Forbidden Frustration (4)

Mikael felt a surge of panic as he saw her walking towards him, but he quickly composed himself and put on a polite smile. "Estemeed Lady," he greeted firstly.

He lowered his head slightly in a sign of deference. His eyes landed on the floor as he bobbed a curtsy at her, showing that he was aware of his lower status. 

At that moment, his mind kept questioning why she would be at this time. 'Why of all times?'

While he was glancing down, Mikael noticed that Lady Clarissa was not alone as she approached the door. He could see another pair of shoes peeking out from behind the hem of her dress.

He pulled his shoulders back and adjusted his posture. He wanted to appear composed, even though he felt nervous about being in a private room with Lady Clarissa behind his facade. 

He just hoped she would not hear how his heart was pounding.
