Shani let out an uncharacteristic giggle and jumped to hug him enthusiastically. “Thank you so much!”
“Only tell Lark for now. I need to find a way to tell Sean myself.” Rider sighed. That wasn’t a discussion he was looking forward to.
Then again, these days it was a miracle they talked at all.
Somewhere in the back of Rider’s mind, there was a weird feeling about the Council being mixed up with this, but he thought it was just his natural suspicion at the thought of such a governing body ruling quietly and invisibly over them all. They had their uses, but sometimes they were known to pull strings in their own favor as well. Rider had to accept that the girls would get a safe ride to Tanzania and he could use the opportunity too. It couldn’t be that bad, right?
