After settling down a certain troublemaker, Professor Flitwick began teaching the lesson.
"Levitation Charm!"
This spell is the foundation for many advanced charms. Before Halloween, first-year students' goal was to master it.
After explaining all the key points, Professor Flitwick handed out a feather to everyone—except Kael—and let the students practice on their own.
"Sorry to interrupt you, Professor Flitwick!"
At that moment, there was a knock on the classroom door.
Snape walked in.
"Professor Snape? Is there something you need?"
"I need to talk to Kael. I hope this won't disrupt your class," said Snape, showing respect to Flitwick, who had been teaching Charms even when Snape was a student.
"Of course, not at all!" Flitwick's eyes lit up. He could hardly believe his luck—someone had come to take this troublemaker away!
"Alright, Kael, come with me."
Snape glanced at Kael and then left the classroom.
"Yes, Professor!"
...
"Praise Merlin, Professor Snape finally came for him!"
"I bet Snape's going to give him a serious punishment!"
"No, I think he'll be expelled. At least he'll be kicked out of Slytherin."
As Kael was led away by Snape, the Slytherin students burst into excitement. They gathered in small groups, whispering among themselves.
Malfoy, in particular, was bragging to his two cronies about how he'd written a letter to his father that morning, claiming all the credit for what was about to happen.
"My father's a school governor! I bet Kael will be expelled!"
Cassandra, sitting in the back row with Espeon
in her arms, wasn't pleased at all when she overheard these comments.
That idiot!
If anyone gets to badmouth him, it should be me!
What gives you bunch of rats the right to talk about him?
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
Cassandra wasn't the type to sit quietly. With a flick of her wand, she casted the Levitation Charm—something she had mastered long ago.
This time, however, her target wasn't a feather but the desk in front of her!
As soon as she finished the spell, the desk lifted off the ground and flew straight at Malfoy, who was still boasting to his lackeys.
Completely unprepared, Malfoy didn't see it coming.
Crabbe and Goyle barely had time to blink before Malfoy was crushed under the desk, leaving only his legs sticking out, twitching.
...
"Oh, what a remarkable Levitation Charm! Miss Vole has already—"
Professor Flitwick, who had been on the other side of the classroom helping the Gryffindors, suddenly heard a perfect incantation. His years of experience told him that only someone very skilled with the spell could pronounce it so flawlessly.
Excited, he turned toward the source of the voice. But before he could finish his sentence, he saw a desk flying through the air and slamming into Malfoy, flipping him over.
His words caught in his throat.
What just happened?
Flitwick looked at Cassandra, confused.
"Professor, I successfully cast the Levitation Charm you just taught us!" she said matter-of-factly. "Please give me points for that!"
"No, no, Miss Vole, the goal was to levitate a feather, not a desk! And now Malfoy is hurt—who's going to take him to the hospital wing?"
...
"Professor, didn't you notice that the feather on my desk flew away too? So this was a successful Levitation Charm!" Cassandra pointed expressionlessly in Malfoy's direction.
Malfoy, who was just now struggling to crawl out from under the desk, had the feather land perfectly on top of his head.
"???"
Flitwick was dumbfounded.
It sounded so reasonable that he couldn't find a way to refute it!
What's more…
This whole scene felt strangely familiar.
"Alright, Slytherin, five points!"
"Miss Vole, you may now do whatever you wish, but please refrain from using magic."
With no other choice, Professor Flitwick awarded Cassandra five points.
"No, Professor, I don't think my Levitation Charm is perfect yet. I need more practice!" Cassandra twirled her wand.
Her eyes fell on Kael's now empty desk, then scanned the room, glaring at the rest of the Slytherins, who had barely learned any spells yet.
Slytherins: "???"
Flitwick: "???"
