With Gon in my hands, I walked towards this totally not suspiciously placed cave near this rural village.
It was hilarious how the shitty god tried to incorporate more fantasy feel to his story by having these villages that looked like they belonged in the medieval age.
You could say that it's similar to third-world countries on Earth that don't have modern technology, they dress in rags and use wells for water but the two were nothing alike.
One of them was a result of a lack of natural resources, a corrupt government, or because of war while the other was because a writer didn't understand how to keep his world-building consistent.
While the major cities had technology decades ahead of Earth, the village I had crossed on the way to this cave was centuries behind.
I doubted if even a single villager had a gun.
Yes, although this world is reliant on bladed weapons or magic, guns are still a thing. They're just not very useful against demons or monsters so most people opted to train their swordsmanship, spear arts, magic, etc.
Gun arts was also a thing but it was a talent that was rare and the development was extremely difficult.
Only one major character in the novel used gun art.
I guess that's one good thing the shitty god did when he wrote the story. If he made guns too useful then there would be no need for people to invest their time in learning the blade or magic, ruining one of the few aspects of his story that was remotely interesting.
Turning to Jerman, I informed him, "No matter what you hear, do not enter this cave."
"Yes, young master."
"Guard the entrance and make sure that no one interrupts me," I continued.
"Yes, young master. Good luck," he said.
Jerman didn't know what business I had with the cave but he must've understood that it was going to be difficult otherwise I wouldn't have brought all these potions with me.
"Thank you, Jerman. I'll see you in a few hours."
"See you then young master," he responded, bowing a little bit before pulling two daggers out of his sleeves.
'Where the hell did they come from?'
I began heading into the cave with a little bit of nervousness mixed with excitement to see a demon I'd only been able to see in the form of words before.
Putting on these glasses that made me, or rather Bell, look like a handsome scholar, I was able to see in the dark as if it was daytime.
After ten minutes of walking down this tunnel, I reached the end where a giant room was waiting for me.
By the entrance, I took off my abnormally large backpack and began to take out everything that was in it, laying it down neatly on the floor.
Now that I was literally a few steps away from facing a being who in the original novel, consumed the souls of the entire village nearby, my heart was beginning to pump loudly.
I wasn't surprised by this. At the end of the day, even as I became one with Bell's memories and personality, I was still a human from Earth who, other than a few fights back when I was younger, was never a violent person nor was I suited for a violent life.
Sitting down, I began to meditate, hoping to slow down my heart rate.
"That's better," I said.
The first thing I did to prepare for the battle was stick this iron stake into the ground.
One thing I forgot to mention was that as a member of the Agnus family, even without all the cheats I had been acquiring since I began the mission of redeeming this trashy side villain, Bell was a prodigy who was talented in the art of the blade as well as using lightning magic.
Naturally, his physical strength was also inhuman as expected of someone who lived in a fantasy world.
Clenching my hand into a fist, I began to strike the stake until it was firmly on the ground.
Then I did the same with six other stakes.
One by one, I began to tie these strings onto the stakes. I call them strings but it's actually the intertwined web of a spider the size of a house.
They may look thin but other than an artifact blade like Gon, it was impossible to slice or snap.
At the end of all these strings that were long enough to reach halfway across the cave, I attached these hooks capable of digging into any flesh.
Grabbing a vial filled with red liquid, I popped it open and chugged it in a single gulp. Then I did the same with a few more vials.
Like a druggie, I was enhanced as much as my body was able to manage.
Taking a deep breath out, I tightly clutched Gon and asked it, "Are you ready for some blood?"
'It has been a while but I'll try my best,' it cheerfully responded.
Taking five steps forward, suddenly the cave lit up. Because I had the glasses on, it didn't make a difference but I understood that it marked for me, the beginning of the fulfillment of the oath.
In the middle of the giant room, red marks began to appear on the floor until they formed the shape of a summoning circle.
As the circle activated, like a corpse crawling out of the dirt, an arm poked out and pushed down on the ground, and the rest of the body slowly emerged from the ground.
I'm not a psychopath. Absolutely not.
But I couldn't help but smile like a child getting the candy he wanted.
I don't know what was wrong with me or what took over me at that moment but the nerves I had all vanished and I was overwhelmed with this feeling of blood lust.
My theory is that Bell's fighting instincts took over my body as a defensive mechanism.
"Who dare enter my cave?" asked Diamesca, standing at over ninety feet tall.
