57. Breakup

"I remember warning you to stay away from her," Skender said angrily as he approached.

His muscular body seemed imposing.

"You said you were collecting material for a novel, and I believed you. But how do you repay my trust?" Skender stared at him.

Skender's sudden appearance caused Nagini to subconsciously tremble, but she raised her head stubbornly, her slender neck held high like a proud white swan, remembering what she had just said.

Aurelius glanced helplessly at Nagini, and then at the eager Zouwu in the cage.

This was slightly unexpected.

"Why are you here? If I recall correctly, the show shouldn't have ended yet," Aurelius straightened up, regaining his usual composure, and spoke calmly.

"Hah! If it weren't like this, how could I witness everything happening here? A couple of adulterous lovers? A forbidden romance between a wizard and a low-class individual? Romeo and Juliet?" Skender laughed angrily.

"Your description is a bit inaccurate," Aurelius smiled, shaking his head. He said with emotion, "It's true that man is not as good as god. Even if I think it over and over again, there will always be someone who loses control."

"What are you talking about?"

"Nothing, I just feel a bit emotional. This matter can be calculated precisely, but people cannot. Thank you, Skender, you have taught me a lot these days. However, our fate might end here," Aurelius sighed.

"You want to leave?" Skender frowned. He admired Aurelius from the bottom of his heart, especially since Aurelius had managed to approach a ferocious beast like Zouwu right from their first meeting. Skender had even considered passing the circus down to Aurelius when he was too old to continue.

"Remember? I was just a passerby," Aurelius smiled and apologized. "Although unintentional, I have been an unwelcome guest. Skender, I want to take Nagini and Zouwu with me."

"You're dreaming! Don't even think about it!" Skender was furious.

When a valued employee leaves, not to mention losing a precious magical animal and an actor they had spent over ten years training.

"I'm sorry, but I didn't ask for your opinion," Aurelius shook his head.

His words caused Skender to explode completely. He pulled out his wand and without any hesitation, petrified everything in sight, striking the seemingly defenseless Aurelius.

Visible to the naked eye, wherever the magic power passed, Aurelius's body became stiff.

"Aurelius!" Nagini shouted urgently, while Zouwu in the cage continued to scratch and emit a deafening purr.

"I have tamed more than half of the magical animals here. I know how to handle them, and it's not just the Seamless Stretch Spell!" Skender was very confident in his ability to petrify all the animals. Even the giant dragon can be immobilized. However, Aurelius is destined to be a special case.

"Let him go!" Nagini shouted at Skender.

"Are you dreaming? A brat who doesn't understand the rules of this world," Skender looked at Nagini sinisterly, believing that all of this was Nagini's fault. She had ruined a circus that should have had an outstanding animal trainer. Skender's regret grew even stronger after witnessing Zouwu's protective actions.

Hiss~

Nagini's hatred sprouted, and her head instantly transformed into a snake head. Her mouth filled with blood as four venomous fangs suddenly attacked Skender. However, Skender easily blocked the attack using the armored bodyguard he summoned.

A frontal attack on a senior wizard who was on full alert? It was no easy feat for venomous snakes like Nagini, let alone magical animals at the XXXX level. Snakes have always been synonymous with lurking and assassinating, not skilled in frontal combat.

"You're asking for trouble!" Skender's wand flashed, indicating that he was ready to cast another spell.

"Now, we're even," Aurelius said calmly, shocking Skender with his indifferent voice.

Skender simply couldn't believe that someone could escape the petrification curse in such a short period.

Aurelius waved his hand, revealing a pile of gold coins.

"It's enough to cover your losses, Skender. We've gotten along quite well, and I don't want our farewell to be so tense," Aurelius said seriously.

Rather than responding harshly to Skender's actions, Aurelius remained composed and took the high road.

No matter how you looked at it, Skender had nothing to do with him, despite his unethical behavior. Even though Aurelius possessed the power to overpower or even kill Skender in an instant, he never even considered doing so.

As a human being, there should always be a certain level of moral integrity.

"Then it depends on your abilities!" Skender waved his wand, redirecting the curse he had just prepared toward Aurelius.

Aurelius didn't even need to retrieve his wand. With a wave of his hand, he tore open the iron cage that hung above the kappa's head. He then forcefully pulled out a group of fire lizards who blocked the curse and were thrown towards Skender.

The frightened fire lizards crackled with sparks from their tails, forcing Skender to deal with them first.

At the same time, Aurelius untied the cage that had restrained Zouwu.

The roaring sound of Zouwu reverberated through the circus, signifying its regained freedom.

Aurelius pulled Nagini, who had transformed into a python, back and flew up onto Zouwu's back.

Nagini transformed back into her human form and wrapped her jade arms around Aurelius's waist.

"Aurelius, didn't you say you were waiting for an opportunity?" Zouwu shouted excitedly."Now!" Aurelius quickly caught the suitcase that had been thrown from his dormitory. As he did, the gold coins in his hand scattered across the ground. With excitement, the Zouwu cheered and jumped up, its four hooves leaving the ground.

The Zouwu's unique ability had been instantly activated.

It was Aurelius' first time riding the Zouwu, and he felt as though he had been transported through time and space. Despite not being very fast, the Zouwu's running made it impossible for Aurelius to see the quickly retreating scenery.

"So this is what Newt meant by traveling a thousand miles in a day," Aurelius thought, recalling Newt's comments on the Zouwu.

"This is incredible! It's like the ground is shrinking beneath me!"
