The Congratulatory Buzz
Ren woke to the faint sound of a phone buzzing nearby. His body felt heavy and drowsy. Only then did he remember the late-night party he was in.
His eyes cracked open just enough to register the dim lighting of his surroundings.
The ceiling above him wasn't the familiar one of his dorm or even his room. It was the shiny, polished interior of a private plane.
Grogginess settled over him like a thick fog, and for a brief moment, he blinked in confusion. Our private plane?
He had no memory of how or when he'd been picked up. The last thing he recalled was collapsing into bed and falling into a sweet dream.
He was up almost all night. When he went to sleep, the sun was already saying its hello to the mortals. So, now it was really hard for him to open his eyes, but the persistent ringing annoyed him enough to wake up.
