but with Lex… with Lex it was just different, it was like they clicked from the moment they said 'hello' to one another.
Susan didn't know what that feeling was but she certainly enjoyed it, and she certainly would protect it and therefore him, forever.
Alexander, though not a genius in observation, could see that she had some reason to do it and he guessed that it had something to do with her upbringing. He didn't guess the last part, not yet, though it wouldn't take him too long to do so.
He simply smiled and nodded to her.
"I understand" he simply said and tightened his hug.
"Mhm" Susan's muffled response could be heard from the hug. She knew he didn't understand, not really. He just wanted to not embarrass her or to put her into a position she wouldn't want to be in. And she liked the feeling even more.
The two younglings would continue to chat, laugh and plan together for almost two hours until it was time for both of them to go back to their dorms.
Sleep time found Alexander sitting at the table in his room with a small smile adorning his face as he really did enjoy the time with his new favorite redhead.
'But sometimes, good things take a pause for business must be done' he thought and smiled wickedly as the traps placed around his door sprung open.
'It will be a pleasure to do business with them' Lex grinned wickedly
