Selfless

Aaron initially sat across Jey, got up, walked towards the girl, and sat beside her. He stretched out his hand and got an answer from Jey, who tilted her head in confusion.

"Let's talk in my study room." Jey grasped the hand and followed Aaron into the elevator to his study. Along the way, Jey still couldn't shake her thoughts about Mr. Anderson's disappearance. Even when they are already in Aaron's home office, Jey still looked busy with her thoughts.

"What's wrong?" Aaron asked after the two of them sat on the long black sofa in the room.

Jey let out a frustrated and worried sigh. She didn't say anything and leaned closer to Aaron and wrapped her arms around him while snuggling her face to Aaron's big and solid arm. Jey tightly hugged Aaron, and the latter becomes a frozen statue because of Jey's sudden brave attitude.

Aaron comes to his sense back and waits for Jey to answer his question. However, the woman did not speak a word and just hugged his arm tighter. Aaron didn't force Jey either and rubbed her head lightly with his other hand.

"The only witnesses to the accident that night disappeared since this morning..." Jey whispered softly after be quiet for minutes.

"I'm scared... scared ... if this was the mastermind's doings. His family also disappeared... what if something happened to them... before this, they lived quietly and peacefully... but.. because, because of me... "Aaron felt his shirt sleeves getting wet, and Jey's voice grew smaller.

Aaron's hand that was rubbing Jey's head wrapped around the girl's body and hugged her. This is one of Jey's characters that touched Aaron's cold heart. Selfless. No matter how important something is to Jey, she always puts her needs aside and puts others' interests first.

This is the second time Jey cried in front of him. And it tormented Aaron as if a knife was slashing his heart bit by bit as tears poured out of Jey's blue eyes. Aaron didn't know what to say to make her feel better and just hugged her tightly. As if the hug told her that she was only that far away from him. And if Jey needed him, she only needs to say one word, and Aaron is ready to do whatever it is.

The silent comfort was interrupted by a knock on Aaron's door and the voice of Tong's butler standing outside.

"Master, Miss, the dinner is ready."

Butler Tong waited for a while. After knowing that they heard his message, Butler Tong walked away with light steps from the room. Meanwhile, Head Maid Tong, after being busy helping out in the kitchen, instructed all the maids to stay away from the dining room and the floor above, namely the study room and the master bedroom.

After hearing the order, they obediently vacated the floors and carried out their duties in another area.

Soon after that, Aaron and Jey were in the dining room and started enjoying their dinner. After letting go a little of the stuffiness in her heart, Jey enjoyed dinner feeling better than ever.
