Chapter 2

I walked through the streets up to my apartment, I've made nothing.

How the hell do I make one hundred million with this kind of income? I stared down at my dagger, it was the legendary god tooth, a calamity class weapon, but even selling that wouldn't get me close to the amount I need.

The next day I was walking down the mines with three other mercs, we were escorting, you guessed it miners!

I would hardly get anything from this job but there wasn't much going. It was all I could get.

The guy closest to me nudged me in the shoulder and had a big smile.

"Hey man, I haven't seen you around, are you new to mercenary work?"

"Yeah, It's pretty rough trying to get decent money from all the cuts, right?"

"I don't know what you mean man, this gig is great, we can make millions in weeks."

"But doesn't the guild take 70%?"

"Um I don't know what you're talking about but it sounds like you got ripped off."

The job ended not soon after and I exited the mine and walked up to the guild rage filled my body as I gripped my knife.

THAT BASTARD!!! My best friend. The person I trusted most in the world was ready to let my brother die to make more money!? My dagger started to catch on fire, the blade blazing with a crimson fire as I ran up the road I was sprinting, my teeth gritted and my body tensed. I didn't know what was going to happen but I was so angry, a pure white flame built up inside and burnt through the blade making my body like a spark running through the cold, dark empty street as I ran up to the giant building, the guild of 'HellCat Tiger'

I stormed up to the small office and burst into the room where he sat. that bastard, my oldest friend.

"What the hell is wrong with you!!!"

"Wow you figured it out congrats. It took a little longer than I expected but then again you never were the brains were you?"

"I trusted you! My brother is dying and you screwed both of us for what? Money!??!?"

"Ah now that was always your problem, you were always too trusting and that's why when we leave you or take your money you never see it coming. You think a guild should be a family, an adventure when it's a business. I see opportunities and I take them. If a ship is sinking you don't stay with it, you take the cargo and you build another boat. That's what you never understood. You were always too reckless and never thought things through, And that's why you didn't read the contracts that say for the next eighty years you will work for me. Giving me seventy percent of the revenue.

I will be so rich. I've got the strongest human alive as basically an attack dog.

I've really out done myself here.

Now run along home I've got a big raid planned and so tomorrow you're going to make me so much money."

I gripped my knife but the flames had fizzled out the hate in my heart replaced by shock and annoyance. I walked silently down the stairs and back to the hospital walking into the polished white room, the clean shining floor echoed my footsteps as I walked to his bed. Sitting down on the wooden chair by his bed I stared down at his dying body, tears falling from my eyes as I cursed myself. I hated everything. I hated myself.

I held my head in my hands, the tears flowing down my arms as I stared at him.

"Such an unfortunate fate."

I swung my head around reaching for my dagger as I looked at the dark figure in the corner of the room. He had a mask on and red eyes gleaming into the darkness of his coat. He stared at me, his brown hair shifting as he spoke.

"I know how much it costs to treat such a disease, it's a shame you won't be able to make that much in your current predicament."

I pushed the chair up as I stood readying my knife as I stared into the black cloaked figure, his body like a black mist.

"Who are you?"

"That's not the question you should be asking,"

"What should I be asking?"

"How I can help you make a ton of cash"

His mask deformed and contorted into a smile.

"Sorry if I'm not quick to trust you but how do I know I won't just be screwed over."

"You don't," he threw a card at me, the piece of paper soaring into my hands. "The HCT Master's head at this address in 24 hours and you'll find 1,000,000 in your pathetic excuse for an apartment within the hour."

I looked down at the card, an address was scrawled down onto the white paper. I opened my mouth to speak looking back at the corner but it was empty, he was gone. I looked around the room. Who was that? He wants me to kill the Guild master of HellCat Tiger? Wait isn't that him, my current employer and the bastard who screwed me over? If its him I have to kill, I'd do it without the reward. I grabbed my dagger and walked out of the hospital and whispered to my brother,

"I'll save you."
