The kids needed another adult, Mikael needed his friend, Maxim liked to have someone almost as big as himself around, and the boys certainly would want someone to help them with adjustments they’d have to make for the horses. Rider was good at that sort of stuff, he’d been around horses before in his youth, and the boys looked up to him in everything horse-related.
Even Dallas and Noah liked to have the wolf around, Sean knew.
He sighed and opened his email program.
Rider,
Please come home. We all need you.
I need you.

Mikael’s birthday on May 29 came and went.
Nobody knew Sean had emailed Rider, but he had a feeling some of them guessed he was now actively waiting. The problem? There had been no answer, and it had already been three weeks with no word and no wolf returning to the farm.
Sean was beginning to think Rider wouldn’t be coming home at all.
