84 Chapter 84 : The Interview 1

Finally, the day that Orion was dreading came. On Wednesday Rita Skeeter showed up.

[Personally, I never like all media and lights. It's just but a distraction to your goals] Merlin on the side just nags about how the times have changed, I mean no shit Grandpa, it's not 500 BCE, media play a huge role in this world now and this is nothing, just thinking about the 21st century, Orion couldn't help but just sigh.

Social Media was practically ruling the world at one point.

"I don't like it much either but have to do it, building connections and keeping a good relationship with ministry and all." Orion murmurs to himself.

"Merlin, I can't believe this is happening. Orion why you are not excited, you will be featured in 'The Daily Prophet', the biggest newspaper in the wizarding world, and everyone reads it," Daphne squealed with delight, almost making Orion on the extreme proximity of her having short-term hearing lost.

"It's not that big deal, Rose has been featured in that paper multiple times," Hermione said with a snort. And the said girl didn't even care, Rose didn't even know that there were multiple stories and merchandise that existed in her name. Let alone just some mere newspaper.

"Oh come on, she is the supposed saviour of the wizarding world. This is not similar." Daphne counters, looking much more excited about this than even Orion.

"I think its a good. You deserve this Orion," Rose just slightly encouraged his friend from the side.

"I don't see this being that big of a thing." Ron's attitude was much like Orion's on this matter, actually, he was jealous but acting like he didn't care.

"Alright all of you, there is no point making this a bigger deal than it is. This is just a stupid newspaper article and nothing more. I am only doing this because Professor Dumbledore asked me to." Orion just wanted to be done with it. He completed his training in Law and could finally go back to his initial Force training but now he had to deal with this shit.

Saying this, he started to walk away. Skeeter asked to talk with other students first. Especially Orion classmates.

And tell who is the best person to start from, definitely someone from Slytherin right?

Orion just snorted, the woman was clearly trying to find any kind of dirt on him. But that's fine. Orion has his own way of handling this.

After all, he was not just motivated to master the Law of Presence out of the blue you know. If that blond bitch try anything funny, she had it coming.

"I swear I will make her piss herself if she tries to write something strange about me," Orion's smiled and finally entered the room.

----

He saw a woman sitting there alone, blonde hair set in elaborate curls that contrasted oddly with her heavy-jawed face.

'Yup, this is the height of inbreeding. Some might say that thanks to magic the wizarding people will be beautiful. Then they have another thing coming.

Actually, there used to be a time when magic people were like elves from Tolkien's work. Merlin himself is a prime example his natural life was nothing less than 400 years and the bastard lived up to a staggering 1000 years thanks to magic.

And even after having a bazillion wrinkle on his face, he still looked pretty handsome. Well, what do you expect from an Ian Mekellen stunt double?

But nowadays no thanks to all that inbreeding, that natural beauty has been long lost. Orion caught Merlin sneering many times at those ugly faces.

In fact, according to Merlin, looks like Orion was quite common in his days. Right now Orion looks like a pop star or a male model but back in his days, he could only be said as ordinary looks. Well ordinary along wizards that is.

[She looks even worse than her movie counterpart] Merlin was the first one to open his mouth.

'Yeah, but it doesn't matter, just focus on what is important and we are out of here.' Orion responded and went to greet the older woman.

"Hello Ms Skeeter, I was told that you will be the one taking my interview today," Orion greeted with a very formal tone, he was not playing buddy with with this woman. And hell he will be falling for those media tactics.

If they asked you something that doesn't mean that you have to answer them. Not at all, just deny answering anything you don't want to answer, they don't have any right or power to get that information out of you. And even if they try then well. Be my guest and smack that ass hard.

"Ah dear, you are finally here. I have to say Orion I have been waiting for this interview for a long time. Let's start." Rita said trying to get familiar. Yeah like that is happening.

Orion took his seat but before that, he looked at an expensive-looking magic quill at the desk.

[Yeah, that's a magical quill, better rig it. Otherwise, your all words will be recorded. Giving that sneaky reporter more time to arrange her question and ask more] Merlin said.

'Don't worry I have it covered,' Orion answered.

"Orion I have to say that I was not expecting such a young boy like you to write a book like that, I am impressed, " Rita said with a fake smile, he could tell because once someone masters the Law of Presence they can sense other's feelings as well.

Law of Presence works in both ways, like Conqueror's Haki as well as Observation Haki. Orion can sense that she is not lying about being the impressed part but there is nothing but malicious intent behind that innocent smile of hers.

"Glad you like my work, Ms Skeeter," Orion answered with all the indifference he could muster.

"Oh come on kid, you don't have to be so stiff. I understand that you are nervous, believe me, everyone is in there first time. You don't have to worry at all." Rita said trying to loosen up Orion.

"I assure you that I am not nervous, this is my usual code of conduct. It might not look like it, especially after reading that book but I assure you that I usually don't talk with that kind of language. When I was writing that book it was just a little fun project for me to try to be funny at the start. But only later I decided to publish it.

It just happened that the person I asked to remove all the crude language wasn't able and because of the deadline, we had to publish the book like this." Orion said with much calm tone and a little smile at the incident regarding his book.

" Ah I see, then let's start our interview with the book itself," Rita said clearly not expecting Orion to be this compose.

Merlin's classes on mannerisms really came in handy just now for Orion.

"Sure, please go ahead and ask anything you like" Orion said but his focus was on the quill on the desk. He was absorbing magic from it while talking with Rita.

So when Rita actually started, the quill remained still.

"Hmm excuse me, I usually don't have any problem with my trusty quill but apparently is not working today," Rita forced a smile after seeing the quill still not moving and inspected it.

"Oh dear, seems like the enchantment on the quill ran out." Rita acted like it was unfortunate but internally she was cursing. She spend quite a bit of money to get this quill enchanted.

She didn't like writing manually and now she has to again.

"Hmm, mister Orion mind you sharing a quill with me. I didn't carry other with me," Rita asked with no shame. Some kind of journalist she is not even carrying an additional pen.

"I don't have a quill ready but you can use this pen. It's a magical fountain pen I created for my use," Orion took out the pen, not leaving any chance to get a free promotion.

There won't be much bashing or anything but Orion won't be acting like a naive kid. In fact the more time passes his attitude and approach to things will get more mature.

Readers might see that I wrote MC as childish in the earlier chapter and that will slowly go away. Not entirely but as 3rd, 4th and 5th year come it will be apparent.
