Chapter 10

I had trouble sleeping that night. I didn't give Daniel much thought during the day as i had other commitments but when i went to bed that night i couldn't keep him out of My mind.

"What had made him behave this way. I had never ever seen the guy before so why was he angry with me. And why is Zarah trying to pretend as if nothing has happened "I thought to myself.

It was after 2 at night that I finally fell into a disturbed sleep.

I woke up with a start at 7am, half an hour late after pushing snooze button on my alarm multiple times.

I frantically went to the bathroom and was out in 5 minutes. After that I hurriedly picked out my outfit of a simple black jeans and dark purple slightly fitted tee shirt.

I looked at the bags under my eyes and tried to cover them with concealer ,a product I had hardly used before. Then after applying mascara and light pink lipstick I somehow looked presentable.

I made My hair into a bun today as I didn't have any time to make it into a braid.

I skipped downstairs and grabbed an apple and a bottle of water. My mom called Me to eat breakfast but I didn't have time to .I hastily told my mom that I over Slept but promising her that I would eat a healthy lunch. I then kissed My mom goodbye. My dad had already left for work.

I made her way towards My car. I started the engine and made My way out of the drive way. The weather was a mix of pure white clouds and sun today. One minute i was in the shadows and other I would be bathed in the bright sunlight. However the road as usual was smooth and surrounded by trees from the forest on one side and open valley on the other side. Also I was not alone on the road. There were two, three cars in front of me and behind me as well.

But soon I got left behind as I was too much fascinated by the shapes of clouds and slowed down to glance at them occasionally.

Soon I found My self on the road alone. I cursed Myself because in awe of the scenery I had totally forgotten that i was getting late. I pressed on the accelerator just as I saw something move in the woods from the side of my eyes.

I slammed My foot on the break and came to a halting stop.

I squinted into the woods for a better look. At first I saw nothing.

Then I noticed a pair of green eyes. But those green eyes except for their colour ,did not look human.

They seemed to be some kind of animal eyes. Then that animal moved and came out into open. It wasn't on the road but it was standing right beside the road still under cover of trees but very much visible.

It was an huge grey black wolf. I froze in fear.

It was enormous in size and it was standing about 15 feet away from her car it made no move and stood still watching Me avidly. I broke into a sweat. If I were to start the car suddenly I was sure the animal would attack me by My sudden movement. I just stayed still hardly even breathing. This wolf was easily the size of a huge lion. I had no idea how if it would be strong enough to wreck the car and take Me out of it if I kept standing there or would follow me and attack if I moved.

If it got its teeth into me it would easily Rip Me into shreds in less then 2 minutes. After what felt like an eternity the wolf broke it's stare and in a heartbeat it was gone.

I breathed a sigh of relief and started My car putting my foot on accelerator immediately as I wanted to put as many miles as possible between myself and that ginormous beast.

I barely made at time into school. As I was putting My things in the locker the bell rang. I ran towards My class room for period of physics.

I had barely entered and was making my way towards an empty seat at back when the teacher entered. None of My friends were in this class with me.

Our teacher started the lesson. He droned on and on about Newton's three laws. I tuned him out. I hated physics with a passion ,as I looked around I noticed that none of the other students seemed to be paying much attention to the teacher either. A few had their cell phone out under the desk while few others were staring emptily into space. While some were staring at Me again. Mostly guys. I sighed, ignoring them.

After about 2/3rds of the class the door suddenly opened with a bang. Daniel was standing at the door. He looked distinctly dishevelled. The teacher barely looked at him once and made a motion using his hand telling him to come in.

"hmm wow he is 30 minutes late and he didn't even get told off. This guy certainly has luck." i thought bitterly.

But today as he entered he didn't even look at me once. He acted as though the chair I was sitting in was empty. He made his way towards the empty chair in the room that was farthest from me. He sat down pulled out his book and started concentrating on the teacher.

I blushed as i realised that i was staring. I quickly looked away.

He never looked in My direction even once. Thankfully the period ended soon after this. As the bell rang I saw him getting out of his chair swiftly. He said a few words to the teacher and he nodded. He then left the room quickly without looking back. All this happened so quickly that I had barely gotten My things together in the bag along with the rest of the students. I made My way outside along with the others and saw Daniel was no where in sight. The corridor was huge .he must have ran to have gone out of sight this quickly i thought. My next class was biology and thankfully this one was shared by Zarah, Megan and Erika. I was quite happy and made my way towards them. Zarah looked really pleased to see me. She pulled up a seat next to herself so that i could sit with her. Megan and Erika were also sitting together.

"excellent. Now we are paired up nicely "Zarah exclaimed happily

Erika smiled and Megan rolled her eyes.

Today we were studying the topic of photosynthesis.

I was thoroughly enjoying my lesson as the four Us kept talking in undertones.

Plus Our teacher Ms Sven had told Us to divide into groups of four and then had given Us a diagram of leaf to draw, highlighting the areas having chlorophyll ,and to draw the cycle of photosynthesis next to it.

So we kept a constant stream of gossips along with our given topic.

Megan was whining about a dress she had ordered online that came in the wrong colour.

(who on earth wears neon green formal dress. Why was it even available in this colour, I ordered royal blue one but instead this horror came in the delivery and you know what no refund policy)

While Erika kept telling them about a cute guy who was trying to ask her out but failed miserably every time as he would always start the conversation with idiotic pickup lines which he would keep messing up( Alec walked to me and said to me " hey I seemed to have forgotten my phone number. So Can I have yours." As he smoothly tried to pull out his phone dropped it ,tried to break its fall with his foot only to end up kick slamming it on to the opposite wall. His phone broke)

Zara talked about the party that her grandmother was having at her place soon and how she wanted to escape from that with out making an appearance.( They all start asking personal questions like if I have a boyfriend yet. And then they all start reminiscing about their love lives and how many times they have "done it " at the most unlikely places . The worst of them being the bathroom at some ones wedding, at the back seat of a movie theatre and on a ride at the carnival. By the way all of these places were defiled by none other then my grand mother and my grandfather) they all could barely hold in their laughter after this one.

I talked about My mom's books. I told them about the plot of her first best seller.(everyone thought victims killer was the husband because you know it's always the husband but it actually ended up being her best friend who was having an affair with victim's teenage daughter.)