With nine eyes spread out across his black face that was void of any other facial features except for a mouth that looked like it was ripping every time he opened his mouth, he looked over in my direction.
He was wearing this black armor that looked like it was forged from shadow. If you imagined what a paladin's armor to look like, this was very similar except one represented faith and hope while the other despair and sin.
On his back was this scythe with a variety of skulls that hung from it like a keychain from Hell.
Before he could respond, I threw this glass orb in my hand with all my might.
"You missed," he said, scoffing.
"Did I?" I asked as I watched a white smoke begin to form.
"What is this?" he asked me. "It tingles."
"Nothing much. Just a little bit of holiness for you to repent in," I answered him.
"Hahaha," he chuckled. "I'm glad that you're the first human who dared to enter my domain. Your soul looks rather tasty. No, let me apologize. I'm being rude with that assessment."
He didn't have lips or a tongue but if he did, I imagined that he would be licking his lips at the moment.
"It looks absolutely premium. Probably one of the best I've ever seen."
That was to be expected from a member of the Agnus family.
Now imagine my disappointment in the shitty god for taking this gifted soul that this demon craved as soon as he saw it and wasted it for a minor event in his story that did nothing but bring the female protagonist and the main character a little closer.
No. You can't imagine it. It's far too vast for anyone to comprehend.
As the smoke reached his head, obstructing his view, I understood that he could see my soul so that he knew where I was but I also knew that he couldn't see the physical world itself.
Reaching for my back, I pulled out three needles from my belt and threw them.
As they were extremely small, I couldn't hear the sound of impact but I knew they landed as I heard Diamesca ask me, "Are you trying to tickle me?"
As you would imagine when fighting a demon, everything effectively against them has to be holy-based.
Those needles were soaked in the blood of a fallen angel which was about the most poisonous thing to a demon.
He wouldn't feel it right now but later on, that poison will definitely affect him.
"I guess you don't like being tickled," I said.
"Not really," he responded. Even with the smoke filling up the entire room, my glasses allowed me to ignore it all.
It wasn't an artifact but its usefulness definitely made it worth the price. If I say the number, even a rich man would feel a little sting in their heart.
I watched as he pulled out his scythe and I could hear the skulls clattering as they smacked into each other.
"Are you prepared to become one with me?" asked Diamesca.
"No, but I'm prepared to kill you," I responded.
"Ha! Very funny," he said, swinging his scythe, officially starting the battle between the two of us.
I dodged it, and with my index and middle finger pressed together, I aimed them at Diamesca and shoot a bolt of lightning that struck him in the stomach.
"I felt that," he said. "Very nice."
As he said that, he began to attack me with a variety of arcs that connected to the next. There was no loss of energy as he never needed to stop.
Running towards him, my instincts and reflexes allowed me to carefully weave all of the swings, some of them barely missing me by an inch.
I continued shooting bolts of lightning at him, which was to interrupt his rhythm a little bit as well as keep the momentum from completely shifting to his side.
I had four artifacts on me.
Obviously the first was Gon, my sword.
The second is my bracelet, Liona.
The third is my left earring, Kimi.
And fourth but not least, my right pinky, Vaulheshia. This one required me to cut off my own pinky, which was a pain I'd never felt before, and to let the artifact connect to my body.
'Liona! Now!' I yelled. A rush of speed took over me and with a single step, I was able to cross what was originally thirty steps in a snap.
Then I called upon Kimi and Gon's abilities. Gon didn't look all that fancy but if the blade was capable of cutting the air before, now it was capable of cutting through space and time itself.
Kimi's ability allowed me to see these white dots on Diamesca. They weren't his weak spots. This wasn't a video game.
These dots were just the spot where I would be able to do the most damage based on my position and the position of my weapon.
If I took another step backward, to the left, etc., the location of these white dots would change.
As I swung Gon with a speed that my brain was a hundredth of a second too slow to catch, I was able to chain it and hit all the white spots.
Diamesca's blood began to leak out from the slice.
Before I could internally celebrate the success of my attack, my instinct told me to dodge but I felt as if I couldn't so instead, I reached over my back and placed Gon in the perfect position to intercept the scythe.
I was able to stop it from cutting through me like butter but I was swung up into the air, crashing into the ceiling of the cave.
As I began to plummet back down, feeling as if my bones were broken, it was like it teleported.
The scythe was a few inches away from my face.
Me personally, I wouldn't be sent flying into the ceiling. That's just me though. Built diff
