37. Blood Curse

ringing~~

The bell in front of the coffee shop rang, signaling Queenie's arrival. Anxious, she walked in with her bag and made her way to the opposite side of Aurelius.

"Never mind his business, do what you want," Queenie said, trying to calm herself.

"Don't be so nervous, Ms. Goldstein, please sit down. I just want to talk to you about something," Aurelius said as he stirred his coffee.

Here we go again, Queenie thought, recognizing the familiar tone Aurelius was using.

It irritated Queenie because this was the same tone he had used when they first met.

"What do you want me to do?" Queenie asked directly.

Jacob's brain was no match for Queenie, as she often knew about the conversations between Jacob and Aurelius.

"I would like to ask you to look after a child for me," Aurelius said.

"A child? Why?" Queenie inquired.

"Modesty, a girl from the orphanage, might be a little wizard. I just want you to confirm if she has experienced any magical incidents," Aurelius explained. He took a sip of his coffee.

"Just for this?" Queenie confirmed.

"Of course, that's the reason," Aurelius replied.

"President Picquery would go crazy. Two wizard children living in No-Maj society," Queenie commented, feeling relieved and in the mood for a joke.

"Not necessarily. I just have my doubts, that's why I'm asking you to confirm it," Aurelius corrected her.

"When?" Queenie asked.

"Look at you, you have less time," Aurelius commented.

"Then now," Queenie decided.

Majoris Orphanage

"How did it go?" Aurelius asked, accompanying Queenie as they quietly walked out of the room where the children rested.

"She...is not a wizard," Queenie confessed softly.

"Oh?" Aurelius raised an eyebrow.

Queenie looked at Aurelius with a complicated expression. "She had a wand that belonged to her late grandfather, but she lost it."

Aurelius paused, thinking to himself, "I wonder why it looks so familiar..."

"Is there anything else?" Queenie asked, breaking the silence.

"Yes, I want to know, isn't it forbidden for wizards to interact with No-Majs in the Magical Congress? Then why... why did you go to Kowalski incognito?" Aurelius couldn't contain his curiosity.

Queenie's lips moved, but no words came out.

"And he doesn't remember you at all. He doesn't even remember the magical creatures or that freckled Newt Scamander. Why did you risk punishment?" Aurelius continued.

"He forgot me, but I didn't forget him," Queenie finally said.

Just as Queenie was about to leave, she pulled out her wand. Aurelius suddenly spoke up."Queenie, if - I mean, if there is a chance for you to openly be together, how much can you give?"

"All!" It came out almost subconsciously.

Aurelius smiled and looked at her meaningfully: "If you are willing to believe me - although I don't know why I should let you believe it - but if, if you are willing to believe me, there will be such a day."

Queenie's eyes sparkled. "Really?!"

"What if..." Aurelius shrugged.

"Okay." Queenie nodded heavily and disappeared into the courtyard.

"Huh." Aurelius stretched. "The result is not bad. It solved a question and planted a seed."

Recalling Queenie's determination just now, Aurelius couldn't help but click his tongue.

The power of love is so scary.

Especially a love-brain witch.

But this also allowed him to become a born Legilimency master, perhaps the only one in the world.

This is a real talent. If you want to achieve great things, talent is very important.

"By the way... talents. It seems there are a lot of talents!" Aurelius suddenly thought of a person - Nagini!

Nagini is beautiful; that doesn't matter.

Nagini is Maledictuses; that's what matters.

The so-called Maledictuses are a curse originating from blood. In the early stages, these Maledictus were like natural Animagi, able to switch freely between humans and beasts.

As time goes by, the Maledictus will gradually be controlled by their animal nature and remain as beasts for longer and longer, until they completely forget their human identity and live as beasts.

Aurelius was interested in the blood-cursed.

As far as he knew, there were not many Maledictus around the world.

He is different from other wizards. Faced with the terrible ending of the Maledictus, wizards are afraid, frightened, and alienated.

But in Aurelius's eyes, he only saw the power of the Maledictus.

A born Animagus!

Compared with ordinary Animagi, the beast form of the Maledictus has great growth potential and excellent combat power.

In the future, Nagini, who has completely turned into a beast, is made into a Horcrux by Voldemort. Her combat power is also quite amazing - at least, ordinary wizards can easily be defeated by her.

As long as that bad side effect can be avoided, the combat effectiveness of the Maledictus will only be stronger with the power of intelligent beasts possessing humans.

Another point is that the beast forms of the Maledictus are all sorts of strange, and these beast forms themselves can handle different situations. Outside of combat, they can also play a unique role.

The last point is that they have a long enough lifespan!

Wizards say that Maledictus will eventually turn into beasts. This is not true! Nagini, who was now in her twenties, survived until 1998 when she was killed by a Gryffindor sword instead of dying of old age.

A hundred-year-old snake? Is this some kind of basilisk?

It's easy to understand that the longer someone or something lives, the more valuable it becomes to cultivate.

The world had abandoned the Maledictus, but this presented an opportunity for Aurelius.

The premise is that he can solve the tragic side effects of the Maledictus.

"Hmm... It seems I have to go to the circus. That little circus is full of undiscovered talent."

Literally - undiscovered talent!
