Ren's Emotions
The fourth wall, as readers call it, is the invisible barrier that separates them from the story. They understand that whatever happens in the narrative is unrelated to their reality.
That was exactly what was happening to Ren right now. The moment those vines appeared; his mind stopped registering the full extent of the situation he was in.
Everything seemed too fantastical, too surreal. He had subconsciously detached himself from the gravity of it all, almost as if he were watching a sci-fi movie, waiting and hoping for the story to come to the best ending.
'I don't feel my stomach trying to spit my intestines out, nor do I feel any disgust. It's as if all my fear has vanished like my courage does when I try to speak to strangers.' Ren joked with his system which was more anxious about the situation than him.
