21 21. Sorting Ceremony

The boomerang he threw finally hit himself.

McGonagall never imagined that the person who almost caused the first student to drop out since the founding of Hogwarts was two young students from their college.

"What happened?"

No longer in a hurry for the sorting ceremony, McGonagall squeezed through a passage and came to Wayne's side, asking sternly.

She had to figure out the whole story before she could decide what punishment to give the twins - should they be confined for a week or a month?

Wayne repeated it, without adding any embellishments. He is such an honest person.

When he finished speaking, Professor McGonagall was troubled.

If you want to go too far, the Twins and Cedric merely followed tradition, maybe just providing more detail.

There's nothing inherently wrong with that either.

But if she does nothing, and simply lets the Twins go, McGonagall feels extremely uncomfortable.

This incident almost scared away several freshmen, so she must not let it go.

"Okay, I can guarantee that there is no danger in the sorting ceremony. You don't have to worry."

"Now form two lines, stay quiet, and follow me."

Let's set aside the matter of the twins for now and deal with it after the sorting ceremony is completed.

Despite McGonagall's assurance, most of the new students were still extremely nervous and followed her silently.

Hermione hadn't recovered yet, so Wayne had to hold her hand to ensure that she didn't fall. They walked forward like a doll.

A group of people exited the room, walked through the foyer, passed through the door on the other side, and finally entered the main hall of Hogwarts.

The auditorium was extremely majestic, with thousands of candles floating in the air. It wasn't environmentally friendly, but it illuminated the place as bright as day.

Four long tables were placed side by side, with a slightly higher step that had a guest seat, which was currently vacant.

"The ceiling here is enchanted to look like a real starry sky."

The magnificent scenery made Hermione recover a lot, and she subconsciously explained some facts.

After saying that, she realized that Wayne was still holding her hand, and her face turned red.

Seeing that Wayne showed no intention of letting go, she became even more anxious. But she was too shy to speak up, so she could only let him continue holding her hand.

Professor McGonagall placed a high stool on the middle step of the auditorium, with a hat on it.

The original color of the hat couldn't be seen anymore, but it wasn't the taupe color it is now.

After doing all this, McGonagall glared hard at the twins from her college. After confusing them, she descended the steps and approached the new students. Then, the hat suddenly jumped, cracked a sound, and sang as if it had a voice of its own.

Old students are used to this, but freshmen find it fascinating.

A singing hat is a perfect fit for Hogwarts, a place full of peculiar things.

Wayne listened for a while but soon lost interest.

It is said that the Sorting Hat sings a different song each year. It is used only once a year, and the rest of the time it is used to think about the lyrics.

But no matter how much you think about it, fighting on the street is just fighting on the street. It won't change the meaning of the word.

When the song ended, everyone applauded together.

"Whoever's name I call, put on the hat and sit down, waiting for the sorting results," McGonagall said.

Finally, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. It simply means wearing a hat. Anyone can do it.

Although this hat is so dirty that many fastidious witches look at it with disgust, compared to the tests Wayne mentioned...

It's so simple.

"Hannah Abbott!"

A girl with braids hurried over.

Wayne's eyes also fell on the hat.

Hannah put the hat on her head, and after a moment, the Sorting Hat made its decision.

"Hufflepuff!"

The people at the table on the right applauded Hannah and welcomed her.

"Susan Bones!"

Susan, who had just been on the same boat as Wayne and Hermione, took her turn.

"Hufflepuff!"

Two students in a row were sorted into Hufflepuff, which undoubtedly made the little badgers very happy. Cedric applauded excitedly among the crowd.

Suddenly, he felt a gaze fixed on him.

Turning around, Wayne looked at him with a half-smile.

Remembering how he had lied to Wayne on the train, Honest Cedric waved his hand at him, feeling embarrassed.

Wayne didn't take it seriously.

Laugh, laugh.

Soon, you won't be able to laugh anymore.

Professor McGonagall's anger was fully ignited.

"..."

"Terry Boot!"

"Ravenclaw."

As the line grew shorter, Hermione took the chance to ask Wayne which House he wanted to be in.

Upon hearing Hufflepuff, the little witch's face filled with disbelief.

The book says that Hufflepuff is probably the most average House in Hogwarts. Why would Wayne want to go there?

But it was too late. According to the letter, Hermione was called next.

She almost ran to the stool and hastily put on the hat. Because her head was too small, it practically swallowed her whole head.

"Gryffindor!" the Hat called out, and Wayne wasn't surprised.

There were no external influences, and it seemed only natural for Hermione to be in Gryffindor.

Several more students passed by.

Wayne observed and noticed that the students assigned to Ravenclaw and Slytherin were the fewest, especially Slytherin. So far, there were only two students in that House.

There were only four Ravenclaws. Hufflepuff has the most students, and that's true. Other houses still have a lot of empty seats at their tables, but Hufflepuff looks very full.

"Neville Longbottom!" McGonagall shouted again.

When Neville put on the hat, it took a long time for the Sorting Hat to call out Gryffindor. Neville excitedly ran away with the hat, causing a burst of laughter.

He blushed and trotted back to put the hat away. Wayne was sure that at this moment, Neville wanted to turn into Laifu and hide in a place where no one could find him.

"Wayne Lawrence!" McGonagall finally called Wayne's name.

All the freshmen looked at Wayne. They were frightened by the lie just now, and Malfoy gritted his teeth. Many senior students were also impressed.

What a cute little wizard, come to your sister's arms, let her love and care for you, and check your wand.

In the guest of honor seat, Dumbledore raised his head, his glasses reflecting the light, and curiosity emerged in his heart.

Which house will this young genius, who can spontaneously cast the Patronus Charm, be assigned to when he gets the wand?

Under the spotlight, Wayne picked up the hat and put it on his head. Soon, a voice sounded in his mind.

"Oh, what an interesting little wizard..."
