"Where is Rose?" Orion asked.
"Haha, don't worry, your little girlfriend is fine… maybe still circling in that maze," Morgan replied with a smirk still on her face.
Only after she said this did Orion realize that the ring he gave her was still in Hogwarts.
"Why target both me and Nick? Who the hell are you, and why do this?" Orion asked.
"Haha… why would a dead man want to know anything? Just die in peace, though that would be hard seeing how this dagger is no ordinary one.
"It took me a long time to make this plan, you know. Finding out what your ability stops and what bypasses it was hard…
But I finally understand how it works. You stop pretty much anything you find dangerous, and at your blind spot, you don't even bother letting anything move, not even air. The only place where you even get oxygen is where you can see, acting like an opening in that space shell you have around you to take in air. And seeing how fast your reflexes are, I doubt that even my fastest magic can miss your eyes.
"You don't open this shell for anything or anyone… anyone except the two girls who have you all tied up around their fingers.
"You even unconsciously open the shell even in a fight if it's either of them, right!…
"Ah, love sure is dangerous…
Many great men have died due to it," the girl replied.
For the time being, Orion planned to call her Morgan only; he didn't believe that any other name suited her anyway.
Orion decided to turn to Hermione and asked, "And you, Hermione, are you also working with her, or are you also a fake?" Orion narrowed his eyes while trying to stop his bleeding. The dagger was working; his magical healing wasn't effective—it was a cursed object, alright.
But that doesn't mean that his body itself can't help this wound… just need a little time.
Hermione, hearing this, only smirked a little. This was the first time the girl showed any emotion all this time.
"Oh, actually, you are right on that one." Morgan was the one who replied this time, and then she slowly walked up to Hermione. With the same dagger, she attacked her, cutting off Hermione's neck in one fell swoop.
Orion was stunned, but only for a second before he realized… that the girl in front of him was not even a human anyway, let alone Hermione. She was nothing more than a doll.
No blood came out… even when Morgan nearly cut off that fake Hermione's entire head from her body, there was nothing.
Orion, seeing that the girl wasn't even Hermione anymore, just paused and kept staring at Hermione for some time before he turned back to Morgan.
"What did you do with her?" he asked with narrowed eyes.
"Hmm… let me think… hmm…
What did I do with her?
Hmm…
Nah, can't remember. I remember I killed the girl, but what happened to her body after that, I don't remember," Morgan said, to which Orion's eyes widened. His wound suddenly ached as he tried to move. His face looked ugly right now.
"Oh, what's with that face…
Come, darling, you don't expect me to remember what happened with every person I kill, do you?
I can't remember how many I killed two days ago, let alone two years…" Morgan replied, which only made Orion more agitated.
"It was you all along… Hermione was never there…" Orion shouted.
"Huh… hmm, no honey, that's not it. I don't have time to waste here on some pathetic puppet," Morgan replied, pointing at Nick's dead body.
"You see, I thought he would be something special when I learned that bitch chose him, but he was nothing but a failure, call it in this life or his last…" Morgan replied, to which Orion didn't respond at all. In fact, in his mind, he was starting to connect the dots.
"That bitch doesn't happen to be Death, would she?" Orion muttered, but apparently, she heard him just right.
"Haha, I almost forgot that you know it… I am really interested, you know, how a boy who has nothing to do with this all knows who that ancient being is in the first place.
"You are stronger than you have any right to be, and you bear that man's name.
"Tell me, how come it is that only recently others, including me, realized what your title entails?
"What kind of magic has to be that even I didn't realize you are Merlin's descendant?
"Honestly! Who are you exactly… How do you know about Death, and how the hell did you even learn about something like Law in the first place?" she asked with a curious tone.
"Hmm… let me guess, that's why you are not directly killing me… because you are curious?" Orion glared at Morgan.
"Haha, you catch on fast. I wasn't lying when I said I like men like you, Orion D Ambrosius. Shame you are a little too young for me," Morgan said.
"How the hell are you even alive in the first place? No one can live a thousand years like it's nothing," Orion gritted his teeth.
"Tsk… tsk… tsk…
That's a secret; I can't tell," Morgan replied as if she were playing around, making Orion mad, but he didn't move. He still needed some time. Not to mention, he wanted more answers.
"So I assume that you don't work for Death, seeing how both of you don't seem to be on good terms…
So when you already knew that Nick was someone sent by Death… why play with him, send a doll to replace Hermione… why not directly kill him?" Orion now wanted to know; that was the only thing he wanted to know right now.
"Hmm… you keep asking questions which make me want to take your life that much, boy. You are more like that man than just that name of yours. His blood undoubtedly."
Orion, hearing this, didn't reply directly. He just pursed his lips and sighed. Though there were many questions yet to be answered, he connected enough dots to understand what was going on.
She was behind all that happened… her and Death might not be on the same boat, but they were making his life miserable all the same.
Death sent Nick here and was playing him like a puppet, and then she, knowing that, used Hermione… not sure what connection there is between Hermione and Nick, but she overtook Hermione to influence Nick for some reason. And this happened in the second year.
Thinking this, Orion couldn't help but grit his teeth in anger because this also meant that the Hermione he knew never truly sided with Nick.
It was this bitch…
She not only toyed with Nick but also with me.
She killed Hermione to take her place; she was behind everything that happened.
"Quite hypocritical for someone who keeps asking me questions like you are using Google," Orion replied with a calm tone.
"Google? Is that another one of your modern magic tricks? I have to say that these peasants were able to do quite something with how they use magic in this era. It's much easier; I have to give that much. But it's weak…"
*Sigh, it's still only 1995… it honestly hurts when even my jokes are not something others understand because of the generation gap…
At least Merlin understood thanks to that guy who had read my memories…*
"Never mind, last question…
Tell me, aren't you a little too confident about that dagger of yours? That you are leisurely talking with me like that and giving me time to recuperate?" Orion asked, to which Morgan just smirked.
There was no way that Orion could heal from that. The dagger was not only good at disturbing magic, but there was no way to use any magic to heal the wound created by this dagger.
It was quite an old artifact that she dug up… took her a long time to figure out.
But that smirk was wiped off her face as soon as Orion, who was still kneeling and trying to close his wound with his hands, stood up.
Her face immediately changed upon seeing that the boy was able to stand up after that wound she gave him, but the wound… it wasn't bleeding anymore.
"How? That is not possible!
What did you do? No magic should be able to heal that." Morgan looked frustrated.
"Yeah, yeah, I got it… I got it," Orion replied with a slightly annoyed tone. Magic really wasn't working to heal his body; even Law didn't work.
But thanks to his body's natural regeneration power, which he got from that giant monster in the Fate world, he was able to pull through here. Otherwise, he might really be a gone case.
After all, that wound was fatal.
"So…
You killed my waifu…
If that's it," Orion finally asked, and this time his tone was heavy…
It almost felt like the air itself was frozen at that time, and seeing this, Morgan's entire body shook.
His blue eyes had a crazy dark tint while he shone with magical power; the air felt like it was thickening, as if it were getting hard to breathe.
To her horror… she felt magical power that was around level 6 earlier but was now getting higher and higher and….
"What… what are you?"
